Anyone who is more familiar with Doha than me know of places that will be open until 3/4am for a few pints after a game while waiting before the airport?
I have seen a lot of places advertised as 2am close, my boss in work says he's been to a few clubs until stupid o'clock, and they will likely extend the licensing hours to longer, otherwise the airport will be carnage.

Is this a major change, I’m presuming they’ll be adequate transport links to get into central Doha?

They are next door to each other, Hamad was opened in 2014.
DIA is the old airport, same runways I think, it's basically another Terminal.
Not sure what the facilities are for hanging around though.

Random question, but I've got a mate who is after a can of 'Fizzin', which is a malt beverage available in Qatar. This is obviously an ask but is anyone in Qatar at the mo and able to get a can to Wales in the next month or two (before the WC ideally). Happy to cover any costs obviously and would be hugely grateful.

Not sure if it's confirmed but there was that news the other day that we'd be able to consume alcohol up 3 hours before games. How will this work then? Because in the groups there's 4 games a day, each with 3 gaps between ko's. So you can technically drink from 3 hrs before the days first ko at 10am and presumably continue until the last game of the day kicks off at 10pm? Even though we know hotels serve with no time restrictions?
Where are they referring to when the say we can drink up to 3 hours prior to games? The designated fan zones in the city? Or areas around the grounds? In the grounds?

So basically unless you get to the stadium really early it won’t affect you.

It’s pretty straight forward. All grounds will have a fan area nearby selling booze for 3 hrs before kick off.

Does anyone know if we are able to get Qatar currency in the UK before we travel? We tried with Travel House but they said no however someone told me they ordered theirs from TUI who said currency will be ready for them before they fly out.

Should be able to do Click-and-collect with Travelex or Tesco etc. Sure you can get some delivered to home also.

I've always found Eurochange to be decent and they have Qatari Riyals listed. Usually a few days wait on currencies they don't keep in stock.

It’s pretty straight forward. All grounds will have a fan area nearby selling booze for 3 hrs before kick off. Surely it's the opposite -that booze will be served for a 3 hour period leading up to kick offs? So for 1pm ko v Iran for example, booze will be served from 10am (I have my doubts on that mind, maybe the early ko is a bad example). Sorry quoted wrong person. Right so there'll be fan park type areas outside all the stadiums as well the few central fan zones in Doha?

www.timeoutdoha.com/sport-wellbeing/world-cup-qatar-2022-fan-zonesWill there be alcohol at the fan zones at Qatar 2022?
Alcohol will be available to purchase at the FIFA Fan Festival in Al Bidda Park between 6.30pm and 1am daily, FIFA has said. The price for the hops available has not yet been confirmed. Fans will also be able to purchase alcohol inside World Cup stadium compounds, but not at concourse concession stands within the stadium bowl. Spectators will be able to purchase alcohol three hours before kick-off, and up to an hour after the final whistle. Non-alcoholic hops will be available to buy throughout matches. So currently, FanZone is dry (no alcohol) until 6:30pm (After Sunset/last night prayer), but available outside the stadiums beforehand in the designated areas. My gut feeling is that the FanZone will change to align to 12 noon.

We land at 7am on the day of the Iran game (1pm kick off local time).
I wondered if anyone knew of anywhere to leave/store our luggage, as we can't get into our accommodation until 3pm

Hi all. I was just on a call, along with various other worldwide fans, to hear the security measures being adopted on entering stadiums in Qatar. It is clear that they are taking this very seriously. The stadium code of conduct can be found here: digitalhub.fifa.com/m/33ad3969e51a407b/original/Stadium-Code-of-Conduct.pdfPlease note that flags over 2m x 1.5m are generally not allowed. However, there is a procedure through which you can apply to have larger flags permitted, but this will require prior approval. To do this, it will be necessary to fill out a form, which can be obtained by e-mailing Fan@2022.qa. I'm told the form is long and detailed to try and ensure there is nothing politically sensitive. And if anyone wants to go through this process I would encourage you to do it asap as nothing moves quickly with these folks. Placing flags inside the stadium will be on a first come first served basis, and no flags will be allowed along the side of the pitch (at pitch level) on the side opposite the tv cameras. However, they will apparently be permitted along that side at higher levels than pitch side. This also applies to any instruments which are larger than 60cm x 40 cm i.e. small enough to get through the stadium scanning machines. Again, any exceptions must be pre-approved. Amongst other items prohibited are camera lenses over 10cm, self sticks of any description/size, umbrellas, any food or drink and in terms of battery packs, these will be allowed, but limited to 1 per person. I know we are all used to increased security these days, but it seems likely that the Qatari authorities will push this to a new level in terms of stadium access and prohibited items. Just wanted to give you a heads up about what they are saying on this matter. I hope its helpful in planning what you take and/or getting approval for anything outside the norm.
