You are right, of course. Hence, I made no reference to the alc. asspect - which certainly will be tolerated in fan zones.
Still, vaping has become illegal since 2014 and there are very harsh sentences if bringing any into the country.
If I were a vape-head, I'd switch to Marlboro Light for a few weeks ;-)

For people staying in Dubai what time flights are you booking for into and out of Doha? We’ve booked flights from Dubai, for the USA game we arrive in Qatar at 15.25 and fly back at 07.15 hours. It’s not what I wanted, but I’ve been away and didn't have access to the internet and had to takecwhat was left. For the Iran game, we arrive in Qatar at 06.50 and return at 7pm. We’re using flydubai and Qatar airlines.

Is it much cheaper? Yes I'm being lazy by not doing my own research

I worked it out that the £600+ for the 3 games we’d spend on the flights to Doha and back would be off set by the free food and drink in our Al Inclusive Hotel and also the standard of accommodation in our hotel Iimagine our 40m2 room with a balcony with a sea view is going to be better, and probably cheaper than anything offered in Qatar, Eg an inside cabin on a ship or a converted container. Plus with our friends we’re going to make a real holiday of it.
I’ve no interest in Qatar, I’m only interested in Wales which is why we are staying in Abu Dhabi and it has much more to do there. I’ve done the World Cup experience in 2006 in Germany and it was superb, this I feel is not going to compare as most ‘real’ fans aren’t going to be there. Don’t get me wrong I think it’ll be good to stay there but not great due to the lack of freedom you’d get in Europe, Asia or the Americas
I was 50/50 wether to go but the pull to watch Wales play in a World Cup was just to much
oh yes, there was no criteria to book these flights, we’re all flying with Qatar which you’d need to book via their matchday shuttle website. The we’re going for £216 (exchange rate dependant) on Tuesday when the tickets were realised as the rest of my lot booked them once they bagged their match tickets) I gambled and bought them before in case they went up once the match tickets were sold. I got the flights vis skyscanner on last minute.com for less than £190 per return flight about 2 weeks ago.

It could be played in hell I would have gone. But the cost and logistics are nightmare. As I'm putting all together now. This gives me options to look at Fly in for usa and back missing Iran game . But staying from England to exit after that

No problem, I edited my post after your above to add the costs and who we booked with.
I mentioned in another post that my mate is looking to room up with someone in our hotel in Abu Dhabi. It looks like he’s going to the F1 Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi on the Sunday 20th then do the Dubai 7’s after the group stages…..not a bad trip 🤣
It would work out about £160 a night for you in a high end 5* All Inclusive hotel with a balcony and sea view and there are 7 speciality restaurants included and they are all included and the drinks are all premium brand. I’ve stayed there a few times and it’s the dogs bollox.
I’ve organised private transfers to the airport and back for each match too, not included in the cost above 🤣 We arrive on the 20th and are booked to come back on the 2nd but would stay if we get to the last 16.

We've calculated that our week long trip for the first two games (staying in Dubai) will cost us over £1,100 less than Wonky Sheep's offering in Qatar, even after taking into account two return shuttle flights.
Of course the downside is that we can't go to other countries' games during our off days, so that's the trade off I suppose.
It does help that the flight from Manchester (£360 return) and the hotel was a relative bargain and that we've got Cat 3 tickets rather than the more expensive ones.

I've spent just less than £1500 on Heathrow - Doha return Qatar Airways flights, 5 nights in an apartment in Doha, and tickets for Wales/Iran, Canada/Croatia, Wales/England

Cost me £1285 in total. £750 flight for Manchester to Doha, 4 nights in the fan park £370. Tickets for USA & Iran plus tickets for the glamour tie Denmark v Tunisia £165. Arrive the Monday morning of the USA game & fly back 1:30am the morning after the Iran game.
Cannot wait now.

Really struggling to find any sort of accomodation in Qatar....everything is booked out it seems from Nov 20 to 30th. Obvs cant stretch to the 5 star options.
Only options is the converted shipping container! (Which is growing on me but concerned how far away they are from everything) Hotels, apartments and affordable options on the cruise ships all gone for November at least.
Looks like we are gonna have to keep moving around and booking single nights at a time. Just want a base.
I keep refreshing and checking in but seems like a real lack of new options coming online at the moment. Hope they release more soon as starting get a bit stressed now.

As alluded to the only viable, affordable accomodation options are the cabin container things.
My conundrum and it's something that I doubt anyone will be able to answer is that I land in Qatar at 4am local time.
Realistically I'll probably be at the fan village by half 6am, at which I'd like to get my head down for a few hours/leave my bag etc.
At this time though, this will probably mean having to pay an extra night to get access immediately, assuming check isn't until the afternoon. Could sleep on the beach or something but is that advisable in Qatar?

My theory is they will let me in my room when I arrive as we play first day of the tournament so no one would be checking out that day anyway, no one would have stayed in there before so surely it’ll be ok to check in & Get a couple of hours sleep. I’m stopping in the fan park next to our ground for the first 2 nights then stopping at the one by the airport. As I couldn’t get 4 nights at the first one. The one by our ground is next to a mall which has a carrefour sup market which is handy. All fan parks are close to a metro. The room has a fridge in too

You should be ok as you could be the first of the guests there. I'm only going for our second game so the tournament will be in full swing and presumably the cabins will have people in them when I arrive before they check out (could be in the afternoon?)

Just a question now of whether I want to pay an extra night (for which my cabin will be empty all night) or find a beach lounger to sleep on for a few hours...

Most flights from Europe and UK arrive in Middle East late at night / early in the morning. Most hotels clearly state if you want an early check in you MUST pay for the previous night. This is pretty standard

Unless I’m missing something, there are next to no shuttles left for the England game now without paying a kings ransom?
Doing the last two games so this will probably mean staying in Doba

Accommodation in Doha is not as expensive as many thought. It’s roughly the same as Dubai hotels plus the shuttle flights and transfers so save yourself the hassle

But accommodation has been poorly handled by FIFA in my view. It just hasn’t been clear what the price of accommodation would be, and the drip drip feed of accommodation onto the FIFA portal has made it something of a lottery for fans of when and what to book.
