On Wikipedia he's down as 5'11" (although if you look elsewhere online he's down as 5'6" - which is obviously nonsense). If he's less than 6" then that's a bit on the short side for a centre half. Having said that James Chester is also only 5' 11", and Ashley Williams is just 6'.
Ideally you want at least one tall centre half - so perhaps we'll have to keep James Collins in the side for a while yet.

Assuming that he would get regular game time he would benefit by playing for a big club with a manager that doesn't stick to the English way. The fact that Spurs are in the Europa league might not enthuse the average Spurs fan but would help to develop Ben for the international stage we want him to excel on.

A move to spurs would be great. Its been a problem position for them for a while, and them trying to sign him tells me they see him as their left back for the next 10 years. Its a good step up from Swansea, a club with a great future, great manager, and it leaves Taylor first choice at Swansea.

If Luke Shaw is worth £25m or thereabouts then Davies is worth, what, £15m. I'm assuming there's a £7m premium on Shaw just because he's English and £3m extra because Manchester United are desperate for a left back. Davies is an established international which Shaw isn't

Davies is an established international which Shaw isn't How do you quantify playing for Wales at international level? I don't think being a Welsh international adds anything to a players transfer value unless they have proved to be a match winner at that level a la Bale. Even then I wonder how much Bale's performances under Speed contributed to his 86 million transfer fee. Not a lot I wouldn't have thought. Strangely, being an England international seems to inflate a player's value considerably, obviously only in the eyes of the selling club. I recall Emile Heskey being persona non grata when playing for a club (Liverpool?) then a totally random cap from nowhere from the then England manager (McLaren?) resulted in a great performance and a transfer a few weeks later for an incredible amount that simply would not have happened without the profile of that England comeback. Playing for England truly is a unique goldfishbowl that magnifies a players worth way beyond their true value. Crazy stuff. You would imagine going on recent England performances that they buyer will now be very wary of buying into these inflated transfer costs.

Is Luke Shaw a better player than Ben Davies? Not especially bothered, but it's an interesting thought.
Spurs buying him is highly interesting on the basis that they buy players with a view to selling them for massive profits. Bodes well for us.

I haven't seen a lot of Luke Shaw so couldnt comment on who is the better player
However, he hasn't played European football and has barely played international football
Based on that Swansea should play hard ball and look to getting closer to £20m

Good news for Ben Davies, I hope he moves abroad in the future, and good news for Neil Taylor, hopefully he gets regular first team football next season.
A lot of teams in the world cup playing 3 centre backs, could this work for us? - Collins Williams Chester - then: Davies and Taylor/Matthews/Gunter full backs?

Evra replacement? They've already got a 30 million quid replacement. At Liverpool he would be first choice unless they sign someone else, so either way spurs or Liverpool will work for me.

Liverpool are in the Champions League and have, marginally, more stability right now. I'd go for them as the preferred choice.

"English players are probably afraid to come abroad, they're in a comfort zone in England." Did not expect to agree with Ashley Cole but for the longest time have seen the EPL as part of the problem. Would love to see more Welsh players in other European leagues.

I'd caution against listening to anything 'cashley' cole says. There is only 1 reason he moved abroad. So hypocritical - he is moving abroad when his best days are well and truly behind him. A player needs to move when he is developing not after he has already peaked.

Its all about the money. This case is a good example. If there is any truth of Atletico's interest in Davies its a sorry state of affairs when spurs, who are a club going nowhere, are in a better position to sign him over a club that were champions league runners up last season.

A player needs to move when he is developing not after he has already peaked. The pedestrian pace of Italian football will probably mean he gets a year or two more out of his career

10 million deal agreed with spurs apparently. I know I said spurs are a club going nowhere, but my disliking of Liverpool trumps that fact. Its a decent step up with bigger steps to take if he performs.

Can you explain why the 'disliking' of Liverpool??
A club who have NEVER as far i'm aware have stopped a Welsh international for playing for Wales at any given time!!!
If Harry Wilson not playing for U17 is your problem? Then perhaps just perhaps they are looking after him at an early age.
MUFC dislike then i would agree (Giggs being the obvious reason)

Ben DaviesMauricio Pochettino is one of the few Premiership managers who could improve his game further. SuperBale did well out of his time at Spurs after a rocky start SpursThey have bought a young player and one of the best attacking defenders in the Premier League WalesThere is now a strong prospect of both Davies & Taylor getting regular first time football. I think working with Mauricio Pochettino will make Ben Davies an even better player.

I don't like Liverpool either, I think they let their players take too many liberties and walk over the club. Shocking

But I see that kind of will to win (evidenced by stacks of trophies) as being essential in any sport. I don't think that's the reason most people who claim to not like him would give though.
