I'm somewhere that for some strange reason restricted those links on youtube but surely the second one must be that hungary team,i remember reading a piece about people who were in the crowd when they smashed england at wembley and they couldn't believe what they were seeing and said they walked away knowing football would never be the same again, though typically Germany still managed to beat them in the 54 final.

Yep it is Hungary. Watching them in those highlights is similar to watching that beautiful Brazil team in 1982 when I was 10. Unfortunately Italy beat them and they reverted to a more conservative game and they and football were never the same again. Of the joy! Everyone goes on about the wonderful Dutch team but that Hungarian team had invested total football almost 20 year before the Dutch! .... who would have thought the Hungarians would manage to smash England almost 70 year later in their own backgarden again

Didn't they beat engand 6-3 and then 7-1 in the same year? at a time when england only just joined in the world cup and couldn't believe these upstarts would dare such a thing and didn't realise football could be played in such a way I willhave to watch the link when i get back home, sounds like a good watch.

Yes they did. Decent watch. Incredible how many games they went undefeated with the exception of the big game against (at the time) the unfancied Germans and their 'miracle of Bern', which kicked off the start of a great history for their team.

And of coyrse the linesman who incorrectly ruled out the Hungarian equaliser v West Germany was of course WELSH. Where was VAR when you needed it ?

A football has never been struck better than that ramsey shot, everything about it is perfection.

Aside from hardened criminals, is there a bigger tw*t in the world than Simon Jordan?

I find Jordan hilarious, he just can't help himself. Well played Hal.

So glad we avoided Georgia in the draw. He seems like the star player they have been missing in recent times that makes them serious contenders for qualification - particularly for the Euros

To be honest his emergence has terrified me as I worry that he can inspire them in a way that Bale has for us only they have seemed to be quite a technically gifted side. The 5-0 defeat will live with me forever!

Hilarious escape last night. it's a good job it didn't happen 5 mins earlier else we would have probably lost 2-1. Did some artificial intelligence, video doodling here in celebration.

Playing out from the back..
Who started it?
Every team seems to do it nowadays just watching a game tonight thinking who is responsible for it?

Playing out from the back.. Who started it? Every team seems to do it nowadays just watching a game tonight thinking who is responsible for it? I'm sure many managers before started the trend, however in terms of the recent popularisation of it it's definitely Pep Guardiola I remember when he first came to Man City the questions were "does tiki-taka work in English football?". Within a few seasons everyone in the top flight was splitting the CBs and playing short, and signing GKs who could pass. A few years after that you have teams even in League Two/National League trying to apply the same principles. Now it's pretty standard Then Klopp came along and showed the importance of counter pressing as well. Now every team at the elite level plays out from the back and counter presses high up the pitch

Every time Spurs tried to play out they were immediately under pressure from Everton and invariably lost the ball. Got me thinking, this isn't working, when do you just go long?

This is why Kieffer is such a good option for us. My opinion is that it's always better to have a longer option, whether that's a target man, a quick runner in behind, or even a set of players with the ability to switch play well

I find it laughable the way coaches are desperately trying to copy the Pep's of the modern game because they think that is the way to go, even though many players especially keepers do not enjoy this playing out from the back system that is causing so many mistakes and inevitably goals. You can be a 'Pep' and create your system that becomes successful for a season or so but opponents eventually catch on after awhile and find ways to nullify or make it less effective, plenty of examples of this as shown in last nights game.

My own particular favourite when the opponents are on a high press, is the short pass to the defensive midfielder who's facing his own goal just outside the penalty area. I mean if the full backs are covered, what's he supposed to do? Might be alright for Rodri and co but gives me nightmares. See Brentford v Man U earlier this season and Morrell almost coming a cropper in one of our 2 recent matches.I forget which

Messing around with it at the back - England's second goal against us, the worst moment of the World Cup

So what does everyone think of the Brecon Beacons news?
I had tears in my eyes at the end of the video. It’s significant. Hopefully soon Wales will be knows as Cymru and only Cymru. I doubt Cardiff City and Swansea City being English teams with Welsh skins would ever change but hopefully this inspires more saving of the language.

I find it soul destroying the amount of vitriol from some quarters to this name change. The reason given I find odd, it is as if they are using the green agenda to justify using a Welsh name for an area of Wales. I sincerely hope a lot more renaming of places into their Welsh names follows but without silly reasons. Just say it, this is Wales we will use Welsh, end of.

I'm 100% behind the name change, however the branding itself is awful. Is this website new, or was this re-designed? bannau.wales Because that's shocking too!

This is Wales just use the Welsh names. I know a few people abroad who have studied linguistics and work as lecturers etc American, Argentinian and Tuvalu! Are the countries they come from. A few months ago I loved listened to a conversation they had about how Welsh sounds so ancient and mythological and different and unique. I wonder in 2023 how many people abroad here this language and think the same. I’m sure the Welsh tourism board know that using Welsh names and removing ourselves from English is a good thing for the economy because it shows we are different and people who try to visit as many countries as possible will come here.

Jesus, you were all for putting a motorway through the middle of it a couple of days ago. Now its a beacon ( excuse the pun ) of your nationalism. If that means so much to you then fair enough. To me its a fantastic bit of welsh landscape that I've enjoyed for many years. whether in the car or on foot and will continue to do so, no matter what its called. Back to football. I was reading a bit on wiki this morning and was shocked to see that the qualifying draw for the 2026 world cup is this July. Is that right seems awfully early to me ? I was looking principally to see what chance we had of making the top 12 - pot 1. We're currently 15 needing to get above Serbia, Poland and Sweden. Not likely to be enough time / games with it being so early. If we'd snatched the result against USA or hung on against Iran it would probably have made all the difference.
