There was a drop of lowish quality hotel rooms overnight on the official accommodation website. Many have now gone, but its encouraging that they have started feeding through. There were twin rooms in pretty decent 2 star hotels at US$192 and 1 star at $110, though most/all have now gone. Just have to keep checking. A lot of the hotels were in a good area near the old town in Doha, not out in the sticks. Check the reviews before booking though (they are non refundable) as some of the reviews ere a bit dodgy. This is good to know as I'm leaning towards staying in Qatar vs Dubai. I'm only heading over for the USA game

Dubai Reds - would you agree that it is possibly better for Gwernbwych to locate himself around the DIP area (a couple of cheap hotels with bars there, Premier Inn, Mr. Toads Pub or the Expo site even perhaps) as it will be less of a ballache to get from there to DWC and more cost effective? Not as much to do or see of course but depends what the priority is I suppose? I agree and it does depend on people's preferences. DIP is Dubai Investment Park, a few cheaper options there. Would also suggest along with the Premier Inn, the Park Inn in Motor City (La Petit Belge - Belgian Beer Cafe), Radisson Damac Hills (Fire Lake) All close to Motor/Sports City - With several bars/golf clubs for a "Drink". No doubt there will be a "Fanzone" setup at Michael Salgados' Spanish Soccer School once again and a decent Sports Bar there called "Kickers". Ah! Yes, Kickers, Sports City with a hotel in Motor City is a good shout. Of course, if anyone wants the heads up on hotels/locations etc before you book, ping us a message and the Dubai based fans will be happy to assist of course.

Hi Dubai reds …just a quick message… obviously Abu Dhabi is nearer to Doha and having been to both places myself several times I’m wondering why more fans have not cottened onto the whole Abu Dhabi vibe. Lots of decent bars/ happy hours etc and very westernised. Also very little differences in prices.

Dubai for me and a mate. Just need the tickets to book the Dubai - Doha shuttle. If 12 out of the last 14 aways (inc. Poland and Netherlands) don't get me a ticket then god help us.

It seems we have the same issue as 2016, with the finals being classed as away games. In reality they are finals at a neutral venue. Can you imagine the outcry if a team got to a club final eg FACup or European and only made tickets available to those that had been away and excluded home season ticket holders and members

Those who do the hard yards going away should be duly rewarded.

Abu Dhabi is indeed a good option, particularly if driving to Qatar is on the agenda but the Abu Dhabi based low cost airline, Wizz Air, do not currently have any flights to Qatar and Etihad are charging approximately AED 4,000 per flight with Qatar Air charging AED 6,000 per flight. In comparison to Fly Dubai's AED 1,000 per flight with a choice of multiple carriers and flight options operating from Dubai probably means that it would be the most convenient base.

Think 15th is FIFA s date for release of those remaining tickets not picked up in the ballots- for those who haven’t paid for our didn’t want what they got offered! Surely FAW will have to sort out our allocation and uptake before then to give the unlucky ones an opportunity 🏴🏴

I know we have to be patient and Mooney is trying his best to get us more tickets, but the longer this goes on the less accommodation options we are getting as other nations have secured their tickets already. Some decent hotels were available the other day but now gone. Hopefully they keep trickling through.
Hoping this moves quickly once the Nations league games are over.

Just to add the point system for the euros considered the last 16 aways (with points for tournament tickets). see eblow WE'VE QUALIFIED! Thanks for the site-breaking enthusiasm! For those of you that didn’t manage to read our ticketing information here’s the full article...
Following qualification to UEFA EURO 2020, the following ticketing information has been made available.
The Red Wall members will be sent an access code to apply for tickets through the Wales fans’ portal.
Tickets available through this portal will be sold by UEFA on a first come first served basis. The FAW will not have an allocation to sell to fans.
The FAW will stagger the distribution of access codes based on how many loyalty points supporters have - the exact dates supporters can expect to receive their access codes will be confirmed in the next few days.
The points system implemented by the FAW considers memberships, tournament/campaign tickets, and away matches across the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign, the 2019 UEFA Nations League, and the Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.
Any away friendlies played across this period will also be taken into account. Points will be awarded as follows: • 2018 World Cup membership – 3 points • 2018-20 Red Wall Membership – 3 points • 2018 World Cup Tournament Ticket – 5 points • 2018-20 Red Wall Campaign Ticket (Purchased before UEFA Nations League) – 8 points • 2018-20 Red Wall Campaign Ticket (Purchased after UEFA Nations League) – 5 points • Each of the last 16 away match tickets – 2 points The maximum number of points a member can have is 51. The 16 away matches taken into consideration are: • Azerbaijan v Wales (16.11.2019) • Slovakia v Wales (10.10.2019) • Hungary v Wales (11.06.2019) • Croatia v Wales (08.06.2019) • Albania v Wales (20.12.2018) • Rep. of Ireland v Wales (16.10.2018) • Denmark v Wales (09.09.2018) • Mexico v Wales (28.05.2018) • China Cup – Wales v Uruguay (26.03.2018) • China Cup – China v Wales (22.03.2018) • France v Wales (10.11.2017) • Georgia v Wales (06.10.2017) • Moldova v Wales (05.09.2017) • Serbia v Wales (11.06.2017) • Rep. of Ireland v Wales (24.03.2017) • Austria v Wales (06.10.2016) T

So if we don’t get tickets directly through the FAW’s allocation, do we get another opportunity to buy through a general sale? I find it hard to believe Wales v Iran will sell out on general sale with any Welsh fans who want a ticket missing out.

Thanks for the ongoing information, it is most useful. What are the likely costs of a taxi from the airport to say the Jumeirah Mosque area? And bearing in mind the USA and ENG fixtures these shuttles are going to be landing in the middle of the night local time. Taxi's are cheap here. I live in an area called Town Square which is 45km (Port Talbot to Cardiff) from Dubai International Airport - costs 95AED, about 20 quid one-way. Jumeriah Mosque to DXB (Dubai International) airport will cost you about 40AED (8 quid) However, the shuttle flights will be from the other airport, DWC (Al Maktoum International) in Dubai South. That is 60km from you (Swansea to Cardiff equivalent), so will cost about 120 AED (25 quid) according to my Taxi app. What taxi app do you use?

FIFA are currently at the stage of receiving payment for their ‘Stage 2’. If you want a general sale ticket Iook at the FIFA ticketing website. The ticketing process has been ongoing for some time. Their not accepting applications right now but there is one phase left ‘the last minute sales phase’. Of course there will also be a Wales supporter ticket sales process. www.fifa.com/tournaments/mens/worldcup/qatar2022/news/sales-phases-fwc22

I hope everyone that goes has a great time, decided a long time ago that I'd give this a miss if we qualified. Gutted it's in Qatar, far too much money for somewhere I don't find interesting at all. The only thing I'd be a bit disappointed about is if we play Argentina at some point, I'd love to see Messi play for them. If it's not us, I hope Messi and Argentina win the WC.

Share Cadno's view... it's a pricey "trip too far"... (Was that me or the wife who said that?)
Hope though that FAW / Welsh Gov will arrange some really top class fan zones etc all over Wales during the tournament (although I expect domestic TV viewing - with lager and champagne - or viewing big screens, in a red rain jacket, in off-season pub beer gardens will also be better fun than you get in your average November/early December!)
C'mon Cymru!

I don’t know if I can be of any use, but as a Canadian navigating this process for the first time I have never had to work so hard to give someone obscene amounts of money.
The tickets process has been completely backwards, so in a sense qualifying as late as you did makes things less complicated. Did anyone apply for and get a Wales TST in the first lottery phase? I believe they should have been available in the first lottery. Almost no one I know had any luck in the first lottery, but quickly after that they had a first-come, first-serve window. This was crazy because there were almost no TSTs available, but they were selling individual matches before the draw. I understand they have done this before which is great if you live in a city that is hosting matches, you can buy for your city, but in Qatar all of the matches are in the same place. However, the smartest thing I did in this process was pick two absolutely random matches in the 10 pm kickoff time to try to get good matches and crucially get a ticket confirmation code that would allow me to book accommodations.
All tickets that were won in the second lottery (I went 1-for-6 in lottery 2) have to be paid for by June 15. I don’t know if they’ve held more back or not either, but once those tickets are paid for the rest should go into another first-come, first serve window. The date for that has not been announced, but I think it would be pretty soon after the 15th. Obviously getting Wales tickets through the FA is the best way to go, but there may be opportunities for more tickets to Welsh matches and/or other matches in the tournament (I’m going to as many matches as I can, I’m only coming for the football anyway).
I already had a FIFA.com account. I am not sure if you need one, but you will need a Qatar 2022 ticketing account and a Hayya card account. And they’re all different. I got in to the ticketing portal in 45 minutes in the first open window and then was asked to re-enter my Qatar ticketing login and was promptly kicked back to the queue and stayed there for six more hours before I could get in and buy two random matches. So learn from my mistakes.
I don’t know what to tell you about accommodations. I think it’s down to personal preference. There are some cheap options that seem like they are literally in the desert or are the work compounds for the poor bastards who built the stadiums. Some of those are as much as an hour by shuttle to the end of the metro line. I’d rather spend the extra money and save myself a lot of time. That being said, I think you’re one of the few teams that play all of their group matches in the same stadium. I haven’t looked but if there are cheap accommodations near Al Rayyan and Ahmed bin Ali Stadium then maybe staying well outside the city centre makes more sense. I am told that all accommodations must have air conditioning.
We’re in Najma which is south of the city centre. Each of Canada’s group matches is in a different stadium, so being central made the most sense for us. The neighbourhoods south of the city centre like Najma, Al Mansoura and Umm Ghuwailina seem to be popular. Najma is inside the C Ring, which is not bad in terms of being central. There were some good places between the C Ring and D Ring we considered as well (the lettered rings are roads that circle the harbour and give a rough idea of how far out you are). We have a two-bed, two-bath apartment for the three of us. It’s $130US/night each (so $390US total) and we have a kitchen, a dinning room with a TV and laundry. There were similar a little farther south and there are more restaurant options to the south in the Old Airport neighbourhood, but we decided we’re opt to being a few km closer to the harbour. We’re 10 mins from the Red Line on the metro and not much farther from the Green Line. There’s at least four more groups of Canadian supporters booked into our apartment complex (which is normally used to house the flight staff for the airlines). Almost all of the stadiums are outside the central part of Doha in different directions. The fan zones look to be mostly centrally located as well (though I can’t find the map I saved, two of them are in parks and there’s only a few of them in the whole country). I didn’t see as much accommodation available to the north or northwest of the centre of the city and with the parks, the West Bay and the Pearl being that direction, I get the sense that it’s a little more upscale and has more hotels. Najma, where we’re staying, has some restaurants and grocery stores, but otherwise looks kind of grim. Which is probably why we can afford it. When I looked the hotels (and the cruise ships) were well outside of my price range.
I know a lot of Americans are going to Abu Dhabi. A friend of mine is doing the same partly because his idea of fun definitely involves a lot of alcohol. I had no intentions of ever coming to this part of the world (and I had reservations even as our qualification looked more likely), but I’ve waited my whole life for this. I would be nervous waking up in another country and needing to catch a flight on match day, but the increased “commuter” flights sound like a great idea and should work well.
I haven’t had to contact them, but my understanding is that any questions about your tickets, Hayya card or accommodation booking or anything receive very prompt and helpful replies from the Qatar 2022 organizers.
I found the photo for the Hayya card to be a pain. I eventually a submitted a photo where I was pale as a sheet and totally washed out and the AI was fine with that. But I have Photoshop and it still took me six tries to get it accepted. The Hayya people also emailed me that my passport details and photo were approved and they were waiting on my accommodation booking. That confused me because that had been done for some time and it made it sound like I was needing to do something to confirm by accommodations, but it’s just a two-step process on their end and a few days later they confirmed that they found my booking and my Hayya card was done. You will get a ticket confirmation number that you need for your Hayya card and your lodging. You will need to download the Hayya app and I am quite certain they will be tracking your movements in country and possibly monitoring your communications. I haven’t decided if I’m taking a cheap “burner phone” for the trip or not.
As frustrating as this all has been at times, I am sure it is going to be worth it.

I’ve gone all in, Flights to Dubai booked and 12 days in Abu Dhabi as my base. I’ve been to Dubai & Abu Dhabi nearly 20 times which made the decision easier.
Decided that even if I cant get tickets I’ll make a holiday of it and book now before all the costs go up.
So just waiting to see what tickets I can get so I can then book the flights from Dubai to Doha as day day returns.
It’s becoming very real now 😀

Hi iot, I’ve dabbled with the idea of booking the FlyDubai flights but don’t want to waste the best part of £1,300 for me and my missus for the 3 games flying to Doha and back without having tickets.
There are loads of flights left with the exception of the return flights after the England game

There are loads of flights left with the exception of the return flights after the England game Hi - reason we went early is because I've heard once the shuttle flights reach a certain threshold, the price of a return goes up from the current £220 to around £800. Not sure if there's truth in that, but that's why we took the risk + having committed to going out, we'll make sure we get tickets one way or another even if it means paying around £300 a pop on one of those websites
