Agreed that the next thing that Charlie needs is a loan playing mens football instead of academy football. I would not mind him coming to Forest to replace James Garner if we are not promoted as he is def going to be a first team player at Man U next season. It would also be great for him to play for a club with a manager who develops young players and also for club which will allow him to be display his talents which may be difficult to impose on teams in league 2. With Cooper improving Garner i would hope we would havea chance of loaning him only obstacle is how much would Robbie like coming to the City Ground to watch him ?

Robbie was talking about him on 5 live Sat night with a man u fan who said they shouldbring in u23 players due to the rubbish from the first team.
To be fair Robbie was quite honest and said he and others were probably not going to play for Man Utd long term but were good players who would be good players for somebody

Sounds like Savage has impressed Ten Hag... "Savage and Iqbal were the first youngsters to catch the Dutchman's eye in the first week of training under new management. Ten Hag told the players they would be picked on merit, not reputation - and Savage and fellow midfielder Iqbal are the first to gain his confidence" www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manutd-academy-ten-hag-impressed-27435231

Good to hear. Ten Hag definitely gives off the vibe that he'd entrust youth so hopefully Charlie might be able to get some minutes hear and there this season.

Getting a lot of praise on twitter. Hard to take it too seriously as a lot of it is people using his good performance to criticise McTominay. But even still, nice to see that he's had a game and is drawing good feedback
Potential bolter for Qatar?

I caught the 2nd half of the game on my flight back from the UK to the UAE. He looked tidy while sitting just in front of Eric Bailly who had a Stormer. Savage mopped up a lot of 2nd balls after some interceptions, and a lot of simple football, similar to wee Joe.
I agree, he could be a bolter if he plays a lot of pre-season and a few games up until November. Hard not to turn down a player on the fringes at Man Utd, same precedent with Levitt.

Very skeptical about his chances of being a bolter for this world cup personally. We often see teams playing youngsters in preseason games that wouldn't get near the matchday squad for important games. Man U are desperately after De Jong, if he turns them down they'll look for an alternative. They already have Fred, McTominay and Garner who will all be above him in the pecking order. So I really can't see him getting more than a cup appearance or two at most at Man U once the season starts. His only chance is a loan to a championship club or other top European league, but there isn't any talk about that at the moment really.
I think Owen Beck is far more likely to be the bolter

Owen Beck would be my bet too.

Who've we got at left back/left wing back realistically?
LWB/LB 1. Neco 2. RND
--- Beneath that I feel we have shoe-ins who can fill in
3. Sorba? 4. Davies (I'd say more of a centre half now) 5. Gunter? 6. Burns (Didn't do himself much justice in recent games - not sure if too soon to write off completely)
Any injuries to the squad mind - he could definitely be in and amongst it already if he can play regularly and given our lack of depth there.

Likewise mind just thinking about it - centre mid we're not exactly full to the brim with options
1. Ramsey 2. Allen 3. Levitt 4. Ampadu 5. Morrell
---
6. Smith 7. Vaulks 8. Sheehan
Again barring any injuries but if him and Jordan James were somehow able to get minutes, I wouldn't see it being completely beyond the realm of being called up given lack of depth there - unless I've missed anyone obvious?

Eli King has impressed for Cardiff in pre-season, I imagine he's more likely to get league games pre-WC. Could well sneak in

Big, technically very decent, and saw an interview with him the other day where he spoke really well and it was clear he's a very intelligent footballer - the type of player that managers love, and I gather Steve Morrison's a big fan.

Cardiff do have a lot of midfielders though. Not sure what I think about Rubin Colwill there. He needs to be playing week in week out now, but I'm not sure he will - he's just not a Morrison type of player.

Savage on for the second half against Melbourne and getting lots of praise on Twitter. Lots of calls for him to be in the premier league squad. If that happened, would surely be in the mix for Qatar.

A move to Wolfsburg was rumoured after last season ended.

If that happened, would surely be in the mix for Qatar. 2nd game in a row he's getting glowing feedback. Twitter should always be taken with a pinch of salt, as it operates on the basis that Savage is being used to criticise Fred & McTominay. You can imagine if Savage was a regular starter you'd then get all the critics coming out to criticise him too - it's just the case that twitter critics will always chat nonsense for clicks That all being said, he's getting praised a lot for his technical ability & the manager is very pro-youth. United as a club are a pro-youth club as well, and including the likes of Savage in the first team squad is an easy way to get on the good side of the fanbase. This combined with the fact that he's doing well in a very weak position for United is very promising Of course, I don't think he'll become a regular Prem starter this season. De Jong & Fred/McTominay will probs start most games. However, there will be opportunities for him to play Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup for sure. If he gets 15 games in the United first team then that's definitely in the category of potential bolter for us, especially given this is a weak area of the pitch for us too. Equally, maybe Ten Hag sends him out on loan & that also gives him a good chance of making Qatar That Matt Smith spot is one of the most precarious in our squad at the moment & I have high hopes for Savage moving forwards now

I don’t believe he’ll become a regular in the Prem, but if he gets some games under his belt and does well, he’ll be right in the mix. As you say, it’s an area of weakness for us! Matt Smith’s place looking particularly precarious playing only 4 times for MK Dons or whatever it was last year… Eli King or Congreve may also be bolsters if they start the season well.

To be honest, in the absence of any friendlies I wouldn't mind seeing him given some time against Belgium and Poland. Important games I realise, but if he continues to hold his own in pre season, would be a shame not to take someone who could be an asset in Qatar.

I only had half an eye on that second half today. He was superb. Was pinging some balls that would certainly not be out of kilt with a prem league player. Hard to tell about his other abilities, as he is a no-nonsense type of player, who rarely took more than two touches of the ball. I did not see him dribble once. Which, in many ways, suits international football.
If his dad had his range of passes when he was 18, we would have not only gone to the WC in the USA, but got to that semi that the Romanians did!

Bulgaria stuck in my mind because they were a suprise and the other thing about that world cup that stuck in my mind was the romania columbia game, even though i was still gutted it eased the pain a tiny bit that everyone could see romania were no mugs and could really play.

Romania were a badass team back then, Hagi was an incredible footballer. I'd love there to be a Welsh Hagi one day!
