I tentatively suggested a while back that he might come back into contention - to much derision. Right now he's just about the only Welsh striker getting regular game time (if you discount HRK). Saw this comment on a Leeds forum today: "Morison ain't scoring but contributes well in games". Hardly a glowing recommendation - but right now we're pretty desperate on the striker front. Could well merit a place in the squad. He was a good player back in the day when he was scoring. Never seemed to happen for him in a Welsh shirt though. I am wondering what is going on with Vokes? Even taking the injury into account it seems strange that he is being used so sparingly. Hes not going to be in any sort of shape to play against Israel at this rate. In that sense perhaps it is an opportunity for Morison. I would rather Morison than Church thats for sure! Has Morison been involved with Wales under Coleman?

Last capped in the 2-0 defeat away in Croatia.

Against Montenegro, Switzerland, Bulgaria and Norway in 2011 thought they had been his best games for us. Like the Leeds supporters that Alarch quoted said, he never scored, but he contributed. Thinking of the pass to Bale that put him in for the second goal against Switzerland in the Liberty and again, the outstanding pass for Bale that Bale volleyed in against Norway.

That's what I had been wondering! Aware that he had to be given time to "eased back in" with the horrible injury he had - still come on, it's mid February and like you said, he's being used sparingly - not even in the replacements last Wednesday against United. Is Dyche waiting for the dead rubber games when Burnley are relegated before the Championship with Ings to put Vokes back in the side?

I literally kicked every ball during that 90 minutes. [ Quite an achievement.

Bryn Law tweeted this earlier:
Didn't see much of the Leeds game but reading a lot of positive stuff about Steve Morison. Good bloke who's had a tough time @fawales return?
-------
Leeds on a great run and (even though he's not scoring) Morison has been a big part of that with some wholehearted performances. He's surely done enough to get a recall to the squad for the Israel game.

Before I went to the Swans - United game today, caught the early part of the Leeds game and Morison looked lively again.

I think he deserves a call. He's an alternative to Vokes. I would calm up Morrisons, Vokes and Tom Bradshaw if he is fit. We don't have many other options.

The real question here is who should start then out of morison and vokes?
Most would say Vokes, but he doesnt seem to be in burnleys plans at the moment and on current evidence will have played little by the end of march. Is it better to play someone of lesser quality but with more match sharpness?
I must say I am concerned about playing a keeper who hasnt played any recent games of note in a such a big game. Why he hasnt engineeered a loan move is beyond me Our keeper situation always seems to be shocking.

I think its becoming more apparent that the 'solution' to the striker issue does not lie with Vokes or indeed Morison (it is good to see him having a non scoring contribution at Leeds)or anyone else but lies with the existing option of Kanu who is scoring and does a good enough job of it. Rather Kanu to any other of the striking options.

Morrison should be in the squad. And if Vokes doesn't get much game time between now and Israel, Morrison should probably start. He's playing as a lone front man for Leeds, which is what we need. I've always liked the idea of HRK up front, but can't see Cookie going that way.

So many question marks ahead of Israel.
If the game was tomorrow with all players fit I think Coleman would go with Church & Bale in a 5-3-2. Then Vokes & Bale in a 5-3-2. I don't think Morison is anywhere near the first XI.
I'd go Vokes up front alone with Bale just behind.

This is a big test for Coleman, if I find that I am paying all this money and going all that way just to watch Church up front I will go apeshit. Playing him just would not make any sense whatsoever. Justifiable (just!) when Vokes was out, but Morison and Vokes have to both be ahead of him in the pecking order now. I would rather see Bradshaw start. I don't think Coleman is that daft to persist with Church after his recent totally ineffectual performances for us and his lack of goals at club level.

Soccerbase says that he is appearing every other week or so at the moment, so hes either picking up knocks regularly or he can't nail down a place and is being brought in as cover occasionally. One goal all season in something like 14+ appearances - the reality is he simply isn't up to Championship level at the moment. He needs to drop down to league one or even league two and get his shit together.

Extraordinary comment about a fellow professional, especially about one who is already a fans favourite!

Predictable comment from a shithouse striker who never offered anything. Has Steve even played once under Coleman?

He played in our 2-1 win at home against Scotland. I remember he missed a decent chance from a Bale cross in the first half. His best performance for us was probably the win against Switzerland under Speedo?

Hilarious! a) What a stupid cunt or b) He is clearly one of the bad eggs Coleman had to remove to get the togetherness and spirit bang on. c) Both of the above.

Leeds fans hated him, notice he's back at Millwall now. Never a championship player.

Steve ‘he used to be shite but now he’s alright’ Morison has been confirmed as Cardiff manager for the rest of the season. Who knows, it could be the start of a decent career in management.
