On James/Danny Collins. James is a much, much better player than Danny. I've been disappointed and suprised by the number of sloppy mistakes James has made for Wales though. Costly ones too- letting Vucinic go past him was poor from a player of his quality. He had an excellent season last time for Villa- I think they had the second best defensive record in the prem as well reaching FA cup semi and carling final. I hope Flynn can get him to bring his Villa form to Wales.

im hoping flyn calls giggs back up because giggs has stated he would play to help out our injury problems, say what you want about giggs but we cant afford to be missing a player of his quality whatever your view his on his loyalty to us. I also believe the fact we have england twice is another reason why giggs wants back in the international fold. Giggs doesn't want back in the international fold. The entire story was based on a thowaway comment by Giggs that he would possibly consider a request to return if injuries got too bad. However, Paul Abbandonato and the Western Mail blew that totally out of proportion, leading to Sir Alex Ferguson coming out and saying Giggs would not be playing for Wales. It won't happen.

I cant believe he only gets two games to prove himself. The way they were banging on about Giggs you would think he was the U21's manager and not a half arsed player who only used Wales when it suited him. The FAW need to show the guy some respect because he is by far the most deserving and qualified for the job fulltime.

I'm pleased Brian Flynn has been given these two games. I don't think it's a slap in the face for him.
This will allow the Welsh FA to advertise, and interview all potential Managers deemed suitable, including Brian, but the FA should keep an open mind and (hopefully) appoint the best candidate.
I would not be disappointed to see BF get the job, indeed would be quite pleased, - of the other possible candidates mentioned the one that would inspire me would be Martin O'Neil, (but I doubt the WFA could afford his wages), no way should it be Sven.
But if the WFA do the selection and interview process fairly and openly, I can't criticise them for this two game appointment.
Good luck Brian, I hope you do well, but the Welsh FA have to see who is available/interested and take a fully considered decision for the longer term.

Good to hear so much positivity already from Flynnie- bit of a contrast from that last bloke...
Good point he comes across very positive & enthusiastic in the radio interview, and another plus is that we have finally got rid of that dean saunders/roy evans who should also take some responsibility for the poor results in the toshack reign

what flynn has done in wrexham and swansea and the under 21 s is brilliant. Hmmm, never at a level higher than League 1. Swans fans weren't particularly bothered when he left. Nor Wrexham for that matter. The revisionism that surrounds his club management career is odd. It's a fair point to make about Flynn's club career; most of us probably would have said no to him a few years back on precisely the grounds that he never managed higher than the now League 1 and had an apparently mediocre career at that level. However when you take into account Wrexham's recent history in particular, plus the job Flynn has done with the under-21s, it is probably also fair to say that the 'revisionism' is to some extent justified.

I'm pleased to see that Brian Flynn is already appealing direct to the fans. He says he wants a full house for the Bulgaria match. Terry Yorath and Mark Hughes used to encourage supporters for a big turnout, good to see Flynn doing the same.

I heard his radio interview, it's on the BBC Wales website, Flynn is positively brimming with pride at getting two games. I can't wait for the two games .

No date given yet. However, I think we'll see King start now Flynny is in charge and also Robson Kanu will be in the sqaud maybe with Neil Taylor. Not usre who will miss out form Tosh sqaud selection. Possibly Crofts and maybe Stock for Allen and Mcdonald..

this would be my personal choice of starting 11 if it was possible
Hennessey
D Collins J Collins Williams Ricketts
Savage Ledley Giggs Bale
Bellamy Morison

My guess is the squad will look something like this:
GK- Hennessey, Myhill, Brown
D- Gunter, Ricketts, Eardley, J Collins, Williams, Morgan, Gabbidon, N Taylor, Blake or Ribeiro (maybe both, depends who is fit and playing at the time. I think Nyatanga is injured, but if he's back for Bristol City he'll be in the squad too)
M- Bale, Ledley, King, Allen, Edwards, Vaughan, Cotterill, Macdonald
F- Bellamy, Church, Morison, Evans, Robson-Kanu (think Vokes and Earnshaw will both be missing through injury)
I would think Giggs, Davies and D Collins would be in the squad if any of them decide to give Flynn a call. Will they? I doubt it.
It's a concern none of our goalkeepers are actually playing at the moment, but it's not like there are any other options really. The likes of Stock, Crofts and Dorman might find it harder to get in Flynns squads than Toshacks.

McDonald? Please.
He's a player who's trajectory is on the way down at the mo. Loaned out at a struggling league 1 team. Captain of U21s he may have been, but if you're not playing championship it's simply not good enough. You'd stick with Crofts or Stock over him, surely.

Mcdonald is Flynns most capped player since beng in charge and to be fair hasnt really had a fair run for Swansea yet. He has 100% commitment and you can see he's passionate for the cause, I think Flynn will wont players like this in the squad.

Macdonald is the most capped player in our u21 history and has played a big part in the success of the team over the past 3 years. He's too old for the U21s now so it might be that Flynn will want to give him encouragement- make it clear that he expects him to be in contention to continue his international career. He's got loads of talent- bags of skill for such a big bloke, but has lacked the consistancy to make a real impact at Swansea so far. I thought he was the best player on the pitch in the first half vs Italy u21 recently and that was up against a bunch of Serie A players. The way he faded in the 2nd half is perhaps typical of the way he's been unable to really kick on in his career so far...
But like I said, that squad is just a guess.

MacDonald would run through a wall to play for Wales at any level. Some people won't even pick up the phone to do so

I think the general committment of the 21s players is more instilled because of the manager. Flynn walks around with a smile on his face, is positive in interviews and conferences, doesnt fall out with players , talks up his teams ability and goes into games without a set of excuses to present before the game kicks off. Players want to play for him and you can see that in goal celebrations and team spirit. He generally sticks to the same tactics and doesnt slag off players when they dont get results but instead just comes out fighting like against Hungary in he back drop of a poor draw with Malta.

All very positive but let's not turn against Flynn if he doesn't immediately get results. At the moment this place is a bit like England fans before the World Cup; high levels of expectation and multiple games in a short space of time. I hope Flynn helps us win the next two games, but he should still get a proper crack at it, at least the rest of this campaign, even if he doesn't.
