Saw Josh Sheehan play for the under 19s in one of the warm up games v Macedonia that were played behind closed doors at Dragon Park a few months ago. Very impressive. Believe Gavin Ward had 10 mins in goal for Liverpool last night in their friendly with Brondby.

Nathan missed Josh Sheehan & Alex Bray off his Swansea Welsh players list -and these 2 have been playing for the Swansea first 11 in pre-season.On bench today against Villareal.Swansea's current stripped squad and injuries might give these 2 game time in the coming months. However comment re.leaving for game time being beneficial is true-Joe Walsh has developed since Crawley and hope works too for Gwion Edwards there.

And what kind of players are they?

Unfortunately, he two Scottish players who arrived from Falkirk, Fulton and Kingsley are the young players most likely to break through to the first team any time soon. They both benefit from having played hell of a lot of professional games already. Although there are a number of Welsh players coming through who could eventually make it, most will probably have to gain experience at a lower level first.
I think the Swans will only start contributing significantly to the Welsh team in 3 or 4 years time - once the Academy is fully fledged, with Category 1 status. At least the physical infrastructure is largely in place now, and the club's commitment to the academy is strong - so there's good reason to be optimistic long term.

Agree 100% but personally wish the club would be more explicit about wanting to produce Welsh talent, especially from Swansea & surrounding areas.

Sheehan impressed the Brentford commentators. He's the Welsh development player most likely to progress to the full team next.

Newport County sign Josh Sheehan on loan... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37013384Newport County have signed two Premier League youngsters on loan. Bournemouth forward Jordan Green and Swansea and Wales U21 midfielder Josh Sheehan, have joined the Rodney Parade club until January. "We would like to thank both Bournemouth and Swansea for their help in getting these deals over the line," manager Warren Feeney said. The duo will be eligible to make their debuts in tomorrow's EFL Cup tie with MK Dons, subject to clearance. Newport are seeking an improvement after losing their opening League Two contest against Mansfield. Sheehan made 13 appearances for Yeovil Town last season on loan, while Green is highly-rated at Bournemouth who signed him when he was working part-time in a supermarket stacking shelves. "Josh knows this division well from his time at Yeovil last season and he has great potential," Feeney said. "I think he will offer something different for us and will add quality to our squad. "Josh is always looking to get on the ball and make things happen and he creates the opportunity for other players around him to be that little bit more flexible and his signing will give us another dimension. "Jordan is an exciting player and he is a forward that will look to put the opposition on the back foot. "He likes to attack and he likes to run at defenders and I think that he will be an exciting addition for us."

Newport County manager Michael Flynn wants to bring Swansea City loan star back in January www.southwalesargus.co.uk/sport/football/newportcounty/15709113.Exiles_boss_keen_to_bring_Josh_Sheehan_back_to_Rodney_Parade/NEWPORT County AFC manager Michael Flynn has admitted that he’d love to see Josh Sheehan return to Rodney Parade next month. The 22-year-old Swansea City midfielder enjoyed a successful loan spell with County last season, scoring seven goals in 25 appearances. That made him the Exiles joint top scorer in the 2016-2017 campaign but he has been out since March after having surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament. Sheehan, who was handed a month-by-month contract by the Swans in the summer, has now recovered from the injury and looks set to go out on loan in January. And Flynn, who was first team coach during Sheehan’s time at the club, says he would welcome the Llanelli-born playmaker back with open arms. “I’d be silly not to be interested, he’s a good player,” said the Exiles boss, who has been monitoring Sheehan’s recovery. “I got on really well with him when I was his coach and I know how hard he’s worked to get back into a fit position. He’s bulked up – he’s not the skinny little boy that he used to be. He’s used his time off wisely and I’m sure he’ll only become a better player for it. He scored seven goals for us I think and he ended up our joint top scorer, which is not bad for somebody who didn’t play as much. He’s a talent and I am interested.” And Flynn, who was first team coach during Sheehan’s time at the club, says he would welcome the Llanelli-born playmaker back with open arms. “I’d be silly not to be interested, he’s a good player,” said the Exiles boss, who has been monitoring Sheehan’s recovery. He’s a talent and I am interested.” Flynn recently attended a Swansea match with chairman Gavin Foxall and chief executive Alex Tunbridge and the two clubs have a good working relationship. “The chairman and Alex, the CEO, have helped in building the links with Swansea,” he explained. “I’ve got a good relationship with [Swansea under-23 coach] Cameron Toshack and Nigel Rees, the academy manager down there. And Gavin and Alex took it a little bit further and built up a relationship with [Swans chairman] Huw Jenkins. We’re Welsh clubs and we all want to help each other, I just hope they get out of the position they are in at the moment.” County also have strong links with Championship club Bristol City. Flynn hopes to extend the loan of City striker Shawn McCoulsky in January and he has his eye on one or two of the Robins’ other young prospects. “We had a reserve game against Bristol City last week,” he said. “I’ve got a good relationship with Lee Johnson, who is doing a fantastic job there. I had a chance to have a look at a few of their players and we both gave some a run out. We lost 3-1 but it was a strong Bristol team and I was pleased with what I saw." “I’ve spoken to Lee about Shawn. We’re in constant contact and I’m hopeful on that one and also maybe one or two more from there.”

Josh Sheehan has been released by Swansea and has signed for Newport. Surprised to see Swansea let him go, considering the chance that the Swans may very well be playing in the Championship next season - and there's good reason to think that Sheehan is good enough for the Championship. Another midfielder blighted by injury - but with a lot of talent. Premature.

He’s more likely to get game time at County, from where he has the chance to relaunch his career. Much preferable to rotting in u23 football.
Good luck to him.

True, but what I'm advocating is that Swansea extend the deal then send the player out on loan. I'm surprised that they don't see any future value in Sheehan. Playing for the Wales U23s last season he was one of the few Welsh players to catch the eye. I think he could well have a good future ahead of him, at Championship level at least.

Sheehan will walk into our side when he's fit, but he hasn't played a competitive game for 10 months!
Fingers crossed he does the business for us, fulfills his potential and gets a move to a big club. We all know he's capable.

2 mins gone and he scores again. Call him up Giggsy. It might not be beyond the realms of possibility. Pity he's at league two level though. But I would rather Giggs look to younger players with potential than say mid twenties players in league one.

Sheehan is 22 - and lost a lot of time to injury. He still just about falls into the bright new thing category...

Going to watch us at Newport next Saturday, so will update everyone after that. Give us an uPd@Te.... Sorry, had a crazy week. Cracked one in early doors from inside the area while we were still asleep. We played quite well for the next 20 minutes until just after the equaliser as we dominated the midfield. Then the game kind of died a death. He certainly didn't stand out, although the pitch, while much better than it was (and much better than's Coventry's, who we played on the Tuesday night), still isn't conducive to midfielders standing out unless they are the harry and hussle-type.
