I think the key to this move is that there are good players at the wrong club, fwiw I think Joe Morrell is a better player, but, not having seen much of Luton, it would be a pretty safe guess to say that Joe is not a part of Nathan Jones vision. Sheehan is a perfect fit for Evatt, a possession based style on the front foot playing through the thirds in a progressive way, not side to side. Evatt has signed defenders who are good on the ball, bur literally couldn't defend, and coached that skill into them. Sheehan will be integral to Evatt's team which is why I think he will be one of the first on the team sheet, and why this is a good move for player, club and potentially country. I'm sure Josh could have got a better deal further up the leagues, and his agent a better cut, so can't see how he's been mugged off.

Josh has moved up a level and still looks class, the kind of player who looks better the further up the leagues he will play, still has one more big move IMO, unless Bolton can get to the Championship soon. The only concern I have is that he fades noticeably in the latter part of the game, maybe it's early in the season, or possibly a stamina issue, Newport supporters may be able to confirm if this is a weakness in his game. When the match becomes attritional he also becomes superficial, not Josh's fault it's just not his game. I know Evatt believes in him though and wants to build the team around him. I just worry if Bolton start to struggle he may be the one to be sacrificed for a more defensive player like Kieran lee to play alongside MJ.

Could've done with him on the pitch instead of Allen or Morrell against Estonia.

Sheehan's out for the rest of the season with an ACL injury. Gutted for him.
Hopefully Bolton do him a solid and get promoted without him so that he can come back a Championship player next season.

Back tonight in the Papa John's trophy against Crewe after his ACL injury ! Not watching as it's an annoying real life incompatible 7 pm kick off but the guys on iFollow say he's still looking class at this level.
Isgrove should not be far behind him now.
Crewe have Billy Sass-Davies and Zac Williams in the team, Eli King on the bench for them.

We are so lucky Ramsey did not go the same way.

I think he’s probably right too. Page doesn’t seem to want to invest too much time in older (post 25) players. It’s debatable whether he would have capped Moore when his eligibility came to light.

I think the point I made above is still valid though. Page seems to only want to introduce younger players to the squad where ever possible. Sheehan is 27 now, the squad is fairly settled. Is Page going to call him up unless he has a very compelling reason to given he doesn’t already have much international experience to his name? I’d be surprised if he did. He might sign for another 4 years right now but I expect there is a fair element of that just to ensure the FAW get compo in the future. If Page gets a lucrative offer from a championship club off the back of the World Cup it’s hard to see why he might stay after taking Wales to a World Cup and a Euros. The FAW certainly won’t be able to compete on the salary front with a lot of clubs, as we found out with Coleman.

Do you think Sheehan can take his game to the next level and become an important player for wales in that midfield?

Sheehan still looks a class above this level at times, but I think this is one of those situation, like with Ramsey, where he needs help with the mental side of his game. An injury like those two suffered must really play on the mind. I think that's the only thing holding him back at the moment, he's not playing with the same intensity yet that he had pre-injury, and I worry that he's running out of time and out of contract at the end of the season, so he may need a sideways move to tread water.

Some comments from Bolton fans after last nights game:
“Josh Sheehan is very magic by the way. His on the ball technicality and ability to drop deep and help us play out the press is so good to watch.“
“Josh Sheehan is playing brilliantly getting into tackles and being quick on the ball.”
“ @joshsheehan_ Was immense tonight!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 #bwfc”
“ Josh Sheehan is a incredible player #bwfc”
“Ran the game last night”

Josh was very good on Friday, one of his best games for Bolton, showed what level he can play at when not getting Tw&$ted all the time by L1 cloggers. Gethin was immense as well. Evatt has managed him really well, alternately rested then picked his games to allow him the opportunity to get back to where he was pre-injury. The manager I think has always seen him as that deep lying playmaker, he looks more confident now getting in tackles as well. The first game I've seen where he looks back to his best, physically and mentally, these things take time.

A real "pick that one out of the back of the net" from Josh today. Bossed the second half. MJ drafted in as an emergency CB currently, nothing got passed him today, many peoples MOTM.

Josh signed on for a further 2 years at Bolton, There was reported interest and offer from Exeter apparently. MJ incidentally triggered an automatic 12 months contract extension based on last seasons appearances. Fans are generally happy at this turn of events. Could be a big year for the Welsh Wanderers. Lloyd Isgrove released, hope he finds a club soon. He was very well regarded at the club by the fans, and worked his backside off when fit, but another one who suffered from too many lengthy injury layoffs.
