An interesting article here talking about the numbers of official tickets available to England supporters at their game. Apparently their allocation is 2339 for the game with Wales/Scotland/Ukraine. Presumably we'd get the same, and all 3 of our matches would be at that stadium so that might be the standard allocation that we can expect. www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/england-tickets-world-cup-iran-26836607So if each side gets about 2,500 tickets, who do the other 45,000 go to? Sponsors? That is pathetic

So room prices stay super high ;-(

Mind you its not much better in the Euros, the bulk of the tickets usually are for the neutral zone or for corporate sponsors. I actually think ticket sales will be piss poor for this World Cup. I bet England will have loads there because it’s not too far away but for most I bet it will be too expensive a World Cup at a time when the global economy is in the shitter.

I think only wealthy fans will be going from countries who qualify regularly. Easy to give it a miss when you know you'll have chance after chance to see your country at a world cup, and in much better locations. I cant see many average fans being able to justify to their families that they're about to drop 5 grand on a trip to Qatar just before Christmas.

All the time I've been wondering if I'll go to the finals if Wales qualify I've been thinking about cost/availability of flights and accommodation, how much annual leave I might need to take, and if ethically I want to support a Qatar world cup with all the human rights issues.
Not once did I stop to consider if I'd actually be able to get a match ticket! I assumed this was a given as a red wall member who regularly travels away. Looks like only the most loyal 2300 will be guaranteed a ticket (and yes, a proportion of then might not go) but it adds yet another headache into the equation.
What a nightmare of a world cup!

Will have to find out when tickets are available on general sale (have they already been sold?) And then hope to get the right matches in time to book accommodation. Whereas in 2016 I was able to buy 2 "follow my team" tickets and take a friend to each match. And accommodation wasn't an issue as I was able to take my camper van. Presumably this time it will be one ticket per applicant (which is fair enough) but it's just making every step a bit more difficult..

I see flights to and from Qatar are falling. Out on the Sunday before the first game. Back the day after the last game is now £ 936 with direct flights on BA. The surge in early booking and algorithms were bound to send the prices high initially but the severe limits on tickets, accommodation it was probably going to ease. I expect to ease further once the holiday operators realise there's not enough punters with tickets to fill their places and start cancelling seats Accommodation is another thing though. never enough places available but the restrictions on entering the country without tickets will help.

An interesting, but not mood improving, article here www.theguardian.com/football/2022/may/21/the-final-countdown-to-the-world-cup-in-qatar-is-still-full-of-uncertaintySome chosen 'highlights' - Reports from different countries seem to back up the bigger picture. England have not sold out their allocation for their group games or prospective knockout fixtures. Only the match against (potentially) Scotland or Wales has got close, with two of three ticket categories oversubscribed. Reports from France suggest their travelling support is going to be less than a quarter of what it was in Russia.

Clearly nobodies committing at the moment and by that I mean the England fans who know they're there. The return price on BA out the weekend before and back the day after the last group game has now dropped below £ 700 in some cases.

Hope the next few tournaments are better places for fans and not awarded on corruption.

Got bed and breakfast on one of the cruise ships for £1100 between 2 of us which was not bad considering i thought.

As a bit of a heads up, and some positive news, prices for flights from Dubai have dropped from almost 4000AED+ to 1800AED+, this is for the peak weekend of 1st December as that is a UAE National holiday.
So you can do a return back and forth to Qatar for near 400pounds a trip. Still very expensive but that is the current going rate for premium airlines in the region.
One recommendation is using an Etihad, Emirates, Qatar or Oman Air and doing a "multi-city" options, with stopovers for a few days if well planned. Just a thought if you want to stay indifferent areas due to limited accommodation in Qatar.

That's good news, just hope that Fly Dubai, which is essentially the Easyjet/RyanAir of Dubai is sensible with the prices. AED 1,000 - AED 1,200 would be decent but perhaps AED 1,600 - AED 1,800 would be more likely.

Accommodation in Qatar is limited at the moment. I am able to see as I have tickets for a game so here is an indiction of what the website loks like (see the attachements) Basically, for 2 nights for 2 adults for the England game (Monday and Tuesday), there are no Cruise Ship or Hotels left! They do have a fan park accommodation (which is glorified Portacabin) (From $210 USD) and the next cheapest is random apartments (from $360 USD) in areas not so desirable areas i.e. not near anything!

A lovely lady out here, Claire, has travel packages for all fans who wish to go from the UAE (Dubai or RAK - Ras Al Khaimah) She has a brochure with packages, I've pasted the majority of the content here. Send a PM or email Claire below for the main brochure. TO RESERVE
Please email: arabiangolftour@gmail.com NO PAYMENT WILL BE REQUIRED UNTIL WE QUALIFY. Overview
Upon seeing that Qatar is full and only allowing ticket holders and with unfortunate delay to this group being decided, I took it upon myself, with the support of a few key people, to contact the airlines for charters and hotels in the UAE in order to get the best options available for the FIFA Qatar 2022 World Cup. I have focussed on both Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah. RAK gives you more for your money and is just an hour from Dubai Airport. We will be able to arrange trips to Dubai from RAK. Some properties are DRY, (Jannah) meaning they have no bars but don’t worry, you can bring in from the airport and I’ll advise where the nearest booze shop is. There’s also delivery available. Included are some premium properties for those of you that want to go all out and also some more mid-range and ‘budget’ options. I’ll list some key apps required at the end this brochure. FLIGHTS
Individuals will need to book their own flights from the UK (or elsewhere) to Dubai. PLEASE BOOK WITH THE AIRLINE DIRECTLY. This will save all sorts of headaches should anything go wrong. Booking through a 3rd party is not advised. Direct from UK: Emirates and BA to Dubai. (Etihad and BA to Abu Dhabi) Indirect: One stop - KLM, Gulf Air, Qatar Airways, Saudia (dry), Royal Jordanian, Oman Vaccines will need to be up to date. Bring copies of your vaccine status. Download the Al Hosn app before you travel and register on it whilst still in the UK. This is needed currently for Qatar. The UAE is super relaxed but things can change. Currently you will still be expected to wear masks indoors. Golfers can bring their clubs for free with Emirates. Other Airlines you will need to check their policy. IMPORTANT: Don’t forget TRAVEL INSURANCE SHUTTLE and/or CHARTER
At the time of writing, the shuttle has been announced but the flights have not gone live yet. SOON. Both FlyDubai and Qatar Airways will service the UAE. Oman, Saudia, Kuwait are self-explanatory. Prices will go live soon. They’re expected to be very competitive. Maybe not quite Ryan Air but we’ll see. Packages will be available for multi-entry visitors. Both Hamad and Doha airports will work at capacity. Dubai Airport will have a separate section dedicated for the WC only. If you’re visiting Qatar multiple times you will only need to go through biometrics and security the first time you land. State of the art immigration systems will be used, so you can just scan in on your next visit. All transportation within Qatar is free. Shuttle Buses either direct to the stadium or to the metro that will take you to the appropriate Stadium. Charter flights are also available, should there be a requirement. DUBAI Welcome to Dubai - where anything is possible.
Once a small fishing village in the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is today one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. One of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates, the city is home to more than 200 nationalities and offers an unforgettable experience to all visitors. Whether it is by the banks of the Creek, or at the top of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, Dubai lives and breathes a sense of possibility and innovation. And with an unparalleled coastline, beautiful desert and magnificent cityscapes, memories are just waiting to be made here.
