The deal in the pub on the previous page comes to £8 a pint, that's a lot less. I was under the impression the venue for our parties would be doing special prices for us but unfortunately that's not the case. Probably out of Gol organisers hands but it feels like the venue is cashing in on us. On of the venues for the Gol parties is the Vista55 bar. Funnily enough located on the 55th floor. They have a happy hour between 5 and 8. Prices look reasonable. Attachments:

Might try as a bit like the bar in the Shard - it may be overpriced but you'll get a good view. Crazy we think £7.50 for a bottle of average lager during happy hour is reasonable though!

To the people who are concerned about the price of a pint have you considered not drinking alcohol ? Stick to the water and save a fortune

I'll probably skip booze as atrocious value and largely poor brands. Even soft drinks are very overpriced.
Perish the thought people might want to have an affordable drink during what is meant to be a trip of a lifetime

I haven’t touched a drop of booze since the day after we qualified. I might treat myself to the odd £15 pint if I get the chance...if I don't then I won't lose too much sleep. 😉 I'm sure the coffee is nice there.

Are they still planning to do the stadium-to-stadium express bus service they were advertising? I'm doing two games most days and it would be very handy, but it's disappeared from the official website which makes me think they're no longer going to be doing it. Shame if so, because we simply don't know whether the metro will cope with the numbers.

No alcohol is going to served at stadiums now, what a farce.

Breaking news on sky that Qater have performed a massive U turn and banned alcohol sales in and around the stadiums. What a joke. Sad times for fans hoping for a beer before a match.

Oh dear:
Im no fan of the Budweiser corporation but they have the clout to sue the f*** out of FIFA and I really hope they do

£11.50 plus for a Budweiser - doubt that'd get many takers anyhow
Qatar seem all over the place organisationally and I'm not sure they have any understanding of football fans.

It’s gonna be a farce with fans turning up late. No booze, no shade, the heat, etc. Why would anyone turn up hours before kickoff?

I think you can take that as an indication of the zero tolerance of any form of exuberance unless sat in your seat at the ground. Pathetic.

I can't say that it bothers me particularly as a £12 plastic glass of watered down Bud didn't really appeal anyway.
But its poor form to perform this u-turn at this late stage and the Budweiser corporation can be rightfully pissed off.

Anyone know if the Senegal v Netherlands game will be shown outside the ground before our game? I cant find any info on this. Same applies to all other grounds in the 3 hrs before kick off, will there be a screen showing the game on at that time?
Im assuming the lack of info means no

There was definitely mention of it in the pre tournament comms regarding the match day stadium zones. But then they also mentioned alcohol would be sold so clearly nothing is for certain.

Same - my worry is they could end up doing u-turns on pretty much anything based on this. No free metro, stop the shuttle buses, close the fanzones etc

I’ve said it countless times before, but FIFA should be ashamed of themselves.
They won’t be of course because everyone involved with this circus has had a morality bypass anyway, but I curse them for coming up with this rotten tournament.

Anyone arrived yet? Reading on BigSoccer that airport is a shambles, metro extremely busy, difficult to check in as a staff don’t speak English. Be interesting to see how it’s going from those in the ground.

As the Tournament Head keeps stating ‘It’s a World Cup for Everyone’.
Let’s see how hollow that claim is in a couple of weeks.

First time I'd ever heard of Qatar was that friendly in 2000 so gone full circle, did anyone go to that? No idea if it was in Doha or somewhere else in the world.
Was around that exciting period when the Millenium was opened and played Brazil and gave them a good game for an hour.

Seems it was played in Doha, first British side to play there according to this: news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sport/football/654150.stmFor a friendly a very strong side put out so must've been a nice appearance fee for FAW. Rob Page also started so continues the symmetry to present day. Usual fuss back then of Giggs pulling out after being named in squad aswell!
