Bleeding eck. Even mineral water is a fiver! That was my thoughts too. Shocking prices, hopefully they’ll be a lot cheaper in the happy hour!

Mid for the reports have been saying anything from £12-£17 a pint (if you can even get beer) so this doesn’t sound as bad.

Happy hour till 8pm seems to be in most bars so will definitely have to take advantage of that. Belgian cafe at the intercontinental hotel looks good. It’s Close to (al qassar) metro. Most of the bars seem to be situated in hotels. Quite a few look close together in the west Bay Area. The Irish harp, champions sports bar, the den, shamrock tavern, brewskis & grub, shots sports bar are all there. Nearest metro stop DECC. The Wales team hotel Delta by Marriott is also in that area.
You can book tables in advance for some of these on OpenTable or similar. Which I’ll probably do as there are so few bars on the city they are all surely going to be rammed

This was my major concern with staying Doha with all the grounds thus the fans all being in one city sharing a hand full of western type bars and because of the cost of food and drink there if it’s anything like the UAE which it seems it is.
If it’s possible I’d book tables as soon as possible.

Looks about right. The FAW put it out on their website a few weeks ago then the team are staying At the Delta by Marriott hotel in the west Bay Area. From what I can see it’s a new hotel that still isn’t even open yet. I’m guessing fifa reserved 32 hotels for teams & as we qualified so late have got the dregs. Though the training facilities are those of Al Saad fc which are the top team in Qatar, so I’d imagine it’s top draw.

The Mall of Qatar is literally across the road from the stadium we’re playing in. plenty of food options including the usual KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut etc etc etc. www.mallofqatar.com.qa/english/dining

Beef bacon will be interesting

I wonder how busy all these bars etc will be considering that 1 City is hosting the fans of all the teams in the WC ?

I wonder how busy all these bars etc will be considering that 1 City is hosting the fans of all the teams in the WC ? I’m sure it will be fine. Yeah probably busy but not over the top. Due to the location I can’t see there being as many fans as a normal World Cup, and not everybody is staying in Qatar afterall. Plus you got fan camps etc which a normal host city wouldn’t have.

I think a lot of people will just get by without drinking all day every day, plenty else to do with the biggest show on Earth happening all around us.

That should be a great 6km walk around the bay between the Sheraton and MIA Park, with the official FIFA fan zone just off that in Al Bidda Park too. Still curious how and if alcohol will be sold at these festivities as they'll be outside and in view of everyone. Unless the drinking areas are hidden away in tents outside of public view or something. Not really a deal breaker for me though.

www.qatar2022.qa/sites/default/files/docs/Fan-Zone-Guide.pdfBeer wise, this is a guide to the World club championship in 2019 which was played in Qatar. They were charging equivalent of £4.50-5 a beer along with entertainment. Looks like it’s going to be similar for the World Cup but I’d expect only a couple of the games zones to sell alcohol and they’ll be the ones away from the City.

In flying in for 24 hours for the USA game. Is there anywhere that I can leave my luggage whilst I go to the game? I can't see any lockers in the airport
