David Goodwillie scored twice for Clyde tonight. Of no significance but it's a cracking name! Haven’t heard that name for years. He was in the Premier League with Blackburn a while back. If I remember rightly he got arrested a few times for fighting and at one time ended up on a rape charge.

Slavia Prague earn a 1-1 away draw to Arsenal in the quarter final first leg. Great to see teams from Eastern European countries being competitive It's good to see them being competitive, but from a current Welsh perspective it is worrying that Czech clubs keep holding their own against the PL giants. I think it just shows that the gap between 'Tier 1' and 'Tier 2' nations is shrinking. More and more of the lesser nations seem to be competitive with the big boys these days

A friendly fixture (women) stands out today
Euskadi Women v Argentina Women.
Seems a long time ago we visited Bilbao to see Wales v Basque Country.

Although, finding a window might be tough, their best players play for Spain so they normally have to play non-European teams now I'm sure even a 2nd string Basque team would be a good game for our 1sts or 2nds

They rearranged the game for the following day so some Welsh fans were booked to go home and missed the game, although they did give us free tickets to see Athletic Bilbao play Barcelona which was played instead of the Wales game. But more odd the next day when our game was played some guy by the name of Giggs played for us in an away friendly...and scored the games only goal to boot.

A chart of the amount of players we've had per season playing in the Championship and Premier League. Nathan Broadhead's appearance last night puts us on 12 for the season for the Premier League, which is the most we've had since the Swans got relegated. It's still less than we've managed for a lot of the last 20 years, but it has become a more international league in that time as well. It's the most amount of players we've had play in a Championship season, definitely helped by the two Welsh clubs giving opportunities to younger players.

A lot of young Championship players, so would expect a fair few to filter upwards - I think we will have plenty of Premier League players over the coming years. Furthermore, I can't see the number of Championship players decreasing either. Our conveyor belt of talent is strong now & I think we will have a lot of players all throughout the pyramid

Wycombe must be rueing some of those early season decisions that went against them! Yeah, especially given the results of the last few weeks. Some of the performances they’ve put in have been incredible and to be relegated by a single point after looking dead and buried all season must be agonising.

Just nipping away from the Euros, watching today's TDF as they rode through a Breton village a bloke with a Breton, Cornish and Welsh flag sewn together.
Nice to see.

Funnily enough I just bought a helmet, looking forward to get going but I am a bit worried about Lorries / tractors around here! Be good to go with others maybe to start with

Just have to get on with it cadno, what will be will be, must admit I am a very "defensive cyclist" always looking for what could happen.
One of the first trips to Baku (back in the 2000's) one Welsh fan actually cycled there. Can't recall his name (Hedd maybe?). Can't find an article on it now but would have been in the magazine Neil Dymock and co from Gol used to produce.

Great article. Especially the bit about how you don't really ever play in the Croatian top flight unless you are an established senior player who has gone through the required stages of development. This obviously makes the league competitive and makes it a good enough standard overall to improve players when they do finally get there. It makes sense that they don't just chuck youth players in for no reason. This also makes me feel confident about Burton's pathway there, I think he might end up being the best one out of Smith, Morrell, Levitt et al

Why do I get the feeling we’ll be drawn a group that starts in Saudi, second game Italy, third game back in Saudi. Haha.

Really fascinating. I guess that's part of the reason some players struggle so much to get into games. I'm thinking of someone like Harry Wilson, where he often fails to find space and thus hardly ever receives the ball in some games. That might be an issue around insufficient scanning to work space for himself. Looking at some of those clips, that appears to be what Lampard was doing

Noticed a fan half way up one of the climbs on the TDF today in a SO58 bucket hat!

Imagine a world tour of those although I’d like to see a thread like that for proper stadiums rather than just pitches. Kudos to the no doubt optimistic Wolves fan adding Molineux to that lot!

The Breton national team are organising a match for next summer, with their opposition to be confirmed. Would love to see us send a Wales XI to play them. Good opportunity to strengthen our cultural ties.

It would be great if we could play Brittany in a friendly match, however unlikely that the very best players would play in it. It's so sad what is happening in Brittany to the Breton identity. The Breton language is dying as most of the speakers are people over 50 and few young people are taking up the language (although there has been some improvement in this area recently). The French state actively discourages the Breton language and there is no real support from the devolved administration which follows the national government line that the Breton language is a "divisive" thing. Unlike here there is no compulsory teaching of the language in state schools, something which is obviously contributing to the language's demise. I remember many years ago listening to the words of "Bro Gozh ma Zadou" which is the Breton national anthem, sung to the same tune as Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, and essentially understanding them as a Welsh speaker, and thinking how cool it was that this language existed that was similar to my own. I did a bit of research into organisations that are trying to help keep the language alive, and the best way to support it that I could find is through Diwan schools. www.diwan.bzh/fr/etablissements/skol-diwan-gwenedYou can donate through the website, if you want to help.
