Did anyone get into the home end with tickets from that Russian website? I ended up with an away ticket in the end, but the boys who tried my home tickets were turned away at stadium. Four of us in plain clothes were refused entry on our first attempt. We gave it another bash at a different home gate and outfoxed security with one magic word: 'Scotland!'

Got the 2pm to Rome today. Wizz check in was a total breeze - they had 3 counters working and very few people. Just show passport and get boarding card. Like the olden days... Passport control took about 20 minutes and security was also a breeze. I'd say 2-hours is safe. Probably not less than that tho. Did anyone else get charged 30,000 AMD (£60) for checking in with Wizz at the airport? The mate I travelled with wasn't charged. Wondering whether there was something I should have done online before arriving at the airport, or did Wizz just shaft me? It's in the T£C of every airline - airport check in will always cost more. However, the Wizz website states clearly £36/€40 - so yes, unless your bags were oversized or something... you should certainly be challenging it

We were told we had to check in at the airport so absolutely no reason why they should be charging anything. I’ve luckily not been charged but would agree you should be challenging that

Thanks all for confirming my suspicions that the Wizz employee at the airport was just making things up. I'll have a crack at getting a refund.

Is it perhaps the case, as with our Aegean flight, that you still needed to check-in on line, but then collect boarding pass at the airport ?

Having said that budget airlines are always looking for a wheeze to make money. I’m flying back with wizz and got a feeling I read somewhere you still need to check in on line. Certainly worth a challenge / complaint though.

I think that's the distinction that's caught me out, unfortunately.

Everyone in Yerevan needed to check in - the issue was with the boarding card. There was no real reason to print the "confirmation" pdf - but people needed to check in. Can't understand where the £60 fee came from? Two people perhaps? Their site says £36...

Four of us in civvies, wearing Armenian scarves walked in separately through different turnstiles. All got in without a problem, no search so chargers were ok. Got 50 yards away from the turnstiles, when a plain clothed guy, obvs very important and busy came up to 2 of us and said, you aren’t going in I’m afraid. It was obvious he wanted to lob us out, nothing we could say was going to change his mind. My mate showed his Dubai ID and driving licence etc. Just at the point it would have got problematic, another plain clothed guy, obviously his senior, came over and barked (in English) stop f’king about with these guys and do your job. Smiled at us and waved us on. Plain sailing after that, other than a Scottish guy sitting next to us said, shit disguise lads :-)

We got through far easier than we'd expected. I got an Armenia flag on the road outside and neither of us were wearing colours. I spoke to loads of people in the north stand and nobody seemed bothered when were ordering beers in English.

It was funny seeing all the obvious Welsh with either, hats, scarves or flags, we stuck out a mile 😂

Their fans were great, made a lot more noise than I expected and were welcoming and appreciated us clapping their team after the game. Please repay us by getting a result in Croatia ladsp

Bit pished, apologies. Your lad certainly seemed to have enjoyed his first away trip, Hopefully he now joins the gang !
