Has anyone heard an update on whether this will be staying in Armenia?

Taken from the "Travellers Worldwide" website....
"Armenia is reasonably safe for tourists, with minor violent crimes happening in the larger cities.
However, when you visit, you’ll still have to deal with petty theft and crimes of opportunity. There are also some political and social issues that you should know about before you go.
The best thing you can do is enrol with your embassy in case something happens globally. Armenia has consistent tension with its neighbour Azerbaijan, and it’s not all that far away from Ukraine.
Aside from the political unrest, it’s an excellent call to practise general safety precautions. Leave your valuables locked up in your hotel room or home, and don’t flash jewellery while you’re out and about".

Really can't accept the "petty theft and crimes of opportunity" thing - probably safer than Cardiff, IMHO. When I was in Eastern Turkey and Georgia, this Summer, I have met a few Armenian / Russian and Ukrainian backpackers - and indeed, there is some internal political turbulence, with occasional violent anti government protests. If you see people marching or protesting in the main squares - please use common sense and walk away!

anyone still looking at options for this trip, yesterday i booked Thurs 16th Bristol to Rome around midday with easyjet Fri 17th Rome to Yerevan 6:45 depart arrives 13:45 with wizz Mon 20th Yerevan to Bristol via Athens with Aegean all one ticket, note this one is an early start on the monday but back in bristol by 11am All in for around £200, although got to factor in a nights stay in Rome. Was also looking at Rome. Have you managed to find a hotel /bnb that is reasonably close to the airport, for such an early departure? I booked the hilton that is connected to the terminal so just a few minutes walk. Note I had a pile of hilton points so this was a redemption for me and therefore I was less price sensitive and more about convenience. As the bristol flight gets into FCO late afternoon it means can quickly check in and then back to the terminal to jump on the express train into the city with minimal messing about.

One thing to consider if the game is played in Armenia is having an Azerbaijani stamp in your passport from Baku visits.
They can be quite funny about things like that.

For Euro 2020 I had booked the ibis Roma Fiera which was a good combo of price/availability and location with transport links to the airport and the city centre. Can't tell you how good it might have been though, as I ended up watching from a fan park in London..

I don't think it so bad that way round. Going to Azerbaijan with a Armenian stamp in your passport, is not so good. I had a new passport in 2020 so the qualifier is gone but the one from 2021 is in it. Actually slightly diverging. I went to Cuba in August and apparently now need a full visa to go the states. But they didn't stamp the passport in and out of Cuba so can you chance your luck. We'll probably get one anyway but its a right pain in the arse.

From what I've heard this Summer from a few backpackers that have been, not a problem at all getting into Armenia with azeri stamps. The reverse was also ok, but the Azerbaijani immigration did question two of the people I met, and actually went through their mobile phones, in search of possible contacts in armenia etc.

I dont think having been to Azerbaijian for footballing reasons will have an impact on you getting into Armenia. The border guards will know why there are so many Welsh fans coming to Armenia. They may ask why you are coming to Armenia and why you went to Azerbaijian but once you have explained it was to watch Wales play I cant see that being problematic at all.

If I was a betting man would be one of Germany/Austria/Switzerland Why this fear mongering speculation? Yerevan is as safe as London, New York or Berlin. They also have their fair share of public demonstrations, although the beeb will probably not focus on those ... You would be hard pressed to find a more welcoming country, more friendly people and more tasty food. For all those that are going - you can expect a trip of a lifetime.

Not fear mongering it was a curious question, Nothing can be more like a battle zone was last Saturday night in center of Newcastle on stop over from Carlisle... unbelievable... should stayed Carlisle Back to Armenia, if I get ticket I'm there

Does anyone know when tickets are going on sale for this one? I think Latvia details were announced around 6 weeks before. So expecting this to be announced over the next week or so... hopefully. I've put money away to go, but want to see if I get a ticket first.

I think we all shouted “he’s behind you” at the wrong time ‘tho !

That will probably be enough for everyone travelling. According to the latest FSA meeting notes, there are 500 going with Wonky, I can’t see the same number travelling independently due to cost, awkward flights and the crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Well done the the FSA on getting 1100 tickets, everyone who wants one should get one.
Believe we were only entitled to 720 which would have made it tight in the lower stages.

Wonder if more fans have booked flights this week. Yerevan to Gatwick (via Rome) went up from £115 last Friday to £200+ today. Starting to regret not having booked them earlier.
