Is it worth having a thread for general chat?
In the last few days I’ve had to go back a bit and revive old threads for Andy King, Morgan Boyes and Ched Evans when snippets of news has come up for them. Obviously keep individual threads for current players but I thought it would be good to just have a thread for general chat as well.
Any thoughts?

For Welsh non football matters you mean?

Just use the search function, that's what I did to resurrect the Ched Thread.

I like the specificity of the forum as is. A lot of other football forums have the general chat threads but I think a lot of the time they can derail conversations, and take away from the point of the forum
I enjoy coming here because all threads are always focused on Welsh Footie, I have friends that loosely follow the national team, but nowhere near to the same degree as me. So having this forum gives me an outlet to have discussions that I can’t get from chatting to friends, or using twitter etc...
For that reason I would like it to stay as is. Not that I feel it would take away from the forum, just that I like knowing what I’m getting when I come here, whereas other forums there can be a lot of nonsense on there that is distracting

For Welsh non football matters you mean? No, I meant for Wales football. I was thinking along the lines of ‘I see Morgan Boyes has been recalled from his loan spell’ then a few comments on that until someone comments on Ched getting sacked or Andy King signing for a club in Belgium as opposed to each player, especially fringe players, having their own thread. A bit similar to the thread we have when there is a game or a squad announcement but it runs all the time. The general opinion on here seems to be that we don’t need an extra thread so fair enough, just thought it was an idea.

Most of my friends and family are Cardiff or 'big' team, Liverpool or Arsenal mainly.

I wouldn’t mind having a non-Welsh football related general football thread where we can discuss other national teams or goings on within foootball. But if there was information about Morgan Boyes I’d personally want to see it in the Morgan Boyes thread

Yes. Who on earth is Morgan Boyes by the way. Another youngster I've never heard of.
Here is one v timely general chatty thing: my team Rayo Vallecano is this very second playing in the Copa del Rey and I'm trying to find it on the internet TV. Don't think it's on the Liga Smartbank YouTube channel via VPN. If anyone knows where I can watch it please let me know.

Man I'm well busy. I will do as you suggest. Rayo are 2-0 up at half time. I have found an over-excited YouTube radio channel in Spanish for commentary but the commentators are a bit hyper: www.youtube.com/watch?v=23PmgSv_C88

I checked. I think I've even seen him play (Boyes, that is), against Russia in 2019 when we were all watching Neco Williams at right back.

Interesting. I'm going to start following the Celts of Vigo now that I've learned more about their Celtic connection. Always like Bilbao for the way they run their club too - would love if Cardiff had the same way of doing things

Yes would like to go to Vigo. Went to La Coruna last Jan, always wanted to go there.
As for Brighton - never got it up for them. Shame no Taffies in the team but I'm more or less in the modern football is bad camp. The 2012 Cardiff antics sickened me more than I thought at the time. Wouldn't mind seeing Spurs or Luton (where I got into football in the first place in the 80s) and had a ticket for Crawley v Newport last week but fans were banned. Get my kicks from English non-league, which is a very good standard.
Recommend Spanish football trips - my first one was in 88 and I saw Lineker play for Barca v Sociedad, who were managed by Toshack. Not many stewards, atmosphere not as good as UK (Rayo an exception), below La Liga the standard is nowhere near Championship. I just enjoy it more

On the subject of foreign teams, these are mine when in Portugal (devide my time between UK and Portugal although that will be affected by the Brexit 90 day rule) en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/S.C._Olhanense

I usually get the same text as you saying 'who is X,Y or Z, when he's at home?'

It might work as a general football (non welsh) thread e.g. qualifiers, club football etc

I just enjoy it more La Coruña also Galician, and the Riazor is definitely one I would like to go to. Pretty unique being right on the coast, right at the tip of Spain as well. Was disappointed to find out that they are now in the 3rd tier, I remember them competing at the top of La Liga with Pandiani & Makaay etc.. Because Spain play their games all over the country, I always held out hope that if we played them perhaps they'd host it at the Riazor but looks like they never play their games there. Although they did host 3 games at the 1982 World Cup there so if they ever host in the future there is always a chance!

No, didn’t realise he was Asian either. I remember he played and had a goal disallowed at the end in the famous Wrexham Arsenal game.
