Got Ryanair flights Stansted - Kosice returns @£75 including carry-on and priority nonsense. Couple of days in Kosice, which is supposed to be a brilliant place, train to Bratislava @ £19 return for a 4hr trip. 4 nights in Bratislava, then same again on home trip, with another stopover in Kosice. Ryanair still showing flights out to Kosice from Stansted @ £18 on the Friday and Saturday. No flights back from Kosice until later in the week, but may be a cheap option to get out there. Trains to Bratislava every 2 hours, which also stop at Trnava. Bloody hell mate, kosice is a fair trek from bratislava, you were better going to budapest, fair dos though, it will be a good trip for you 👍 Well done to you - looks like a real bargain - especially if you fancy Kosice. I have a ticket from BRS to Budapest, because I love that place - but the U17 have thrown that up in the air, and might need to find a flight from Larnaca now ...
For those of you that have time and can arrive Weds/Thursday, a cheap flight to Vienna is just as convenient as BTS. for a night or to in BTS. Otherwise, BTS airport is almost half-way between downtown and Trnava, so you may as well head to Trnava - which is CERTAINLY worth a full 24h - lovely place!

Just booked my flights up, Gatwick to Vienna direct return (7th-10th) £122, happy with that.
Probably staying in Bratislava the three nights, did consider Trnava the night before the game, but it'd mean three check in and outs (need to be in Bratislava after the game for flight earlier the next morning).

In reality no longer than my usual train journey to Cardiff for a match. Friends who have visited both destinations, reckoned Kosice was way better than Bratislava on every score. We’re not in any rush, so a leisurely train trip suits us fine. Apparently Slovakian trains on that run have a (very cheap) restaurant and bar on board. We’ll sit back, tuck in, crack another beer, marvel at the scenery and arrive in Bratislava in good time for evening frolics on the Friday.

Eddie, the joys of being newly retired, every day’s a holiday. No doubt we’ll catch up out there, somewhere noisy, beery and red ! Just need to get match tickets now.

Hoping that we get a few more than 1k this time, I'm trying my hardest to get up the stages, the stadium holds just over 18k so we should get a decent allocation.

I'd be surprised if we actually need more than 1k tickets, as its still school term time etc. Can't see there being more than 500. If this is set for a 2pm/3pm Sunday ko, it will be packed with kids and a party atmosphere...

I imagine if one spends the whole day at the Loch Ness or the Dubliner, they are hardly likely to meet lovely locals or drink nice local mineral water either ;-)

It’s good to get off the main drag. Find some quieter local pubs. Chat with the locals, the beer is half the price, and proper local food.

Quite a small city, found a few good pubs on different side streets, people there were nice. More than happy to be going back.
