Let’s stop this scapegoating. You seriously believe one player was responsible for this? His link up play is good but he is not a striker. How about blaming forwards such as Wilson and Bale who missed easier opportunities? I wonder why not? Or our dire midfield. He can’t help being picked, but he can help his body language which, from what I gather, is not exactly that of a player who is busting a gut for his country. By contrast, look at James- seems to be struggling a bit at the moment in his usefulness but you can tell he gives his all at least.

He is obviously not confident in front of goal
It is not an attitude.
He is 22 and turns up for us most of the time (unlike Aaron), so lets give him a break.
I hope he does not read this chat board otherwise he will be retiring from Wales now.

Reading this chat you'd think we had an abundance of no 9's queuing up to play yesterday. He's only 22 , his best years are still to come and I feel once his confidence at international level is boosted with a few goals he will be a good option as backup striker

You suddenly telling us to get off your favourite player’s back is the dictionary definition of poacher turned gamekeeper. Start applying this logic evenly to every player and maybe people might take it more seriously.

Yeah, sadly no-one is leading a campaign to get off Morrell’s back- quite the opposite.

Ive said it before, given how Moore took to international football and silenced the doubters has to show that sometimes you have to just give other options a chance, at the very least in friendlies. However we wasted our most recent friendly bu giving Roberts a chance to play like Roberts, just as he has done in every single previous cap. And then people are like “we should give Roberts even more chances because he’s bound to score eventually”. We’re proving Einstein right that doing the same thing repeatedly whilst expecting a different outcome is insanity.

He is still growing into his role , he is a proven player at the top level and has Prem experience. If he put away his 1 on 1 which was a fantastic save we'd be all here today speaking about how he is the saviour of our campaign. I don't see many more lining up for us , I don't see Doidge as the answer to our problems

I don't see many more lining up for us , I don't see Doidge as the answer to our problems Well Harris needs to be given a full 90/180 minutes and after last night Jephcott has to be worth a try if only with a view to proving what we already suspect. He seems to know where the net is at club level, if Bale can put the ball on a plate for him at international level he just might just score the odd crucial goal in our return fixtures against Estonia and Belarus which is more than we seem to be getting out of Roberts. In fairness to Roberts not only does he not really contribute at the moment he isn’t being played in his natural position. We need to be moving heaven and earth to try and find a striker but there seems to be no real urgency on the part of Page. Probably because even after last night Page probably thinks he’s the man to follow in Guardiola’s footsteps and make a false 9 work at international level. What a terrifying thought…

I’d go as far as saying he actually helped Estonia last night. If we had played without him we would probably have faired better. Total disgrace for his Country and should never wear the shirt again…..but knowing Page he’s already pencilled Roberts in for the next two matches. Get to f*ck mate! Ridiculous statement!

I avoided coming on here because I expected to witness petulance and emotional incontinence. It’s embarrassing to see grown men having hissy fits and scapegoating hardworking but limited players.
I think I’m done with this forum. Every time I log off I’m more despondent than when I came on. Reading some of these comments feels like being lobotomised.
It seems like all boards have gone the same way.

What do you suggest, remove all negative posts and just leave the positive ones so everything in the garden looks rosey. The country as a whole is becoming a place where your opinion is valued as long as it "toes the line" let's not dumb this place down as well. I for one enjoy people "telling it like it is" I think the world is better for a bit of straight talking and I have no issue if someone disagrees with me and calls me out, it's part of debate.

I’m interested in reasonable debate but not in listening to strops. If that’s what others want, that’s fine. But it’s not for me.

Everyone has a right to an opinion and to express it as crudely as they wish as long as they abide by the parameters of the rules. If you struggle with that and don’t wish to use the block facility then that’s unfortunate but it’s your issue to resolve. If you do decide to leave then I wish you well in finding a message board that only contains views you deem acceptable- I think that’s the holy grail for all of us!

So we've reached the point now that even complaining about drawing to Estonia is deemed excessive and inappropriate?
People used to get outraged when we had poor results under Coleman, and nobody questioned it, so what's different now?
This is Welsh football and it's frustrations after all, not a happy go lucky, let's all skip and hold hands children's party.

Venting about what makes us angry is a key function a forum serves- you don’t know whether anyone here has anyone they can vent to in real life. In all likelihood the tone will change once these results have disappeared in the rear view mirror and the next qualifiers are on the horizon. In fact we’re just off the back of two tournament finals appearances- you should revisit the Toshack years to see how angry Welsh football message boards could be.

Sorry did not realise you were the smart one on here Tyler is 22 and he was played out of position agaim. His run was fantastic, his technical ability is great but he is not a striker! Page put him there!!! How can he be singled out when our actual forward - Bale and especially Wilson also missed great chances? Morrell is played in his position, has had a very long run in the team but has a more limited ceiling. Gunter plays his position but is not what we need from a full back nowadays as he offers little moving forwards. I credit Morrell with keeping going until the end and to be fair he has created two great chances in two games. I think we have all concluded you can't play both him and Allen in midfield. We obviously lacked energy and forward thinking from our midfield and full backs Playing playing in the third/fourth divisions - they just can't possibly cut it against decent teams - the standard they are playing is just too low. That is a key concern for Morrell, Gunter and Joniesta. Maybe Morrell can improve and get to the Championship. However, is it a coincidence we have 3 third division players on the pitch last night and failed? Look we are all stressed as to what is happening. We all now realise Page does not seem to have any growth and is probably having a negative impact on our team and have concluded as a result we have zero chance of qualifying now. Lets stop attacking each other. I criticise selections not players. I do not hate Page. I just find this situation tragic for Wales - we had a massive opportunity and will probably see the Jocks qualifying instead!!! BTW - does anyone know why our Dutch coach decided to leave? It was soon after Page was confirmed wasn't it? I am really upset if he was pushed out. As noted - 3 Welsh lower league defenders as coaches looks unbalanced on paper and when you see these terrible performances then it is incredible that Page or the WFA did not see this risk coming.

I remember on the old DS board there seemed to be a lot of nannying going on, it is a breath of fresh air to have a place like this where you can freely express an opinion, not too many places in society you can now. If you don't like seeing someone expressing an alternative view to you or in an alternative fashion then an internet forum isn't the place for you so you need to go find a 'safe space' to go and hide yourself in where you don't have to deal with the agony of being confronted by having individuals perceiving reality in a different fashion to you!

With strikers that don't really score goals my question to them is always "well what else do you do?" I think the issue with Roberts at this stage is he doesn't really seem to do an awful lot apart from being there and running about, he's not linking play, he's not making lots of runs to open spaces for others etc. It may come in time, he might suddenly hit a few for Leeds, then a few for Wales or vice versa and everything takes off but right now I'm not looking at him and thinking we've got a real gem for the next ten years that can bang in the goals for us and be the difference. Plenty of other teams would have played exactly like us last night, big European teams too, the difference is that they have that striker that can nick a 1 or 2-0 against a supposed minnow when not everything is coming off.

It was pretty apparent Roberts up top wasn't really working so I've no idea why Page left him up there when Wilson's injury afforded him an opportunity to change things fairly early on. Roberts could have been moved back into the 10 position with Harris, who I thought was impressive again, going up top
I think some of the frustration with Roberts is that he is an immensely talented footballer, but he isn't particularly effective (at least when Wales play him). I said elsewhere that I think he is a better footballer than Mark Harris, but Harris is a more effective striker and should start ahead of him in spite of being a more technically limited player

anyone who watched the victory shield games this year will know just what a promising talent 14 year old Tyler Roberts is. He might, just might, be the striker we've all been crying out for.. Maybe in seven or eight years time - and that's if we're extremely fortunate. Guess that didn't work out then.Thing is he always was a striker from his schoolboy days, its only lately he's featured more for Leeds as a midfielder of some sort so its not unnatural for him to be an option to fill in for Moore, given he plays a lot of Premier league minutes and given lack of alternatives. It just hasn't worked and if he's got a future with us its more likely in a central midfield role given his lack of predatory instincts.

Looking back at the match I don't know why Page didn't just drop Roberts back and bring on Harris or Johnson. Roberts can be useful for his ball retention and passing, but shouldn't have been chucked up top by himself.

Doesn't roberts play a bit deeper for leeds and looks ok with his skills and passing but even we know he isn't a natural goalscorer, for that reason alone it says the manager is flawed really.

Neither have developed in to the players/forwards I expected them to. I still believe he can be a good player for us, but in a deeper role like you say.

Bielsa must rate him to a certain degree because he keeps bringing him on for Leeds and probably could have signed someone deemed better than him in the summer to take his place if he didn't feel he had the potential to be a useful top flight player.
