I have to admit, despite having close to zero interest in TNS as a club, that I'm pretty excited by all this. It's a plain, simple, no ifs and buts example that the Welsh system can get you into Europe, and into millions of pounds. It's not hypothetical any more - it's happened. Let's hope it attracts investment to other clubs. It can't go unnoticed by the other Welsh clubs in the English system - perhaps it could even open up discussion with UEFA about having a representative side from those clubs (U21 or reserves). Obviously those clubs could not be allowed to qualify for Europe through both the Welsh and English system, so perhaps without that carrot there'd be no incentive. And there's probably numerous other obstacles (they might simply not be allowed to register players to play in two different systems), but let's hope that these things are now entering the minds of more people. It is potentially a massive milestone in the development of the Welsh system. Personally not for adding U21 sides to the league, the best thing for the Cymru Premier is minimising the university teams and teams from towns with tiny populations. Might seem harsh but in order to get attendances up we need clubs from big towns doing well and building support. U21 teams go against that. What would be good, in terms of involving the English system teams more is for them to see the league as a viable pathway for loaning young talented players - no reason why Cardiff, Swansea & Wrexham shouldn't be sending plenty of their young talent to play adult football and have a taste of European football like Ben Cabango did In an ideal world we would see the likes of Merthyr, Llanelli, Bangor, Carmarthen, Cwmbran, Bangor, Colwyn Bay & Llandudno all pushing to be top flight clubs, basically any town with a population of 10,000 and above can garner a decent following. And then the likes of Cardiff Met, Bala, Connah's Quay being less successful as a result wouldn't be the worst thing. For what it's worth I feel bad for lumping Bala in there - it's amazing that they do so well but a town of only 2000 people is just limited in what it can offer the top flight moving forwards

Merthyr will never join the Cymru Premier. Shame but given they have had a team in the EFL in the past understandable. But surely a town the size of Llanelli could do well with the right financial backing.

But surely a town the size of Llanelli could do well with the right financial backing. I wouldn't say never. There's no chance of it happening at the moment, however, if we continue to build up the Cymru Premier's attendances, quality and get regular qualifiers for Europe - maybe another club getting in one day - then at a certain point a move over becomes far more attractive than the 7th tier in England and playing small towns

Just heard on the radio that a TNS player has been signed by a team from the Saudi pro league, seems the Saudis are paying more attention than our EFL clubs 😁

Cymru Leagues Day tomorrow. If you're at a loose end get out and enjoy the warm weather while it's still here. Plenty of games all down the pyramid and sure they'd welcome the support

Great to see Love that, with TNS having a big distraction in their European campaign we just have to hope Penybont keep this form up - it might end up in a title race! Would be great for the league to see Penybont challenge for the title

Penybont started the season really well lets hope it continues, this should fill them with confidence now

Whisper it quietly but tonight could be a big night of fixtures in the Cymru Premier.
TNS rarely drop points back-to-back but playing Bala who are no mugs - admittedly early season form suggests they're mid table this year.
Penybont playing Britton Ferry who have surviving as main aim.
Both games currently draws.

Bala did their bit tonight but Penybont couldn't take advantage and Briton Ferry picked up three vital points.
Cardiff Met won so now joint top.
Two teams eight points ahead of TNS with TNS having three games in hand. Something to keep an eye on.

I like the sound of most of it. One question mark is that this is based on three teams outside the top league being able to meet the criteria to become a top league side each year. Usually I would be very hesitant to get on board with more and more football - I think we are already at the tipping point globally - but not sure we are at same place here in Wales. Increasing the number of games that matter (though potentially not the quality of all games) and pushing for increased attendances sounds good.

Sounds like we will not know how the league will move to 16 for a while yet. Will there be no relegation in season 25-26 and two up from Cymru south and north? Sounds the obvious solution but I suspect there are conversations with Merthyr to bring them onboard also. Colwyn Bay had to join Cymru north rather than straight into premier so would have thought that would need to apply for Merthyr. Perhaps they will join Cymru south for next season ready for a promotion push. Interesting times together with today’s news about getting the EFL clubs into Europe via League Cup. Surprised it is not via Welsh Cup however which already has a European place for the winners. League cup European place would need to come from Cymru premier instead I guess which could detract from League itself? As I say interesting news.

Cards on the table, I’m strongly of the belief that its a bit embarrassing that as a nation of 3m people that we have clubs playing in another country’s league. We’e not Liechtenstein and I feel that the argument that we couldn’t sustain a 10-12 team professional top-flight (if everything were equal) to be rather pathetic.
So clearly I think all Welsh clubs should be in Welsh competition. End of.
As a result I’m torn because I know how great it would be for any domestic side to face those teams on a regular basis, both from an attendance and financial point of view. The Welsh pyramid can feel a little 'closed off' at times and there are no 'giants' to face unless you make it to Europe.
It would probably result in a decent sponsor and TV income, meaning the loss of one club’s Euro income would be mitigated by the across the board benefits.
The only thing that sticks in my craw is they would be literally having their cake and eating it, picking off the parts of the Welsh system that suits them.
But swallowing my pride, the additional income would probably felt by more clubs and would go further across the board than just handing 250k Euro a year to clubs that are going nowhere like Connah’s Quay or Bala wasting a European spot.
Given that Newtown and Haverfordwest’s Chairmen, having received a presentation on the idea last week, seem so enthused on Twitter today suggests to me there’s major financial/commercial/media implications being talked about here.

Patently its bollocks.

Surely you can't really believe what you are advocating with a logical mind I think playing in the EFL is light years away from the Welsh league for a start, financially for a start, can't even begin to compare ,and unfortunately finance is key, football lives in a netherworld as it is,if Cardiff and Swansea were shops on the high street they'd probably be out of business, like lits of other clubs, except maybe Barcelona who can be millions in arrears and still spend millions, come into the real world
