Gwion Edwards seems to have fallen away at Swansea this season after regularly being on the bench at the end of last season. He could be doing exactly the same as he was then, but a different manager doesn't rate him. It isn't necessarily a reflection on Edwards

Ben is continuing to develop nicely. Got his first assist last night in Swansea's superb performance. What impresses me most about Ben is his consistency. When he first came into the side he was very composed on the ball, but was prone to the odd rush of blood to the head, which was also evident in his games for Wales. That has virtually gone, and he's now putting solid performances week in week out.
Defensively he is very sound, and is no respecter of reputations, as the likes of Balotelli will testify. Offensively, he tends to play conservatively - which is appropriate for his stage of development. But he is bombing forward on the overlap on an increasingly frequent basis - as we saw for his assist for Swansea's third. On previous occasions the ball into the box has lacked quality - so it was good to see him deliver last night. His confidence must be sky high right now.
When Taylor returns I can see Davies playing left back, with Taylor on the right, for Wales, and perhaps also for Swansea.

Wednesday's match I believe was his best match of the season. Mind you, despite the odd rush of blood to the head, how good was he when he replaced Taylor in the Sunderland match in August? A lot of younger players would have panicked and lost composure - considering that otherwise he'd only played competitively in the League Cup against Barnsley - but Davies? No, and to make his day even better he had Adam Johnson in his pocket. Tougher examinations await him all before Christmas with Arsenal, Tottenham and Manure all to come but it'll only make him better in the long term.

Another excellent game for Ben - he doesn't look out of place at all. His composure is really astonishing for one so inexperienced. He has a very bright future for sure.
Watched the second half of Ross County vs ICT - and was disappointed with OTJ. Having championed his cause in the past, he was so pedestrian it was untrue. With his height he's never going to have a turn of pace, but he just strolled around throughout. Good distribution, and excellent shot to bring the corner that resulted in the late equalizer for ICT - but not enough for me. He should convert to centre half before its too late. Comparing him to Allen or Britton in the holding role - there's no comparison.

Down the track if Taylor returns could Ben Davies play centre back for wales alongside Ash. He looks strong enough is developing into a better reader of the game, is comfortable on the ball is strong in the air and tackling. all thats missing at the moment is decison making which comes with experience. Back four of matthews ash davies taylor?

( although I hope he stays out of the pub and is a better driver...)

Apparently Ben made the Telegraph Team of the Week. Not surprising - didn't give in-form Walcott a sniff.

Was poor for Bassongs goal against Norwich mind. Only to be expected at his age. When the team structure has been broken up he gets lost very quickly. Still plenty of time for him to learn. I just hope he does.

For all the progress Davies is making, what's happened to Jazz Richards?

I just hope he does. Yep, but a bad shift for him was always set to come around and last Saturday he was very bad, but last night he recovered and was very good against a good Middlesbrough side.

For all the progress Davies is making, what's happened to Jazz Richards? Last played in October against Liverpool away. Was not selected last night against Middlesbrough, Dwight Tiendalli was selected ahead of Rangel.

Ben was by far the best player in a Swans shirt last night, until Ki's late cameo. Unlike his more illustrious colleagues, he passed fluently, defended solidly, and broke forwards on occasions. I also didn't think he had that bad a game against Norwich. The Bassong goal was mainly Tremmel's fault, allowing himself to be beaten at the near post from a tight angle. Ben also got another assist. Williams on the other hand was culpable for the first goal.
As for Ashley Richards - he needs some time on loan. I can't see him getting a look in, short of a big injury crisis.

For all the progress Davies is making, what's happened to Jazz Richards? I wrote last year that he has some way to go and looks more of a championship player than a premier league player. Then again there's been plenty of championship players who have been capped. Perhaps needs to go on loan in january

MOTM today in my opinion. Rock solid defensively, and increasingly confident going forward. Not a flair player - but the sort you can rely on. He will be a fixture in the Welsh side for years to come.
