Clubs too volatile. Churn of managers with contrasting ways of playing and philosophies just not a great place for a young lad to develop.

I know you shouldn’t read too much into single performances, but I’m still really disappointed with his performance against Gibraltar. To completely fail to make anything happen against that standard of opposition is concerning. I just don’t feel confident that he’ll manage to capitalise on the very few opportunities he’d get if he moved to a prem club, so I struggle to see him pushing for first team action at that level Moments of magic but too few and far between at the moment. I think he could be a bit of a late bloomer hopefully.

Big season ahead for him, is he a player or not , it's up to him.

What makes you say that? I'd have agreed a few months ago, but Colwill actually really came into the team the second half of the season and established himself as the number 10 (albeit with Ramsey injured). Probably style of play. He did well, but still couldn’t get involved in many decisive moments in the final third because Cardiff spend most of their time on the back foot and are more comfortable out of possession. That seems to have been Cardiff’s DNA for a long time and it’s certainly how Bulut prefers to operate, so it doesn’t feel like a good match I don't think Cardiff have a DNA, it's chopped and changed between managers, aimlessly. Even under Bulut, we spent the first two months playing quite a high intensity and pressing game, then drifted away from that to sit back. My understanding is that part of the negotiations were about the style of play, and a desire for a more attacking approach from the owner. So I think it remains to be seen how the team will be set up next year (and by extension where/how Colwill fits in). Not sure there's a need for him to move though, his game has improved overall and he's made his way into the team, it's a time to push on further.

This is the first time for a long time sticking with a manager, at a club who have been investing much more in youth development. So I don't think it actually applies now.

When a club keeps changing personnel it loses identity.

FWIW Bristol Rovers fans not particularly complimentary of Cardiff’s team (😂) but very complimentary of Colwill in particular as the best player on the pitch by a country mile. Shocking haircut though, I mean, really….

Colwill is bossing this game. Leaving him out of the squad is starting to look a bit daft now

Still time to call him up Craig

Saw a different side to him tonight. He bossed the game, pressed with intensity, even held the ball up well on several occasions, and then produced several moments of magic - the goal most notably, but the cross leading to the third goal was also excellent. He looked like a real leader and hungry for it tonight, spilling over into frustration on several occasions when things didn’t quite work out or where the ref made questionable calls. If he can maintain that type of attitude and intensity, I think that could be massive for his development.

Still time to call him up Craig Bellamy was at the game tonight. Colwill played like he had a real bee in his bonnet. I wonder to what extent he was trying to make a point in front of Bellamy. Colwill just needs to play with that intensity week in week out and then he’ll walk into the squad

He's needed that season where he will kick on, and when it happens he will be a cracking player. Hasn't happened yet just hope that this season is it and he doesn't look back

Colwill just needs to play with that intensity week in week out and then he’ll walk into the squad If he could do that consistently he would walk into the top half of the table Premiership squad. He maybe is the most naturally talented players in our squad but in the past also one of the most ineffective. His awareness, vision and the way he strikes the ball is elite - it is the cream on the cake. The issue is he just needs to ensure the cake itself is properly baked! If he develops and adds the passion and intensity that you reckoned he showed tonight to his game, then he is definitely going to be a massive benefit to Wales. Just needs to add consistency, consistency and even more consistency!

Agree with this potential is there for sure but its the C word with Ramsey surely going to be a 45 mins man[with the modern 5 subs rules you can cover this for a player like him] for club/country then Rubin should have the opportunity to prove his worth at both levels

Should be in the Welsh squad on last night's showing but he will be a big help for the U21 I guess
Pretty talented bunch of U21s we have had sailing through over the past 2 years by the looks of it! Koumas, Colwill (who we knew about of course), JJ (who is established), Crew, Ashford (based on that finish vs Czechs) and Isakki, then you have Popov coming back from a long term injury, and the likes of Morgan and Biancheri moving up the age grades. Great to see a goalscorer and 2 central midfielders emerge as we desperately needed this
Obviously we need a top goalkeeper, followed by a Premiership standard central defender and better cover for central midfield to emerge now and then we can be pretty happy!

Hopefully the younger Colwill (Joel) will come through to help in Central midfield in a couple of years. Looks really promising so far and is highly rated at Cardiff.

He has a bit of grit, a bit of pace, and shows good composure at times. And we know he can strike a ball too. Needs gametime at the senior level to kick on, but there are some positive signs.

Well he needs to be better that he was against Gibraltar, there wasn't a better chance for him and he was anonymous, I for one want him to succeed as he's a very talented player and is very important for the future of our national football team

It might be better for him to follow Harris's lead and get away from Cardiff City for the sake of his career?
