Port Vale: Page takes temporary charge after Adams operation www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24227965Will be interesting to follow his results here considering he is also Wales U21 Team Assistant. Good experience for him.

Given the Port Vale job until the end of the season
Nice to see another young welsh coach (40 is young to me) getting a chance.
Have mixed feelings as to whether I want Kit Symons to get the Fulham job

Good luck to him
Is he not involved with the younger Welsh national teams in some capacity?

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39025652Robert Page is the Football Association of Wales' (FAW) number one target to be the new manager of the Under-21 and intermediate age group teams. Page has been interviewed by the FAW, but no contract has been signed yet. The 42-year-old is currently first team coach at Championship club Nottingham Forest after he was sacked by League One side Northampton Town in January. The former Cardiff City and Watford defender was capped 41 times by Wales in a 10-year international career. If he takes over, Page will succeed Geraint Williams whose contract was not renewed by the FAW when it expired last year. The former Derby and Ipswich midfielder had been in charge since 2012.

Not sure what to make of this.
Yes he started his coaching career as a youth team coach with Port Vale so would have more experience than Williams had.
However, I'm not sure what impression our talented youngsters will have of him. He would need to appoint a new coaching team as well given that David Hughes also left to Join Aston Villa as u18 manager

I think this is a decent appointment, any new man will want to bring in his own coaches anyway

Until this season was highly rated at Northampton.

The fact he has previous experience coaching youth level is an immediate improvement on Williams. Developing youngsters is a whole different ball game to managing seasoned professionals.
Could be a shrewd appointment.

Not doing too bad so far is he? So far so good, but I did find it a bit disheartening that when we were 3-0 up and 3 mins into injury time, we were on the break and he screamed take it to the corner! Not the mindset we need!

What’s the feeling? I’d love to give Bellamy a shot at this job.

What’s the feeling? I’d love to give Bellamy a shot at this job. Four games left in the group. My feeling is let's see where we are in the autumn. I'm open minded if I see improvement in those games. It's a funny one though. It seems in the UK the youth teams is a development platform for not just players, but managers too. I guess it's the nature of the beast, but it seems as though that can be a risky philosophy. I'd like to see Bellamy in there too if he's ever available for it.

His results seemed to have gotten progressively much better during his time in the role. He has a very good group of players, though being an optimist, it often feels like that. I believe they had an odd heavy loss as they lost players to international, but then bounced back to beat a young Sheffield United side 8-0 the other day.

See it has a threat instead of looking at the big picture I do see what you mean, but don't think he should have a say in the matter and doubt that he actually would. Maybe I'm being naive. Giggs will be in the Wales role for two tournament cycles maximum I would imagine. Maybe even just the one, if he is radically successful or radically unsuccessful. So the threat of a successful u21 manager shouldn't bother him as they would need a tournament cycle (or, going on u21 trends, one qualifying campaign) to make a case for themself.

Such a shame to write Robert off. But looks like he’s not getting the results. Rhondda people love being Welsh. Hope Page proves me wrong

To be fair you could say his best players I.e. Ampadu, Woodburn have not been available with Brooks and Wilson. But still, it is no excuse.

Too early to write Page off, but I've not been any more impressed with the way we play under his tenure than I was with his predecessor. I struggle to discern the Welsh Way in the way the U23s perform.

What’s the feeling? I’d love to give Bellamy a shot at this job. I like Page, but everything looks all over the shop tactics wise and doesn't seem to get best out of players. Yeh I can see Bellars doing well, but would defo have to give Cam Toshack a shout for what he has done for young Swans, has more or less taken academy to top. Ian Rush is someone else who I thought might be quite good.

The latest EJFOF podcast discuss Page in a lot of detail.
Best of luck to him stepping up in Giggs' absence. Hopefully it goes well because lets face it, he's the most likely to take the hot seat if Giggs is relieved of his duties.

Must be so difficult to do that job with your best players constantly being snatched up. Let's see how he does for us in these 3 then go from there

There was mention that our run of not conceding goals started when he started as Assistant Manager. I've not 'fact checked' that, but if true, he definitely has brought something to the management team.

I've not 'fact checked' that, but if true, he definitely has brought something to the management team. Osian left our setup either just before or just after Azerbaijan & Belarus home. Belarus was the game we trialled Moore up front with Jonny as the no.10 & that's when our performances started improving, it's also when Page would have come in for Osh so it's hard to say the cause and effect. Moore made us better defensively because he took the pressure off our defence who were playing around with it a lot more back then. With Moore in there we were able to lump it if we were under pressure and we kept the ball a lot of times so our defensive record definitely improved with that

Anyone else already more impressed with the way Robert Page speaks with the media compared to Mr Giggs? RG is still early into his managment career and he has improved on that front tbf
