It might seem interesting but Cullen, Harris and Sheehan are bargain basement players. You should dip in when you need to because it is quite clear they are miles off international standard. I do not like playing them all together, especially given there are some better players on the bench. I hope this works out but it seems a bit eccentric A bit harsh. All are Championship standard, but I agree this is a risk. The one other formation would be a 4-1-3-2 with Cullen and Harris up top with Wilson Johnson and James narrow out of possession. |

I know Bellamy likes to talk about shapes rather than formations, but out of possession we've consistently gone for a 4-4-2. Does anybody think we may deviate from that tonight?

Kit Symons just speculating that DJ may be a wing back tonight. Can't see it, but if Iceland play with the same width Turkey did, we could do with better cover from our wingers as we afforded them far too much space down the right flank in particular. |

Great post Mel. I agree with you totally, there are some really bad drivers with bad habits but my point is JB is always picking at people, I am 99% sure that he has bad habits, but he thinks he's perfect. I know I am a good driver as I drive emergency vehicles and I have been trained to keep high standards, i have seen some horrendous sights on roads so i have a good idea what i am talking about but I will NEVER say that I am a perfect driver. Akgun was Turkiye's top rated player, on the right wing. I don't think Iceland have a player of comparable calibre.

Pick too may weak players then look what you get
Zero physicality against a physical team ffs. Pick two midgets in central midfield instead of JJ
Then Harris - everything he wins he has limited control over. Then Sorba brings energy and we remove it
I am sorry but leave weak players out unless you need them

If Page was being tactically out thought like this everyone would be going mental. Bellamy has made some huge questionable pre game decisions all through this campaign. He looked like a genius after game 1 so for the 5 he's seemingly had a free pass.
We were outplayed away in Montenegro and Turkey. Good first half v Iceland then again we were completely embarrassed. This is shit.

Sheehan, Harris and Cullen look anonymous and like spare parts
and our top players are missing so far
The only good thing is we can't play any worse

We've done OK out of a few limited players but now we're seeing the players we have are quite limited. Can play some pretty passes but we're losing every individual battle.

To be fair this is how we'll find out about Bellamy. Big talk after the Turkey match that it'll be the worst we'll ever play. We've actually got worse nearly every game since then.
Same with Johnson. Lots of promise but no delivery. Big match for him.
This has a 2004 friendly vibe to it.

First 10 mins we were still in the changing room very unlike a Bellamy team. Danny Ward would not have conceded that goal if he’s playing week in week out.

If Bellamy actually wants to win the game then he simply has to revert to the back 4 of the Turkiye game. Davies and Neco have been all at sea.
God knows how we're ahead. Let's make the most of the opportunity we've been gifted.

Fair play to Cullen. What a weird performance this is though.
Ward makes an amazing save and then immediately let's one through his legs.
Johnson delivers a brilliant cross for the goal, misses a one on one.
I think the lads have been reading this, every shot in the middle of the goal. I bet our on target has sky rocketed, all down the keepers throat.

Promoted as it stands. Not the best of halves from us but we grew into it more. I think not having a left footed CB is hurting our ability to get DJ involved. I'd like to see Davies move back to CB and either RND/Dasilva at LB
Cullen & Harris were both very quiet but brightened up towards the end of the half, so Bellamy will likely keep the same forward line on. Would like to see Brooks quality at some point
