Now official, Owen joins his mate Connor Bradley at Bolton for the season. Great move for all concerned. Evatt likes his wing backs to bomb on and be creative in attack, and I reckon he will get plenty of game time. If he does well could be a potential late consideration for the WC squad ? I think he would be a more useful squad filler and back up than Luke Harris if Page wants to take a new 'Colwill' for the experience.

I think as long as RND, Davies and Neco are fit, there won't be a space for Beck to force his way in for the WC squad. He could possibly force his way in as 3rd choice LWB ahead of the likes of Burns and the likes after the WC.

He could possibly force his way in as 3rd choice LWB ahead of the likes of Burns and the likes after the WC. I don't think we'd likely see Beck in the Wales squad until he got a good run of games under his belt domestically first. Think Burns is out of the picture. In terms of LWB heading into the world cup I imagine the scenario would be 1. Neco 2. RND 3. Ben Davies/Sorba if the above got injured Perhaps afterwards like you said. Don't think there's many left backs or wing backs coming through at the moment not immediately anyway

Would you really want to take Davies out of the LCB role though if Neco was injured. From what I've seen of RND he looks more like back up for Ben rather than LWB material. Wes Burns seemed to have burned up spectacularly. Fair dos though, completely forgot about Sorba. Would take one of Neco or Sorba to be injured pre squad finalisation for Owen to get a look in, and in the event he does well on his latest loan. Still haven't seen him play yet, but am excited from what I've read and heard and will keep the group informed of his progress this season.

Sorba looks an awful wing back though, I really think he's a front 3 player and is completely uncomfortable as a WB.

I'm worried about Beck to be honest. Third choice left back there behind Iresdale and Declan John. Waste of a loan

I'm worried about Beck to be honest. Third choice left back there behind Iresdale and Declan John. Waste of a loan Iredale is more of a LCB as I understand, but has been playing as LWB in John's absence. In the recent EFL cup game at Tranmere Beck played as LB with John further forward left midfield. I don't know what's going on with Declan, something isn't right whether physical or mental, he just doesn't seem to be able to string more than a couple of games together without a prolonged absence. There was talk of him being moved on in the Summer so that may still happen in January. I think Beck will get his chance, Evatt likes to rotate his players and its early days in the loan. I'm sure Liverpool will have sought assurances on playing time otherwise the loan will likely be terminated as they did with Famalicão

Just looked at the Bolton fixture list for October, 8 games, so will be expecting rotation and a chance for young Owen, probably Sheehan and Isgrove too.

If he doesn't play then and he's fit he needs to go back. When loans go that way they often chip away at a youngster as opposed to making them better.

Waste of time him being at Bolton. Not sure why he didn't stick things out in Portugal.
Knackered now since he can't move again this season unless fancies going back to Portugal!!!

He's now going through a downward spiral so hopefully by the time the summer comes around he and his career can be saved from it. Not every loan move works out but this has been a disaster.

Very strange how this move has turned out. Poor from Liverpool not to seek solid game-time assurances after the Portuguese move. Not ideal if Beck is unfit either mind- hopefully that is not the case.
He has only played for Bolton this season. Might this allow another move? Or is being registered at 3 clubs the issue?

Yeah can't play for anyone else this season now. As reported by ds supposedly being recalled and will play for the U23s for the rest of the season. Waste of time, not sure how they thought it'd be a good move going to Bolton when as I said in earlier posts he'd be third choice. Go again next season.

Really disappointing, he's generally been rated higher than Bradley, who plays as a right wing back and has also been on loan at Bolton from Liverpool. Bradley's been brilliant for them, so I was expecting something similar from Beck. That's a shame

Yes disappointing loan, had high hope when he arrived on the back of Bradley's success. To be fair he has had some game time at Bolton but hasn't taken his opportunities when offered. So much so that with Iredale injured and Declan looking likely to move this January, Evatt has used Sadlier and Afolayan, who aren't even defenders, let alone WBs. And he chose a half fit Gethin Jones on the bench as LWB cover rather than Beck, so he looks surplus to requirements now and definitely out of favour. He's not a bad player but needs to show more muscle and determination at this level.

Not the end of the world. Dan James and Joe Rodin both had poor loan moves.

Hate to say it, but another youngster some fans get too carried away with......
Do Liverpool really rate him? They've given chances to Scottish 17 year old Doak, so Beck being 20 must be a long way behind.

Players develop at different rates,I think you and a few of the doomsayers on here confuse, exited by,with carried away,we could follow the, until he's a top six premiership player he's shit methodology, but personally I prefer a more reasoned approach, you constantly go on about "carried away",but as I said I say exited by and think that's natural.

Yeah, any supporters get excited about their youth prospects - it would be weird not to. More often than not those prospects don't make it, or at least not to the level hoped. That doesn't mean they didn't have the potential and a reason to get excited about in the first place, it just means they weren't able to fulfill their potential. Many of us can be excited about players' potential, while also being level-headed enough to know there's a lot they have to prove and a good chance it won't work out.

Can he go out on loan again this season or is he stuck playing for Liverpool's U21s now? I know you can't play for more than two teams in a season, but from what I can see he never played a competitive game for that Portuguese club?

Liverpool for the rest of the season now
Would expect a Wales U21 call up in March - either qualifier / training camp friendly

Need to remember player development isn't linear and a poor loan move doesn't necessarily mean the player isn't good enough - Dan James had his loan at Shrewsbury cut short and ended up scoring for Manchester United 2 years later

well a funny coincidence, I have just bumped into the guy who wrote this! We had a chat about Beck, and he said that it seemed that Liverpool were more disappointed in the clubs he went to rather than Beck himself, as well there being a chance he could get on to the bench for the first team in the second half of the season. Also mentioned Neco's little brother Keelan, and apparently Liverpool were gutted to lose him to Burnley. So hopefully a bright future ahead for both!

Great to see that Owen is straight back into the Liverpool u21 starting 11, after his recent injury and re-call.
Would love to see him with the seniors this Summer. Was excellent every time I saw him last year.
