Must be Covid in Neco's case

Yeah there's no way it's not COVID or injury related. Probably COVID. Liverpool look very weak and could have done with Neco in there especially

Lovely stuff. Could be the Colwill of the World Cup squad. Has always impressed when I’ve seen him play. Shame for him that Neco and Connor are nailed on. Although his inclusion may allow for the a second look at the Neco in Central Midfield experiment one day.

We could do with a left footed equivalent of Neco - so hopefully Owen can give us that!

Similar to Neco in that he's always positive when he gest the ball, he carries it very well and is a threat. I expect him to come in for Roberts with Neco shifting over to the right if he does well at club level within the next season or two.

The massive caveat, of course, is that he hasn't been tested against quality opponents in senior competitive games. That's the final test for him to pass.

Anyone actually watched him? i am guessing he played mostly for the u23 side? though i am clearly clueless ,seems really promising though but i just have that niggle in my brain that woodburn tore it up for the u23's to and struggled, though i think woodburn has all the skills and just like tyler roberts it's just a little bit of belief mixed with a bit of luck and that crucial mental thing, anyway i am rambling and got off the point

Very similar in style to Neco, him on one side and Neco on the other could be very exciting in a couple of years. I don't think there's too many similarities with Woodburn. It's a completely different position, and I think there's always a much bigger question mark when looking at whether young forwards can make the step up to senior football compared to other positions.

I wasn't really comparing positions more the fact a player can stand out in the youth team but fall by the wayside in senior football.

Confirmed. Another good move - hopefully the fact he has the no.3 shirt means he will be a starter. If he plays well, I certainly wouldn't rule out a wild card inclusion in the 26-man squad. This is turning out to be a great window!

Not the most famous of Portugal's clubs; not sure why it's a "fantastic" move and why choose to go there, rather than somewhere more central in continental Europe. OB and his new team-mates will do well to challenge the prominence of Sporting, Benfica, Braga etc in the coming season. Then again, I guess it will be good experience for him.

Very much in the mould of the Algarve based clubs, small capicity ground and never going to trouble the "Establishment" Benfica, Porto, Sporting but they have held their own in Premeira Liga last couple of years. My local club SC Olhanense did pretty much the same a few years back and basically bankrupt themselves trying to no avail to keep up with the big three. For Portugal see every other league.

One of our young wing backs becoming a regular starter at a steady club in the best league outside the big 5 is great news

If he starts regularly, I would like to see him given a call up in October, just so Page can see him close up.

Odd rumours emanating from Bolton W FC. Seems Owen Beck has been seen at the training ground at the last couple of days ! Famalicão have a few days break till their next game so could be sound. Maybe that he is just visiting his mate Connor Bradley who is on loan from Liverpool for the season. But there has been talk about Declan John's ongoing injury/illness issues, and that he rarely manages two full matches on a roll, and that the club may be wanting to move him on. Would be an odd one saying he's just signed on loan in Portugal, but hasn't played for them yet, and could be one to watch on deadline day.

There could well be playing clauses, or Liverpool might just be looking to change the loan arrangement if he's not playing for them

Seems like Liverpool thought the Portuguese club messed him around a bit with false promises, so took an early decision to cancel and get another move for him. Happy with that. At least it will be easier to check his progress with Bolton!

At least it will be easier to check his progress with Bolton! Agreed, I should imagine Liverpool would have sought extra playing time assurances for this Bolton move too. Would seem silly if not. With RND being played as a LCB at club level, big opportunity for Owen to stake a claim as the back up LWB in the WC squad.

Interest from a couple of Championship clubs as well now. I guess it will come down to how much he will play, that's obviously important to Liverpool or they wouldn't have cancelled the Famalicão loan. My feeling is with the limited appearances Declan seems to be able to string together these days for whatever reason, and his long breaks in between, that Owen will get plenty of game time at Bolton who really don't have another specialised LB/LWB option. Still some rumours that Declan may be on the move but would be surprised to see that happening with his current and persistent injury problems, and would leave them with only one LWB again, so I think they would just rotate in that position.
