I think a "general football" thread could work for matters not relating to Wales.
An off-topic thread to discuss current events would be nice, but I think the mods have expressed disapproval in the past, and given how the BLM thread went it's probably for the best.

Athletic Bilbao have won the Spanish super up, only their 2nd trophy since 1985. Always glad to see them succeed. Just shows that their philosophy can be a success in the modern era. I bet those two trophy wins are so sweet to their fans and the Basque people
Excited to see them contest a delayed Copa Del Rey with Sociedad as well - really hope their fans are able to attend

This one isn't going to go down well but England are going to have one hell of a team in 2 or 3 years... I agree. I actually think they've already got a hell of a team. Whether Southgate is the man to bring it all together I don't know. Their big weakness is the CBs/GK. I also think they may struggle from having too many options and may not be able to get everyone into a system. Southgate is trying to combat their defensive fragility by playing a back 5, but I don't think they have 3 great CBs nor especially good specialist wing backs How do you fit Kane, Rashford, Sterling, Sancho, Foden, Grealish and Maddison into a lineup? You can't really and I'm not sure what their best front 4 would be? On current form probably Kane, Rashford, Foden & Maddison It's giving me flashbacks to their golden generation where I feel they have too many options, and they don't have a good enough manager to really implement the right style for that squad of players to get the best out of them. On paper they should be winning tournaments, but then again the press will do everything they can to prevent that

Some good football related documentaries on Amazon prime.
The three kings about Busby Shankly and Stein. Good watch except no subtitles and music all the way through which drowns out the talking especially if you find it hard to understand the Scottish accent.
The FIFA FAMILY A LOVE STORY
A Qatar world cup 2022 documentary about the awarding of the world cup its especially about the eccentric fat crook Chuck Blazer.

I haven't seen this much good young English talent coming through en masse before in my lifetime (38 years). Eze, Foden, Greenwood etc. to add to the established 'older' young players like Wan Bissaka, TAA, Sancho, Rashford. I think they may win a tournament in this decade.

Some of them will consider their place in the national team to be a "right" and not take too kindly to being dropped for whoever the new flavour of the month is. Imagine being Alli or Maddison when fans and the media were screaming for Grealish to get called up? Added to that, there's very little balance in midfield. Besides Henderson or Rice, who's dropping back to defend? Almost all of their talented players right now are attack-minded, and as you point out, their centre backs & keeper are shite. Best advice to give players on the up like Eze is to pick Nigeria, they could really smash it given how many talented lads are qualified for them right now.

Always have to include a hot young prospect to include - Trippier is now boring to the majority of their fans as they have TAA, AWB & Reece James to consider along with Walker. Never mind the fact that Trippier is getting games in probably the best defence in Europe at the moment I hope some players like Eze do seek out playing for other countries. Nigeria, Jamaica and Ireland would all be regularly qualifying for tournaments if their English-based contingent played for them - and they could be heroes instead of fringe squad members

Yep they would have a lot of Portuguese players. Have a look at Algeria as well - who would likely have one of the best teams in the world if all their players declared for them. They could field an outfield team that looked like this Atal-Benatia-Mandi-Ghoulam Aouar-Bentaleb Mahrez-Fekir-Mbappe Benzema Their keeper would still be crap but who needs a decent keeper with that team!

Haaland is a monster and along with Odegaard, Berge, Ajer etc., I'd really hate to play Norway right now.

Saw that earlier, he gets more outrageous with each game. As a closet City fan, it'd be great to see him and Reyna at the Etihad.

If City sign him it would be game over for the competition for the next few seasons. He's Pep's wet dream being a target man, but also rapid and skilful. Heard he is a Leeds fan though surprisingly

Though the fact that is family are all Norwegian, he moved to Norway aged three and his dad was a famous Norwegian international probably meant that it wasn’t a realistic possibility.

That young German boy looks to be choosing England! Musiala? All the tabloids are saying he will snub England and choose Germany Has played for England at some levels and the interview I read with him seemed to suggest that all his mates were English from the ranks at club football and he enjoyed playing along side them. How ironic, knowing the English "hatred" of the Germans if a German was to become an England star!! Maybe hatred is too strong and maybe it is all press enhanced but couldn't think of a better word!
