Finally they've rebounded from that 2017-2022 spell. Some interesting results in the NL over the last few days.
In group B1, Georgia continue their recent rise. An impressive 4-1 victory over the Czech R.
In our B4, Iceland beat Montenegro 2-0. But maybe the match stats (argument ensues!) suggests it might have been a closer match than the final scoreline suggests.

Declan Rice with surely the first muted celebration out of " respect" for his former team in international football? 2 former Irishmen on the scoresheet. Must be tough to take That Grealish goal was a superb move & finish to be fair. Looking at that YBIG forum and the players eligible for Ireland thread they are eyeing up some Northern Ireland players. They're all eligible aren't they? It's a bit of a murky situation isn't it? I imagine anyone from a nationalist/republican background would rather play for ROI (McClean for instance)

I presume they must be eligible but it is but must be upsetting/frustrating for the Northern Ireland age group coaches it's like one of these category 1 academy premiership teams pinching your players but in this case absolutely no compensation forth coming.
But just as long as they do not come chasing Welsh players .

I think its a very different situation to an English born Welsh player for instance

Watching Northern Ireland, looks like they're bringing a new generation through but Bulgaria very much on top. 1-0 to Bulgaria at half time

Portugal have been by far the better team, but I wish we could have a go at the bigger nations like Scotland do

Scotland have been much better since half time and Ronaldo came on, amazing player obviously but Portugal seem a bit less free flowing since he's been on,cue him to score of course

Another late goal conceded. They have a very good midfield, but the defence and attack are a real step down from it

I see modric scored the winner tonight as well, him and Ronaldo are pretty amazing to be fair, the thing that gets me is they always seem to be there,as in they never seen to have long term/have to manage injuries, like bale Ramsey etc, I'm sure they must have injuries but they always seem to be there, amazing really

Remarkable and impressive, but there's some luck involved as well. How different is Ramsey's career without Shawcross?

Yep very true with Ramsey,it's not so much the broken bone is it but the tendons and ligaments, life changer for a player like him no doubt,he did amazing anyway but he really was special, could have done so much more with a reliable body, but hey themselves the breaks

Still had a class career like you said Shit, 18 apparently! Unbelievable. Good performance under Tosh youtu.be/Z4iNyR_ZsaQ?si=iYV2-MiIKmuio2F8

Without that injury Rambo would be our most capped player & his achievements would have matched Bale.

What we have seen with Rambo is what a passionate Welshman he is! We all know that Bale was but Rambo also made himself available and given his terrible recent injury history the fact he still makes himself available rather than prioritise his limited club career is pretty astonishing.
Thank you Rambo!

Caps & goals update:
Ampadu stays on track to smash the record. Turns 24 in a few days and now sits on 54 caps.
Ben Davies the most capped member of the squad now (unless Hennessey comes back). He hits 88 now, and if all goes well he will hit 100 caps by the end of the World Cup qualifiers
Ramsey now on 86 caps, and if we make it to the World Cup he has a decent chance of making 100. His injury record could count against him, but he's got a decent chance if he keeps himself fit. Still the top scorer in the squad on 21
Harry Wilson approaches double figures after this evening's goal, his 9th overall and his first goal outside the box since that free kick against Ireland (yes that surprised me too!)
Kieffer is the 2nd top scorer in the squad with his 13th international goal. 3 more goals and he makes the all time top 10 scorers list, 4 more and he'd be 8th on the list

Him and Bale would both have probably topped 130 if they were both less injury prone

Him and Bale would both have probably topped 130 if they were both less injury prone Bale achieved 69% caps for the time between debut and his final game, 111 caps out of 160 games. Ashley Williams had 86 caps out of 98 games between debut and his final game.

Mad to think that Ashley Williams made his debut at about the same age Ampadu is now! And we played a lot less games during Ash’s career, 1 tournament, no nations league and no mandatory friendlies.
