Good opportunity for him, but I think a lack of Maddison will hurt the Spurs attack. But it's still a good opportunity for him to shoulder some responsibility. Big test but excited to see how he does

Looked to come off with an injury…great Match report say he could have tweaked something. Are we going to see spurs stoping him joining the squad because of this 🤔

Couldn’t have worked out any worse for Spurs after he went off that’s for sure.

Worst case scenario he’s injured. This is not threadbare Wales of 80’, 90’s and 00’s. I believe he was never starting anyway and people can step up and we’ll get the results.

I think there are fans on this board who post along these lines - "do you really think he enjoys playing for us?" - because they want the attention. I don't know if this includes you but i'll bite. There's nothing to suggest he doesn't enjoy playing for us, he's going to be an important player for us and we literally have no idea what happens next. This is all fine by me and we can probably focus on the games without adding side-stories.

I get the feeling that some people don't like him, which is strange since we are hardly blessed with forward players who can operate right across the front line.

Some poor decision making from Brennan yesterday, especially right at the end when he decided to go wide and to the line rather than wait to bring others into the game, ending with him running into trouble and going to ground relatively easy. He really needs to make an impact soon, he had a golden opportunity to do so in Riga and blew it really, came on yesterday and didn't really offer anything. Latvia and Armenia, there's no easy games in International football but that's two he should be making an impact in.

Can we get more from him than him impersonating a Taylor dummy and showing he doesn’t want to be on the pitch ?

Tailor's dummies aside, yes Johnson hasn't shown a huge amount for us yet but he's also a player of huge potential amd versatility so maybe we should calm down and get behind him a bit, instead of erroneously questioning his commitment or work rate.

I thought we looked really good in the first half and Brennan was part of that.
Had the ball in the back of the net in neat finish (offside?) and could have scored another but for a deflection.

He was definitely offside. He also should have 'won' a penalty for us. He gave us a glimpse at a different type of 9 tonight and that's a very good thing.

We have gone from HRK/Vokes, to crossing our fingers that Tyler Roberts (he's much more Rutter at Leeds than what we tried to make him) or Bale could be a focal point, to Kieffer's emergence saving our blushes. (Apologies to Tom Bradshaw - still a good role to play for us but largely a "what could have been" story at the moment). I don't see a HRK/Vokes/Kieffer like player in the youth side (still hopeful about Vale at Blackburn but he's got some way to go yet) so we need to work out what to do next. Playing so well in first half with a different type of striker was really pleasing.

Think he's definitely a striker rather than a 10 or an out and out wingers. Could have had 2 last night and a lovely finish when offside. Should have had 2 penalties also ( the push was a penalty if theirs was).
Challenge I think is to fit him into a system that suits him and suits us. Problem is that his inclusion relies on a bit more tactical thought than if Kieffer plays. The interplay in the front 3 at times in the first half was fantastic and as said, he was very much part of that.
Encouraging.

I felt frustrated early on when 3 or 4 balls were pinged into him and he couldn't hold it. That's the biggest concern with him playing there - very few balls stick and we don't have the option of lumping it up to avoid the press. That said, I think we managed to play to his strengths more and more as the game progressed and things started to click much better. If he could improve his hold up play slightly, he'd be a great CF option. Beyond the playoffs, this is probably the route we need to go down with Moore getting on a bit and not playing much. It's just a question of whether we take the risk in the playoffs, or go back to the safer option of playing Moore.

He's very good at making that run into the right channel and getting shots off. In the 2nd half he did it once early and it was going into the bottom right, decent save from the keeper. Then he had the offside goal which was a lovely finish, and also the shot that was blocked by Brooks. Thought he was much better in the 2nd half, and overall a better performance
I think he's a good option up front against the big teams when we counter, but I'm not sure what his role should be against teams that sit deeper - maybe move him to the left where he will play for Spurs?

I only saw the second half. Crazy game ... Can someone please confirm whether Brennan is actually first 11 as of right, or is there currently a crisis of injuries / lack of attacking options?

Richarlison and Kulusevski started the season as the wife players. The former was injured thus contributing to giving Brennan his shot and latter has moved central since Madison's injury. Spurs have a huge number of players, and have over the past four games, out due to injury or suspension, but I'm not sure Brennan getting his shot is wholly about this. Not sure it matters to be honest. Brennan's getting better with the game time.

Not sure it matters to be honest. Brennan's getting better with the game time. This is incorrect. They started the season with Son-Richarlison-Kulusevski as the front 3, Richarlison was playing down the middle as he does for Brazil. The hope was he would be a focal point, much as he is for Brazil, which is why I made the big mistake of putting him in my FPL team for the start of the season. Whilst Spurs were doing well, Richarlison didn't score any goals, and was then benched for Burnley (A) where Son played up front and scored a hatrick, and Son has played every game up front since then. Richarlison scored after coming off the bench in the next game (this was the game Brennan came off the bench to make his debut), but was then benched again away to Arsenal despite this - Brennan starting his first game there Brennan was then injured after this game, and returned to the starting XI against Chelsea at the first opportunity of him being able to start. He's started every game since then, and only during this game was when the injury/suspension crisis began So in summary to manulike 's question, Brennan isn't just starting because of an injury crisis, it looks like their preferred front 3 is Brennan-Son-Kulusevski and I doubt Richarlison will overtake Brennan when he returns from injury especially because he's more of a 9 than a winger, and wing play is very important in Postecoglu's system I'd say Brennan is nailed on as their LW now

Watching Spurs vs Man City it was impressive that every time Son pressed out of possession he sprinted towards his opponent. Every single time, from start to finish. I really hope that Johnson is taking note, because if he emulates Son his contribution to club and country will significantly improve. I don't think I'm asking too much, it's just a matter of physical exertion and attitude.
