I can see either Taylor or Davies leaving Swansea in the summer, but doubt if either will leave in the transfer window.

Meulensteen said he thought Taylor's bad injury came at a time when he was just starting to perform at a very high level - he said when was at MU he always thought Taylor had 'top 4 qualities'.
Personally, I think he is more composed and assured than Ben Davies and should be our starting left back.

My view is that Taylor would be a big loss for Swansea. As a Swans fan I do not want it to happen. The Ben Davies story has made many forget what a good player Neil Taylor is. I prefer Ben Davies as an attacking player but think that Taylor is better footballer and defender.
From a Welsh perspective, Taylor leaving would not be that much of a negative.
Met him at the London Welsh Centre in 2012. A real gentleman.

Yes, he's very impressive every time he talks - he has an assurance about him - which few of the Welsh players have. That's one vital ingredient for a successful manager for sure, but obviously not enough by itself.
For now he needs to concentrate on his performances. He wasn't at his best last night - but wasn't given much protection by either HRK or John.

An excellent thread. Along with Sam Ricketts, the most articulate of players. I think both will make a go of it as managers.
And, both have experienced the best in John Toshack.

As soon as he finishes his playing career Taylor could well be given the opportunity to manage the India national team. He's becoming a big star out there (his mother's homeland)
I expect us to gain a bit of support from India should we finally qualify whilst Taylor is a player too.

I for one just hope he can get regular game time for Swansea or some one else next season.

If Swansea get a replacement in, it certainly could happen at the right price

Anything north of £5m would be tidy.

Why would you dispose of a top quality leftback to a direct rival?
Nonsensical and right to tell palace he's going nowhere.

I'd value him at about 6-7million. That's not to say I think he's great, but 3million is a joke.

If they do sell him Wrexham will have a cut of the transfer money.

Hearing tonight that Palace are considering a second bid and West Brom are interested too. Taylor's in his last eighteen months of his contract so would not be stunned if Jamie Moralee is behind this knowing history with Taylor and Ashley Williams. Shall be intriguing how to see how this plays out.

Swans bid of 5 million accepted for Kyle Naughton. I've seen enough of both Naughton and Taylor to confidently say that I think Taylor is the better player. So if Palace and WBA are serious about getting him, they should bid at least 5 mill..
..and the half a mill (10%) compo that Wrecsam will receive will be most welcome. Not sure I trust Wilkin to spend it though.

Naughton is mainly a right back, and is being brought in to challenge Rangel, although he can play on the left as well. I don't expect to see Taylor leave as a result of Naughton's arrival. If Olsson arrives that's another matter - but even then Monk has talked all along about strengthening the squad not replacing existing squad members. The fact that Taylor only has 18 months left on his contract is the main reason why he might leave.

I would be surprised if Neil Taylor were not up for this? Having lost Ben Davies, I would be gutted to lose Neil Taylor also. Unapologetically, I would like to see a handful of Welsh players in any Swansea side.

I think Taylor will want assurances that he's No 1 before signing a new contract. If Swansea are willing to spend upwards of £4 million on Olsson then there would have to be a question mark over who would take precedence in the pecking order. Monk uses full backs differently to Laudrup or Rodgers. The full backs are now much more conservative, and you don't see the same amount of link play between winger and full back as in the past. Full backs are now there to defend first and foremost and wingers are expected to go it alone much more. Which on the whole hasn't been a problem for Swansea, with the defence being tighter and Montero at least able to go it alone. So, it may be that Taylor (and Rangel for that matter) doesn't fit as well as he used to. Pre-injury he offered quite a bit going forward - but that aspect is far less apparent nowadays. I agree it would be a shame if Swansea lose another Welshman, but it's possible that it might be best for Taylor and Wales in the long run.
Incidentally, seasoned observers of the age group teams at Swansea are impressed with the players coming through - most of whom are Welsh. It may take a few more years, but I'm excited about the contribution that Swansea can make to the Welsh cause in the future.

My guess is if Taylor leaves it is purely for financial reasons (which is fair enough)
However, at his age he should be looking at an upward move or to stay where he is rather than a downward move to a club that could still be relegated.
Personally, I don't rate Taylor highly and maybe Monk feels that Olsson is a better bet and maybe a new contract won't be forthcoming from Swansea.
If this is the case then it is in the best interests of both teams that they move on.
Would mean Cardiff and Swansea have one welsg regular between them (PERSONALLY FIND THIS A BIT SAD)

Monk may be looking for a full back but Taylors place in the Swansea side has never been in doubt.
The right back position on the other hand has seen Rangel, Richards and Bartley all play there in the past few weeks/months. So it would suggest that a new full back is looking to cover the right back position... Unless Taylor has himself decided to leave. Would like to see him at Swansea though!

Won't Naugton and Rangel be the 2 competing for the right back slot, with Tiendelli and Richards behind them.
If Monk signs Olsson him and Taylor will compete for the left back slot if Taylor stays

Hope Taylor cones t palace were a bigger club. We can then be known as palas grisial.
