That's the way Page will play it I suspect. I wouldn't object to that, but it seems optimal to me to have James and Moore on the pitch for as long as possible, given how well they combine. Having said that, if Finland park the bus we may need the more technical Brooks to unlock the Finland defence. I think we may adopt a high defensive line, as we did against Croatia, regardless of Finland's setup, because I don't think their forwards are particularly pacy. Might not be pacey, but Pukki's movement is one of the best around, and us playing a high defensive line would be an absolute dream for him Against Croatia the defensive line was about 15m from the halfway line, so not that high. That's what I had in mind. If they park the bus, which is a distinct possibility according to the Finnish fans, then we probably have a high line by default. |

So Page has gone with a Brooks, Wilson, Johnson trio up front. Bit surprised, but it does make some sense to start with the best quality trio. Then it makes sense to bring on Moore and James together.
Could we playing a 3-4-3 rather than a 3-4-2-1? Probably not, but something to look out for.

Finland start with Pohjanpalo and Pukki, which suggests a 4-4-2. This could lead to a more open encounter.

With Johnson up top it will take a different approach to breaking Finland down compared to Moore being the 9. Through balls will be tge order of the day, but if Finland sit deep that may be tricky.
It's unlikely, but could Page be opting for Wilson or Brooks as a false 9. Unlikely but not inconceivable, given that Johnson is better out wide.

A few of their players may be undercooked ad they play in Scandinavian leagues that haven't restarted (Hakans) or have just started (Tenho, Schuller in Sweden), or play in the MLS (Lod played 3 games, not more than 68 minutes, Peltola, Pukki), where they've only played some 5 games.

I think we're a bit lucky to be honest. We've played well but Finland have had so many chances and seem to be able to create something from nowhere. With only one goal in it this match will be torture. Hopefully we can get another early goal.

Cant ask for more than 3-1 in a playoff at home. Incredible strike by Neco, he’s a special player.
Like OTJ said, I dont like how Finland are getting so much possession, but we’re fortunate they’re not doing much with it.
We could really hammer them here, but ive probably jinxed us now!
