Good point raised in Podcast Peldroed, Pochettino signed Davies (assuming it wasn't the board) yet he plays Danny Rose who most Spurs fans think is garbage.

Unbelievable.
Much better player than Danny fΒ£&king Rose, in all aspects. Just a naturally gifted footballer and got that stump of a bloke playing in his position!

Rose was at fault for the second goal which could open the door for Davies.
In saying that I don't think Davies has been impressive in the cup games he has played so not really demanding a place just yet.
An example of why money shouldn't be the major factor in a player's career, gone from premiership regular and a shoe in for Wales to probably now being a squad player.
Taylor (possibly Dummett ahead at left back) and Collins Chester and possibly Dummett ahead at centre half.
I really hope he gets in the Spurs team quickly as I do think he is our best left back.

Has seldom put a foot wrong for Wales. Let's not forget his career has been one of continual improvement ever since being chucked in by Laudrup when pretty much no-one, including a lot of Swans fans, had heard of him. This is the first challenge he is, arguably, struggling to overcome. He'll be a better player for it though. He's twice the player that Rose is.
The worry for me is if Pochettino goes so soon - and Levy has previous here - yet another manager comes in. Never ideal, but hopefully a new manager would recognise and appreciate his class.

Its a desperate situation at spurs. They're in the Europa league, they're trying to instil new ideas, the players aren't playing for the manager etc. It looks like it'll result in a managerial change which I think will be good for Davies. For 2 main reasons - he wouldn't improve them even if he did play in this team at this moment and I don't think Pochettino was the one to sign Davies.

Dembele and Vetongen, 2 of Belgium's most experienced players are also having problems getting a game at Spurs

It's too early yet to see any problem,
If he isn't playing week in week out in the premier league next season then fair enough for this thread
He's a clever person and he'll be the calmest one about all of this, watch him work hard and become and even better player.

Ben Davies starting for Spurs today.
Chester on the bench for Hull.

Poor for the Hull goal. Pretty much got to Livermore but made his body smaller and let the ball past him.

Ture, but he was the only player that made an effort to close Livermore down. He made an important block when Lloris dropped the ball from a Hull free kick!
Overall, it was a good performance. He will improve once he's a regular starter

Davies did okay today and kept things very simple, I don't blame him for the goal although I thought his crossing was poor.
It was good that they won as he will probably keep his place and hopefully he will start to grow in confidence as he establishes himself in the team.
Would personally have played him ahead of Taylor in this campaign

Nice to see Davies is starting again for spurs tonight. Hope he nails down his place permanently not just for Europa games.

Had a good game tonight - looked sharp and solid defensively. It doesn't seem as if his team mates are on the same wavelength mind - as he often made runs which were ignored.

Not surprising considering they probably don't even know who he is. They probably think hes a fan who paid a lot of money for a shirt number and keeps getting trotted out to make up the numbers in the Europa League, because they dont see him apart from on Thursday nights.

Saw a bit of the game, including some gritty stuff when he got in a tangle with a few everton players, ending up on the floor, but still managing to win back and keep hold of the ball! Top performance. Tottenham fans raving about him on twitter now, but nothing new to us! Surely he's going to be starting over Rose now.

Should be starting for Wales, if only for that cross he put on a plate for Bale v Andorra. Is his crossing normally as good as that? Could do with more of the same.

Played well today. I wonder if Rose was injured or completely left out of the league side like Davies has been for the most part.

Yes, his crossing ability is very good, I'm sure he's working hard to keep improving on it. He's been taking some free kicks for Spurs and I remember him taking corners for the Swans too.

Last ditch tackle on Bony before that drilling in that to pass to Eriksen - Ben Davies put in brilliant shift Sunday - barring losing Routledge to cross for Bony, overall, he kept Routledge quiet. Long may his run in the Tottenham side last. If by March, his circumstances are identical to what they are presently, he should be in the side before Taylor against Israel, who to me, looks like a pale imitation of what he used to be sorry to put.

Even when Ben hasn't been playing consistently, he still should have started over Taylor. He's proper grabbed his chance now at Tottenham, getting rave reviews on Twitter. Good for him.

Hmm tough one. Shame one of them isn't right footed then we could have both. I would not advocate playing Taylor right back but I still think Davies could do a job at centre half. I've never seen him play there but his size, strength, reading the game etc tells me he could.

I think there's a case to having Davies ahead of Taylor, but Taylor's form has been better than people have given him credit for. I see him slowly getting back to his best - trouble is the way the full backs play under Monk isn't the same as under Rodgers and Laudrup. The interplay between full back and winger was a big strength under Rodgers in particular. Now the wingers - especially Montero - play much more as orthodox out-and-out wingers, often leaving Taylor unsupported. Hopefully, as Montero and Taylor develop an understanding, Taylor's performances will be seen in a better light.
