Page? No sorry I think Bale had far more to do with us reaching a WC not Page and everyone knows it. Austria was a great performance but Bale was the spark. People forget we were poor at home against the 10 man Czechs but won and against Ukraine for 60 mins. Poland are not Belgium, Italy or even Ukraine or Hungary. They are currently very mediocre. We have no god given right to beat them but we had the massive advantage of being at home and pace. We blew it, Don't give me bigger picture - we had a massive opportunity and 120 minutes to make it and most of us feel Page make bad decisions. He is a very poor coach and I am really fed up knowing he is a handicap to us. I accepted poor performances up until the WC but that tournament made his limitations and terrible calls plain to see for all. Going through the next tournaments and seeing mistake after mistake. Armenia 1 point from 6 ffs (of and not the first time either was it - without Bale we lose to Belarus away and we drew with Estonia at home!). Even after the home humiliation, the players turn it around with a great performance - playing for the manager. That is great but he needs to contribute and we below our second chance in the next game our in Armenia where we were terrible. Against Turkey at home - everyone could see them getting on top before their goal accept one man. We get our third chance and blow it again. I am fed up of accepting his mediocrity. Lovely guy but out of his depth when up against coaches with a footballing brain. Oh ok, so it was Bale that qualified us for the World Cup. How do you explain we failed to qualify in 2018 with Bale at the peak of his powers, which he certainly wasn’t in 2022? Does not compute. Sorry to say, but I think that poor statement in itself and inability to credit Page in any sense reveals your complete lack of objectivity here. Oh so because Poland aren’t at Belgium’s level we should expect to beat them and sack the manager if we fail to do so? You may think they’re mediocre (and they certainly relative to the top sides) but they have better players than us and have qualified for practically every tournament for a reason. He would only be a handicap to us if he gets less out of us than the alternative (whoever that may be) would. I don’t think that’s clear cut at all. Rest of your post you’re just repeating things that are done to death and selectively picking out results that support your argument, ignoring all the ones that don’t. Sorry about that - I must be mistaken - I thought Bale was injured for the tale end of our 2018 campaign and missed the key Ireland match. I also recollect he scored all the goals in our WC play off victories. Sorry about that - my memory must be failing me. I am also forgetting the brave calls or astute tactical moves Page pulled off to get us to the WC. My bad!

Look - we have a difference in opinion. The real test for Page if one was prepared to forgive him for a lot of uninspiring performances and the dreadful WC was a post Bale qualifying campaign and I think we can all agree that we did not have the toughest group and we had 3 clear chances to qualify if we performed consistently. If he got us qualified, even if it was after the third opportunity, then I would have shut up for now as he would have delivered. That is how you get judged. He failed, like we failed badly at the WC. It is that simple and we can argue about how much of it was Page's fault - I have a strong opinion and so do you, which I respect. I just prey he learns something or gets a wise head into the set up as we are far too inconsistent at the moment in so many ways

Pretty anonymous so far.
He won’t be starting many more games if he doesnt get himself involved more.

Pretty anonymous so far. He won’t be starting many more games if he doesnt get himself involved more. Think Spurs have set up with Son and Madison, and full-backs, being the creative forces and Solanke and Johnson being finishers. Brennan's has had one shot on target, one close effort from tight angle and made one good tackle. Think he's done okay so far.

Is that good enough? I’d argue not.

He looks to have zero confidence every time the ball comes near him, in contrast to the boy Madison who is controlling the game.

Think it's clear that Maddison has been the star player so far and everything good has gone through him.
I think the game has largely been down the one side and that includes Leicester's rare attacks too.
Not saying it's been a great performance but I think it's been okay so far. Only moment directly after his good tackle, where he spent too long looking for a pass, is a moment of concern for me so far.

Yeah he's been ok - nothing more, nothing less. No different to how he was for us and Spurs most of the times I watched him last season. That's why I couldn't understand why people were going on about how we weren't getting the most out of him, and that he was a different player for Spurs. That was never the case

I think Son has had better dribble success and has had more of the ball, but hasn't looked more dangerous and has allowed more dangerous attacks down his flank.
If anyone likes stats websites: sofascore currently rates him as 7.4 and Spurs' third best player on the pitch; Whoscored rates him as 6.9 and Spurs' fifth best player.
I would rate him somewhere between the two. Begval has come on with confidence and shown good dribble already - something I would like more of from Brennan.

I think it seems like Brennan is told to keep and re-cycle the ball more than Son is. Probably because Porro is a very good attacking full back and involving him in crosses is a good tactical plan. That being said there are occasions where I would like to see Brennan improve his dribbling

I'm not sure what Johnson is anymore, whether that be a striker or a winger. The greek/aussie plays him in such a restricted role of providing width with the focus on hitting hard and low crosses or arriving in the box at the far post, not sure that he's doing enough to warrant regular starts, but for Wales I'd like to see him with more freedom and centrally where his pace can be used more effectively.

Agreed, always looked better centrally for us. Utterly wasted out wide against Armenia that's for sure. Sadly forgettable in most other games over the last 18 months.

Spurs scored 4 goals today, Brennan somehow not involved in any of them.

I just do not understand how they manage to play him in a way he has so little impact on the game
Obviously a significant part of that must be due to him not getting involved enough but it is worrying
He looked like our nailed on goalscorer a couple of year ago but somehow that part of the game seems drilled out of him. Would have been better for us if he stayed in the Championship developing as a goalscorer rather than being played like a spare part. He will be overtaken by Koumas if he is not careful.

I haven't seen today's game but last Monday he touched the ball much less than Son on the opposite wing but was as if not more productive until he was subbed off.
Statistics websites suggest it was the same story today, in terms of Brennan being less involved than opposite wing, but was much less productive than he was against Leicester.
Son by all accounts had a wicked game as a striker so what's seen by the fans is Brennan starting the season more slowly than others, but I don't think Spurs have got best out of their wingers so far this season.
Johnson's best performances so far have been against sides who give him space and first two games have been sides not doing that, but he does need to find a way of getting more involved.
Him staying on for full game today hints that his manager was giving him a chance against side low on confidence.

To be fair Spurs don't score the first goal without Brennan speeding play up and moving the ball into more attacking area.
Still would like him a touch more involved and backing himself.
Edit: his pressing, and directing player behind him, contributed to second goal as well.
By 77 minutes he looked a bit tired in working his way up the pitch for Spurs' fourth.

Good and promising points - a criticism of him has been his pressing so its really encouraging if that is being drilled into him at Spurs. I guess he is tracking back much more too? v Attacking options for us are now very decent (albeit not elite) Pace - James, Brennan, Matando Creatives - Brooks, Wilson, Lawrence (and a fast fading Ramsey) Physical - Moore, (Harris) Goalscorers - Koumas Back ups - Broadhead and we have two promising kids at Brentford and Man Utd of course! I would hope Bellamy is far more effective in employing these attacking resources than Page ever was Surely we have far more attacking potential on paper than Scotland, Ireland or Northern Ireland! Its amazing how dour and clueless we were in many games overseen by Page, even when we had Bale or Ramsey on the pitch (other than during their magical moments)

Interesting to note that his defensive stats on Fotmob are excellent this season. Above average in 7 out of 10 metrics and below average on just one. Possession won final third 94th percentile, Duels won %age also 94th percentile, tackles won per 90 minutes 92nd percentile. If he brings those sort of defensive numbers to his Cymru performances he will be a massive asset to the way Bellamy wants to play.
For context, last season his defensive stats were very poor (10 out of 12 metrics below average, none above average), so he's clearly taken on board that he needs to up his game. His stats for Cymru in Euro qualification were virtually identical to his club stats.

Awful comments following the Spurs game last night, most notably about his crossing ability - which was evident against Turkey.
What's happened with him? Is it confidence? Is it work ethic and drive?
He was a standout championship player, but has struggled since moving to the PL. I don't blame Spurs fans for getting frustrated, he was bought for almost 50 mill, which now looks like very bad business sadly.
I'm starting to come to terms that he's been vastly overrated.

I don't blame Spurs fans for getting frustrated, he was bought for almost 50 mill, which now looks like very bad business sadly. I'm starting to come to terms that he's been vastly overrated. Genuinely think there has been an issue with Spurs' wingers and attacking players this season but because Son is Son (he's had one good game - the game he played as a striker) and Odobert is younger and cheaper the online criticism is of Brennan. Online comments of Brennan's sub appearance against Newcastle - his best game so far - was that he put in several dangerous crosses but no one was there to receive them. In Brennan's best PL performances so far have been with someone to cross into (Solanke has played two games in his debut and against Arsenal's beat defence in the league) or acting as a finisher (Spurs' midfield have played very few good attacking passes this season - Maddison has generally been poor too) so I don't think it's fully on him. His work ethic has been good (his defensive play much improved) but think he's struggling where he has less space to play with and/or no one in the box to cross to. For whatever reason he seems to have 70 mins in him at the moment so maybe needs to work on his all round attacking game so not so much about fast sprints. But then there was a time when Bale struggled at Real Madrid because they thought he was a one trick pony reliant on physical attributes, early on his time there before later criticism of injury record, so things can improve.
