For those who haven't had the chance to see the lad play yet, here he is against Melbourne
He's a left-footed deep lying play maker. Looks quite similar in style to Levitt with his desire to play longer pass/switches, but seems to shuttle around a bit like Morrell as well. Kind of a left footed mix between Morrell & Levitt I guess you'd say

Apparently Roy Keane quipped he must have got his passing ability from his mother

People forget a good a footballer his dad was at Crewe, before he decided he was going to turn into an aggressive S.O.B. at Leicester.

Whilst he is a bit twp, he was brilliant for Wales. His focused, controlled aggression and outstanding workrate at Finland away in 2002 still stands out as one of the best midfield performances I've seen. Gave a platform for better players to perform

Was often frustrated watching Robbie play. Showed great touches and obviously could be an effective destructive force, but always struck me that he often let emotion take over and ran about in headless chicken mode. Dunno if it was O'Neill's influence at Leicester or what but he became a kind of Vinnie Jones character and he was much better than that.

The fact that people tried to turn a positive into a negative (headless chicken etc) was a disgrace.

I used to watch him warming up on the pitch before matches and he had a really decent strike. He could actually hit a free kick as well … in practice!

People forget a good a footballer his dad was at Crewe, before he decided he was going to turn into an aggressive S.O.B. at Leicester. He talked about this on that Ellis James podcast - he claimed he was technically the best player in his school but that what happens is as you become a smaller fish in a bigger pond by rising through the age groups and enter the pro level your ability starts to regress compared to the better quality players around you and that’s how he describes himself going from a very technically gifted player in his younger years to pro who was known for no technical ability at all, just a guy whose job was to put his foot in.

I really like the way he cuts through a lot of the banalities you tend to get but that he does so with a very dry sense of humour. He gets bonus points from me for getting annoyed with whoever the Welsh pundits were on ITV during Euro 2020 when they were worried whether we would qualify after beating Turkey and he just shouts at them “you don’t want to say it, I’ll say it then- Wales have already qualified!” 😊

Whenever Maguire makes a mistake I think the YouTube algorithm heads straight for my homepage. Never forget when he said he'd be fighting Maguire and De Gea at half time.

Robbie Savage was criminally underrated, he was an absolute vital cog in O'Neill's Leicester, he was the heartbeat for Birmingham and brilliant for Blackburn too, allowing Tuncay to look like Pirlo at times. People just focus on the dives he did, the pantomime villain persona, his outspoken nature and the occasional dodgy tackle. There was far more to him than that, he'd be a brilliant addition to the current squad if we had him in his prime years now.

A host of championship and league one clubs vying to take him on loan apparently. Is it too arrogant to say that based on that short video against Melbourne he looks too good for league one? 😂 He’s not completely out of the picture at United at the moment given their midfield lynchpin is likely to be Fred in the absence of Frenkie de Jong.

I bet Sîon wishes he never listened to Barton and turned down that call up….

Would love to see him at Bolton. I think he would suit our possession style. I remember a match at the Reebok stadium 2001 against Leicester. His dad got Dean Holdsworth and Paul Warhurst sent off within the first 20 minutes, with the most outlandish theatrical display of play acting you could ever imagine (well, maybe from anyone but Robbie). There was narry a whisper of criticism aimed toward our beloved blonde thespian from the assembled hordes, "'twere all Mike Riley's doing". There was always a respect and appreciation amongst opposition fans, every one of us wanted Robbie in our team. Savage junior seems a completely different animal, but he will be welcomed with legend status and open arms at a whole host of league 1 clubs who still privately admire his dad for his particular set of skills.

Good move, will be good to see what he's like in senior football. Had a promising pre-season, he's 19 now, time to start accumulating senior appearances

Manager's just been sacked too. If that’s the case it suggests Savage was a board signing. Maybe the incoming manager will be encouraged to play him. Either way, going to be a tough assignment to make a name for himself in a team that poor.

FG looked very poor last night losing despite playing against 10 men for over an hour. Agree this looks poorly thought out by all parties, can't see a manager throwing an unknown quantity into an attritional situation like the green vegans are in. played more games than all their relegation rivals. they look a mess even by league 1 standards. Brandon Cooper pretty average tbh, but involved in a bizarre situation, being punched in the midriff but the wrong player being sent off, typical L1 officiating.

To put it bluntly, what a terrible move.
They already have a pretty bloated squad by the looks of things and a manager is never going to give youth a chance when the club are struggling.

If Charlie impresses in training and looks better than those that have been starting and failing he might get a chance, then it's up to him to take it.
