It will be worth " shopping around " for drink packages and it seems the closer you are to West Bay the more expensive it is ( Gol Party drinks packages are around £78 for 5 pints and food in the Intercontinental Hotel). Shamrock Pub works out around £12 a pint , there is an Instagram account called Doha Deals worth looking at.

That is not correct it is £79 for 5 pints and a meal. Still extortionate but get it right. Assuming its £20 for the meal that's £12 a pint
Worst part is there is no entry unless you buy a package so they'll have to drop their prices or scrap that if they want to fill the place

I may actually spend less on this trip than I would on a usual Wales away, due to less opportunity to actually buy a drink!

Agreed. I cant see me drinking much at all. I refuse to pay that sort of money for a pint then not be relaxed to do/say the wrong thing and end up banged up. I'll mostly stick to soft drinks I think. Possibly have a couple in happy hour. These drinks packages I've seen are extortionate. Not for me ta.

We've got a transfer booked from the airport when we arrive but after that I think we'll give the taxis a wide berth where possible. The last thing you want is to get into a row with a cab driver over being ripped off, it will only end one way.

I’m seriously shocked by some of the prices of those packages.

I’m seriously shocked by some of the prices of those packages. They are on the cheap side from what I've seen publicised! I've seen a few charging around Qar 500 (£120ish) for similar. Or just charging around £30-40 for entry I'm quite happy to find the restaurants and cafes that local typically use so avoiding the big hotels and 'british' pubs. I can live without drinking for a week

Same here, planning on having a few beers near the grounds (got a game a day) then fan parks for the other games. Don’t want to be restricted by packages and entrance fees but if decent options crop up when we’re there I could be tempted.

Anyone know of any Qatar residents willing to pop to the offy for a few thousand of us? Funny you should say this, there is a Welsh fan living in Qatar that has offered and has stocked up from the Off Licence... He's @callanbowden (CallanInQatar) on Twitter, also runs the @redwallqatar page too. A few things from his price list: 24 x can San Miguel = 400 QAR (Roughly 16 QAR per can, £4) 1 Litre Rostov Vodka = 400 QAR 3L Wine Box = 450 QAR Obviously expensive, but nice to have a few in the apartment His number is +974 5013 3837 if you want to place an order (He doesn't ask for anything up front, and has offered to deliver mine to my apartment on the day I arrive in Qatar!

Just a bit of info on some costs in Qatar as I thought the UAE was expensive!!
We are staying in Abu Dhabi and have booked all our transfers via booking.com as I’ve used them before and the prices are excellent and the service / communication has always been superb
The cost of an executive people carrier from Dubai to Abu Dhabi cost £143 for 6 of us and it’s a 90min trip Also our matchday transfers from our hotel for 4 of us to Al Maktoum Airport is £91 around a 75min journey.
I thought I’d book a transfer from Hamad International Aiport to Al Bidda Fan park as I imagine it’ll be busy on the airport metro and queues for taxis long and as we’re only there for 10 hours I want to be out and about not waiting in queues also bearing in mind we are on the first day proper matchday shuttles day so in effect we’re going to be the guinea pigs.
The cost I hear you say for this 10mile journey for the 4 of us is 🥁🥁🥁 £336.00 ….I sh1t you not As mentioned I’ve always found transfers on booking.com very competitive… obviously not in Qatar with the World Cup factor built in.
So in comparison to our £91 transfer in Abu Dhabi which is 70 miles to a journey in Doha, a 7th of the distance, costs approx 4 times as much.
Is this a taste of things to come.
Looks like it’s the metro for us

If they're as greedy as is being widely suggested it will be an absolute PR disaster.

Have you booked? I thought it meant the price quoted was with 10% off and it would be 10% more if you don't pre book. Still a rip off either way.
Hopefully no one pre books and they are forced to drop their prices

I can't see them bringing the prices down, and it doesn't look much more expensive than other places does it? Less so if anything

£12 or so seems to be the going rate for a pint out there especially the hotels in the Bay , not heard what fanzones and stadium zone are charging for a pint yet . Also hoping that Hayya card will count as entry id as we don't really want to be taking passports everywhere.

The deal in the pub on the previous page comes to £8 a pint, that's a lot less. I was under the impression the venue for our parties would be doing special prices for us but unfortunately that's not the case. Probably out of Gol organisers hands but it feels like the venue is cashing in on us.

Will save me a fortune as I'm not paying a premium for that swill

Anyone had any luck prebooking drinks and food packages yet?
Im looking for somewhere on the 21st around by Al Bidda if possible.
We’re flying in from Dubai so it’s not like we can get in somewhere early doors so it would be good if we could have somewhere pre booked

Did you not sign up to the gol party? Not sure if it's too late, might be worth contacting Leigh at Leigh_wales@yahoo.co.uk They have capacity for 1,200 people, all Welsh fans
