Great that he's off the mark and looks promising!!!
Despite people saying he should have been with the u21s I think being with the seniors will help and when he's ready for his first cap (hopefully against US) he'll know the squad and the set up and it will all seem less daunting. Under 21s is great, but it is only there as a spring board to the seniors imo.

Has moved ahead of Woodburn in the pecking order for me - senior minutes so important To be fair, Woodburn did start last night too (and played well by all accounts despite Blackpool going down to 10 men within 2 minutes). Obviously Johnson's had more minutes so far this season and is in good form, and I agree that he's probably edged slightly in front, but they're both playing at the same level now so it'll be interesting to compare their form this season. I'm still stubbornly optimistic about Woodburn.

I'm still stubbornly optimistic about Woodburn. Ahh I didn't realise he'd gone straight into starting at Blackpool. That's great news. I'm also optimistic although I don't think he's going to be the star that we thought he was going to be. I think he'll end up being a solid Premier League level player but it will just take longer than we thought it would take when he splashed on the scene as a 17 year old. Fingers crossed it's an injury free season for him My comment was more that momentum seems to be behind Brennan at the moment. Championship debut last season, more minutes towards the end of the campaign, now getting regular senior minutes and he's hit the ground running. The fact that England were trying to pinch him as recently as last season shows how well he's doing

Won ANOTHER penalty.
Destined to play for Man U the way he’s going

Watching the highlights he looks pure class. First touch, direct and a constant threat. Could have scored a couple of goals to be honest as well.
Jorge Grant is now League 1's top scorer with 6 goals, largely due to the four penalties that Brennan's won for him in his first four starts.
I'd definitely want him capped next month, ideally in one of the competitive games to secure his future with us.

These are the highlights: www.skysports.com/football/lincoln-vs-ipswich/430899Not much to go on it's true, but a couple of touches of real class in those clips - the way he takes the ball in his stride when he fashions the chance he put fractionally wide, and then the backheel and spin before winning the penalty.

Wow - brilliant goal! That first touch was the most impressive part for me, but he took it so well. Seems like the type of player where things just come naturally to him. He also had a hand in the well-worked 4th goal with a very cheeky back heel. Really hope we get to see him against USA, wouldn't be opposed to starting him even

Can anyone tell me what his best position is? I’ve always thought somewhere behind the striker, but looking at stuff like this is he a number 9?

Quality. He’s a lot taller than I remember, really hope he develops into a 9 and not another wide player or 10. He’s looks the part.

Can anyone tell me what his best position is? I’ve always thought somewhere behind the striker, but looking at stuff like this is he a number 9? He plays left wing for Lincoln, usually played number ten for our U21's. He's getting in some positions that suggest that he could play as a false nine for us, and does have attacking instincts.

Must be starting against USA? With them fielding a bunch of youngsters as well, it seems the perfect opportunity.
He's actually a bigger unit than what I thought, I'm sure I saw a photo of him last year and he was quite short/lighweight!

If he can play 9 he could end up being the missing piece of the puzzle for this team that our under 26s will develop into

Could have scored with first touch? Listening on the radio. Sounded like a chance. How did he do?

Showed some nice touches and was disappointed for him that he didn't score but promising signs for sure. I don't think it'll be long until he's staking a claim for the first team.

Agree, his versatility could become key for us if we are to continue with a fluid front 3 formation like the Bulgaria game.

His shot was going into the bottom corner and it was probably the right place to put the ball, just a good save from the keeper to be honest. With hindsight you'd say if he just lifted the ball a bit he'd have scored, but he did the right thing & I honestly thought he was about to slot it with his first touch - would have been a bit legendary. You can tell he's got ability, in a similar way to Tyler Roberts. By 2022 he could be staking a claim to be a starter you never know - I think ultimately he will be a Premier League player. For now I think a good season with Lincoln and then getting into the Forest team seems like the aim for him

I’m still a bit confused with the new tieing down rules- does this cap contribute towards it, also is it 3 or 4 games? Although I’m not too worried that he would defect.

So if Brennan plays 2 more games for us, let's say 2 friendlies, he'd be tied down. Likewise if he plays 1 more game for us and it's a competitive game he still wouldn't be tied down, he'd need that 3rd game for it to be confirmed

Brennan should have scored - shame that chance didn't come a little while later, after he had settled in properly. Thought it was a decent performance by him, though.

I'm surprised they are not going all out to get Patrick Bamford on board to be honest! Munir is another example of why they changed the rule. Came on for Spain for the last 10 mins of a qualifier as a youngster and was therefore ineligible for Morocco because of it. I do like the new rule better - gives a bit of flexibility

Morocco called him up for their last squad but FIFA veto'd it on the grounds that Munir had featured for Spain's u21s after turning 21. What sort of batshit crazy rule is that?

I actually hadn't heard that latest development. Apparently there is a rule if you represent your country in an official competition (such as the UEFA U21 Euros) and you're older than 21 (he was 22), then you can't switch. To be fair, he should have known this when he accepted and his advisors around him have done him a bit dirty there His whole case screams a bit of "I thought I was good enough for Spain so I had no care for the rules/regulations around eligibility when I was young. But now my career hasn't progressed I want to change to Morocco & I'm frustrated that I didn't give the issue careful thought back then" Whilst the U21 rule does seem a bit silly, I think that if you're 22 & you turn out for the U21s in an official tournament, then go on to play for the seniors, you probably have made up your mind as to what your nation is. Wanting to undo this when you realise you might miss out on international football is probably not the best of reasons to switch nations

At 22 you probably have a decent idea of where you want to end up playing and he chose Spain.
