I doubt it. He's just 6 foot - which is Ok for a centre back - but not if playing alongside Williams. With Taylor back I can see Taylor playing right back (did well there for cough cough Team GB), and Davies left back. Davies might also be able to do a job as defensive mid - he reads the game remarkably well for one so inexperienced. He was the most switched on player for Swansea today, no question.

Sounds very grounded...hopefully for you guys he can remain on that track rather than be influenced by agents and money...

He's from the Swansea valley. There are plenty of people without jobs let alone cars. He appears to know this

Watched most of Swansea vs Everton today and Davies was excellent once again in a very tricky game. 'Assured' seems an apt description. Williams also superb. Thats clean sheets away at Arsenal, Chelsea and Everton with those two Welsh players in the back 4 each time. I hope to see some of this defensive resiliance in our upcoming games, If we can start keeping some clean sheets (when was our last one? Bulgaria away?), and with Bale in the side, we've got a chance.

If we can start keeping some clean sheets (when was our last one? Bulgaria away?), Yeah it was, had two consecutive clean sheets from the two qualifiers in that October against Switzerland then the last 1 was against Bulgaria.

as long as collins is not playing a clean sheet is theoretically possible.

as long as collins is not playing a clean sheet is theoretically possible. Anyone know how tall Ben Davies really is? Swans website and wiki says 5'7" but he looks much taller than that.. I reckon this lad could be a success at centre back eventually.

He is significantly taller than 5-7, he must be. I'd say he looks 6ft.

Great goal, it's been coming to be honest. But his allround performance was terrific, apart from one stupid cross-field pass in the last few minutes. His composure is the thing that impresses the most - he looks like a seasoned pro, not a 19 year old in his first season of professional football. Assuming he stays clear of injury (I had to add that caveat) he will feature for Wales for years to come, with Taylor to play on the right.

What a performance and what a goal! Ben Davies' vision, touches and composure is brilliant, Neil Taylor is going to struggle to get back into the side. Would love to see Jazz Richards turn into CB (think he'd be great there) and we could have a Welsh back 4 all playing for the same club. Plus we have other good Full-Backs like Matthews, Eardley, Henley, Gunter. Matthews and Taylor could possibly play on the wing in midfield. (Blabbering on off the thread now...)
Possible team in a few years maybe:
-----------Hennessey------------ Taylor Richards Williams Davies ----------Allen--Collison--------- Matthews---Ramsey----Joniesta --------------G.Bale--------------

With Taylor back I can see Taylor playing right back (did well there for cough cough Team GB), I hate to admit it, but he was. What was brilliant with Taylor was how he adjusted to it and it was that natural it was like he'd played there all his life and tbh currently, if he was fit I'd even put Taylor ahead of Gunter etc. But on the other, cautious side, lets wait until he returns and pray that the lay off has not hampered him that much.

He comes across so well. Possibly a future captain, yes, but will need to get a bit more vocal. But he's only 19 so plenty of time

Down the track if Taylor returns could Ben Davies play centre back for wales alongside Ash. He looks strong enough is developing into a better reader of the game, is comfortable on the ball is strong in the air and tackling. all thats missing at the moment is decison making which comes with experience. Back four of matthews ash davies taylor? www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/swansea-citys-ben-davies-tipped-2585174Laudrup thinks so.

Interesting prospect. Ashley Williams seems certain to be sold, Laudrup is making it clear he's happy for him to move on. I wouldn't bet against Davies playing half his games next season at CB.

Indeed, but more importantly i can now claim to be the first on here to pick Joe allen , bale on the right and now Ben at centre half. I have of course been through my posts and deleted all the predictions i got wrong which gives me a 100% record in the mystic meg stakes. I assume everyone else is on 100% too.
However, i think this issue is one of the big ones for wales alongside Who will be the manager, how long can bellamy keep fit , will Bale continue to give is all for wales unlike Giggs. So where is the next centre back pairing coming from. I don't see Ben playing at CB too often next year for swansea but it would be good to see him play for wales in a friendly at least. Should he be fast tracked or will his career suffer?

Some Twitter praise from Stan Collymore for Ben Davies the other night. Taylor has a fight on his hands for both the Swans and Wales number 3 shirt

I thought he was very average against Wigan. First half Mcmanaman got the better of him many times. Having said that, every Swansea player was dreadful first half, although having said that, Wigan were crap too.

Collymore was talking in the context of the whole season rather than the Wigan game

Ben came on for Neil Taylor against MU on about 60 minutes yesterday if you didn't see it. Great to see Taylor back and for a first game against MU at OT he did enough to suggest he will be back as a real force next season given time. Davies looked really good when he came on. No respecter of reputations.

I'm not sure how Neil Taylor and Ben Davies are going to fit in next season, of course with Swansea City being in Europe there's going to be much more opportunities for different players to take part and it's always good to have competition for positions. If Ashley Williams makes a move this summer then it's been suggested that Laudrup will convert Ben Davies to play at CB, I'd love to see this as I think it'll benefit Wales quite a lot. This season Angel Rangel has played a role further up the pitch in the RM position and he's done quite well there, so maybe Taylor or Davies will get an opportunity to play on the wing. Or of course Davies could play LB and Taylor RB, Awesome how many young full-backs we actually have now. Exciting times for Welsh football!!

Successfully converting Ben Davies into a Centre Half would be one of the most important changes for our team. The big outstanding item after that would be to find that natural goal scorer.
Ben Davies & Joniesta are certainly our highlights of 2013 thus far. Up Welsh Football!
