Was everybody ok today do we know?
Chester went off for tactical reasons. Ledley was also not in the Palace 18 today.
I don't think Williams nor Taylor trained with Swansea this week (was watching a training video posted by the club earlier in the week... couldn't see them on there along with Shelvey and Siggurdsson) probably told they could have time off.

On the face of it, touch wood and all that, no injuries today. Important game time for Allen (not much of a confidence boost mind...). There was a Roberts on the bench for West Brom - presumably Tyler? If so, it's a good sign, even if he didn't make it off the bench.

Noticed Dembele came off injured. Not a huge loss for Belgium if he can't make our game, but a useful squad player for them nevertheless.

Swansea well beaten today, jazz was given a torrid time by zaha. Wayne did not have anything t do.

I thought Jazz did alright defensively - but was his usual uncertain self going forward. Swansea certainly missed Williams for the Palace goal - shocking defending from Bartley.

On the BBC Sport feed it says this:
"Strange to see a Swansea defence without captain Ashley Williams, who is denied an ever-present record this season by missing out through injury."
Cue panic.

Its a pity that a welsh club, gave an opportunity t two young foreigners as subs instead of young welsh players today. Did not see any union jacks on display today, but some Swansea clowns decided to cause trouble against two women stewards.

Taylor has really become our not-so-secret weapon. What started off as a bit of a joke - his goal against Russia, is starting to wear a bit thin, for the opposition anyway.
The space on the left that Bale exploited so devastatingly for the own goal against NI was created by Taylor taking up a central striker's position. Then against Belgium Taylor timed his run perfectly into the box for that chance that Courtois only just managed to save. And finally, Taylor was available for a pass from HRK when the cross came into the box from Ramsey for HRKs goal. Brilliantly though HRK did, his cause was undoubtedly helped by the Belgian defenders being preoccupied by a potential lay-off to Taylor.
I take my hat off (well I would had I managed to get hold of one of those Spirit of '58 bucket hats) to Coleman and co. - such a smart move, especially considering it's such a low risk from a defensive point of view, given that the other defenders can form an orthodox, club-familiar back 4 when Taylor goes foraging.
A bit tangential, but all credit to Gunter for his cross for the Vokes goal. I mean an assist for Chrissie ####ing Gunter! Talk about playing the "long game". But all credit to him, he's been our "steady Eddie" throughout qualification and the tournament. It will be interesting to see if he moves inside to the right side of the centre back positions for the semi.

Surprised to see this is the only Taylor thread....
Anyway not even on the bench on the weekend. What do we all make of that? We all know he's good enough to be starting week in week out and Swansea. Even if he doesn't play until the next squad announcement obviously he gets called up because ya know we call up Church all the time.

Taylor dropped and spurs shuffled their team about so Davies didn't have to play.. moving a CB to LB and a CM to CB. I know both Vertonghen & Dier are adept to playing in those positions but still it does say something.

Interesting article that mentions the wing backs and their foray into the attacking third. Gunter's run is deemed critical in the first goal. thesefootballtimes.co/2016/09/08/the-big-analysis-wales-vs-moldova/If the WBs have been given licence to do this from time to time then it does indicate a certain tactical maturity with this 3-4-2-1 formation.

Personally don't rate Taylor that highy but he has done a decent job for us.
However, I think he has been harshly treated by the Swans and effectively has been dropped for doing well at the Euros. What makes it worse is he's been dropped for a youngster and not someone they have spent a lot of money on

I know both Vertonghen & Dier are adept to playing in those positions but still it does say something. Yet he played in the Champions league game. So it is either that Spuds don't give a toss about the CL, or that Davies MUST NOT under any circumstances play a league game. The whole situation is bizarre given how well he played in the Euros. Would have thought he would get more games off the back of that, or more likely a club came in for him seeing as even prior to the summer he was little more than a Europa league player for the Spuds.

I heard he didn't do too well in that game which led to the switch around of the team so he didn't play against Sunderland. Most of our players will never play as well for their club teams when we're successful. We're as much of a team as a team could get, yes we see moments of individual brilliance like the Slovakia clear off the line from Davies, but our individuals just aren't as good as some may think. I think the start of the season has proven that more than ever.

"Decent job" is doing him a disservice. The lad had a superb euro's. Why would Swansea drop him for doing well at the euro's ? A lot of swan fans seem to think the Scottish lad who's replaced him is better. They're in a far better position than us to judge. The left back for Wales is without doubt his position to lose and I don't see that happening in the foreseeable. At the turn of this year I thought both full back / wing back positions were our weakest areas, but him and Gunter excelled in France. They're going be tested defensively in 2 of the 3 next games.

Only he can get himself back into the team and moaning about being subbed off is a terrible way to start. Koeman challenged Barkley to get himself back into the England team, he started the season poorly so he was subbed off early and then dropped he was then publically criticised by his manager. Against Boro on Saturday Barkley was class, i'd like to see Taylor react in the same way next time he gets a chance in a Swans shirts.

Take no notice of Walesonline or any Cardiff based media where Swans are concerned. They haven't got a clue.
Taylor has done well but he was asecond to Ben Davies and is bow second v Kngsley.
It was tough on him v Chelsea as he was played out of position in a tactical plan which didn't come off. That's why he was subbed. Everyone in the ground could see a change was needed. Taylor wasn't performing the job required of him.
It was frustrating for him, but Guidolin was right to make the change, and Taylor did himself no favours with his reaction. After today v Man City with Naughton he has fallen further down the pecking order unfortunately.
