Can you imagine drawing against USA and needing a result against an England team already through Remember how they talked a big game about how finishing second was better and they were going to “take a dive” against Belgium in 2018? They’ll do the same against us and be shameless about it if it gives them a weaker side in the round of 16

Who's your money on to win it outright? Think Argentina and Brazil will be found out by the European elite. France or Spain for me.

I can't see a non European team ever winning it again, all the money is in European football now. International football is nothing to do with money. The fact is, nobody in Argentina wants to play at centre back or in midfield. Even Rodrigo De Paul is a begrudging midfielder who wasn't good enough for the sexy positions further up or out wide.

An interesting stat:
People have been casting about for the group of death and it seems like there isn’t one if you go by big names. However if Wales qualify and you go by ranking then group B is officially the group of death as you can throw a blanket over that group compared to the others. Weird as it doesn’t really seem that competitive on paper….saying that though I’ve been enlightened tonight that Iran is not the easy walkover it might be thought of without a detailed statistical view. The uS in many ways would look the easiest team to beat in that group.

We’ll play all our games at the same ground. Everyone else in our group plays at three different stadiums. Not good for those travelling that like a bit of variety!

One of the great things about 2016 was travelling around and visiting different stadiums, and one of the only good things about Qatar is that is has a number of brand new and quite interesting stadiums.

Both are always ranked top 20 but in reality aren't that good

YBIG site not too active tonight ... must be all out on the town We're all quietly hoping that Ukraine first wipe the floor with the mini-Brits (Scotland) before knocking out the little-Englanders in the final. I'll be backing them to do it, when you're a proper country and have fought to defend it you go up a gear or two, especially when you have to play against one of two half-arsed british provinces as opposed to fully fledged countries. The comments on here about the Scots are laughable, from an outside perspective you're both pathetic non countries with a meddling past as bad as Englands. Wales and it's Scottish brothers have a lot in common... LOL Why post here?

Sunday 18th December 3pm kick off. Thanks for that. Fantastic to have our potential 1st match v USA as a 10pm local time kick off. Same goes for the 3rd match. The Iran game at 1pm local time must favour them locals...
We need to win our first match and certainly aim from then to win the group.
I feel a semi coming on ;-))
NB - I see that the england game v Iran is also a hot 4pm local time ko. Reminds me a lot of 2016 and the english may well struggle in their first game. The USA have all 3 games at 10pm - which must give them an advantage - even if just a psychological one.

I'm concerned that for the third game England fans will be already trying to snap up all the tickets. Hopefully they hold some back for whoever might be playing. The relevant FA will get so many but the rest if 40k will be quickly snapped up by England fans

All looking like sunburnt thumbs thanks to the toxic combination of desert heat and expensive lager. I can’t wait.

England fans will have already had accommodation sorted long in advance.
For Scotland or Wales, I'm not sure there's going to be anything by the time we qualify. I imagine England will be there in big numbers, but it's hard to envisage there being many of us in the circumstances.

I’m looking into basing in Abu Dhabi and either hiring a car to drive to Doha and back in a day or hire a driver and car. Fuel, car rental and private drivers are cheap in AD I’ve been there a few times and there’s plenty to do, Warner Bros World, the F1 race track, Ferrari World and you can get a decent package deal to go there and make a holiday of it. AD is closer to Qatar than Dubai and is generally cheaper
Only thing I haven’t looked into is how difficult it is entering and leaving Saudi to get into and out of Qatar
I’m waiting on prices back from a few companies for private hire for a round trip so If anyone is thinking of doing this option let me know and I can look into hiring a people carrier or mini bus

I did the briefest of research yesterday and it seems that there is a history of the Saudi borders being opened and closed for various reasons though (ps: got to get their first)

I may be wrong but I can't see Wales having more than 5000 fans there at a push.
