anyone used holafly for eSim before this seems to quote 29eur for unlimited data for 5 days, i just wondered how reliable they are esim.holafly.com/esim-armenia/ |

I'm with Sky and the Samsung S22 doesn't support e-sim, but the phone does allow for 2 sim cards so you can switch between them.
I will buy a sim card when I arrive.
Has anyone already out there bought one and where from?

I just got a ticket through the website. The FAW released more tickets from those that were returned so you may wish to have a look now if you are ticketless. Very pleased to get the points this time round.

For those that still haven't set off yet - I highly recommend bringing good walking boots.
The pavements out here have not been touched since the 90s ... and it makes the ones in Chisinau feel like a pedestrian paradise :+( serious Ankle damage territory...
And just in case anyone had a foolish notion of renting a car - just DON'T...
And btw - the GG app works just fine for me - set it for cash payments. Same with Yandex GO. Only app that wants you to have a local SIM is the uTaxi.
I have noticed that BOLT are quoting 30-50% cheaper prices, but their waits are longer...

Is it the same as Gotaxi? If you download Yandex MAPS, that will offer the Yandex Go taxi availability. Yandex maps is FAAAR superior to Google in Yerevan anyway |

That said, it also has a a logo of Visa/Mastercard - but had a metal box for cash payments saying 300d - with no change given ... |

So whats the verdict on esims? Anyone out there using and can recommend one? I've been using knowroaming .their Europe one incl Armenian / turkey and a whole lot of other places. 1gb 1 month was £4. Works on team network over here - and was fine today out in Etchmiadzin Cathedral area as well. |

One tip about eSIM roaming.
Set it up BEFORE you leave the UK and make it your default data SIM while still in the UK. While doing that, turn OFF mobile data roaming.
When you get to Armenia - just turn data roaming back on.
I got stung out in Turkey for £50 for about 20 seconds of data while switching between two eSIM cards (Georgia and Turkey) as it reverted back to my HOME NETWORK for those 20 seconds :+(

One other tip. If you're planning to rely wifi in pubs, cafes, etc is to download offline maps for Yerevan. You can then access maps offline.
