The very slimmest of silver linings is that we play France last, who should be qualified by then. Not much to cling to. Anyway, we need to get there first.

I mean, if we get there we get to rub shoulders with France and the Netherlands. If we don't get out of the group it is what it is, but at least we will have got there. We can really complain about being the bottom seeds when we couldn't qualify directly.
Don't mean to sound like one of those "remember where we've come from", but if we get there we've got a summer to enjoy again.

It's not out of the question that we'd qualify from that group. We're capable of a win against Austria (which could be enough to qualify) a point against NL isn't Impossible and France are well known for the odd tournament hiccup or two. I bet the Polish won't be feeling defeatist about the prospect?

It's not quite as bad as I first thought. 4 points will almost certainly be enough for qualification. A win vs Austria is doable, and a point against an already qualified France would be difficult but not impossible. I can't see us getting anything against the Dutch, although not losing by more than a goal could still help our cause. Even just 3 points could possibly be enough for qualification, although unlikely.
Anyway, this is a good problem to have. Right now we can't think beyond Finland, and see where that takes us.

This will be the first time we won't have that if we get there. We've been fortunate with finals draws thus far I guess. |

Great locations and stadiums. 3 teams bordering Germany who could have a fair few fans travelling in and out. May just leave a bit of accommodation left for ourselves. |

It seems that we used all our luck up in the Play-off draw.
IF we get there, we will have nothing to lose, nobody will be expecting us to get anything out of the Holland and France games. If the Croatia games show anything we are at our best against better opposition.
Although we are likely to well outnumbered in the stadiums. Holland is like 2 hours drive from Hamburg and France 3 1/2 hours from Dortmund. Oh, and the chance to play tournament football in the Olympic Stadium, Berlin.......

Hamburg and Berlin are truly blessed with loads of cheap accommodation. DORTMUND OFFICIAL DJH HOSTEL is only a 2km walk from the stadium and still has €90 beds.
PAY NOTHING AND SUPER FLEX CANCELLATION
THE A&O HOSTEL is near the Railway Station, about 3km walk from the stadium - considered less classy ... but certainly much cheaper at only €30-€55 beds.

Great group I think. Consistent qualification is our aim/target - the tournament itself itself is a bonus really, and a free shot at a fairytale. |
