Surprise addition to say the least.
Good luck to him. Hope he can do the business.

He could surprise a few, given the level he's currently playing at. But he has a lot of quality, and I can easily see him playing at Championship level in the future.

Congrats on his debut. Thought he did well and added some calmness and steel to the centre of the park.
If someone has to come on for Ampadu or Morrell in the next two games, I’d take him over Smith and Levitt anyway.

Remember, he's playing regularly a level above Sheehan right now. Levitt though, I completely agree. I think Smith will start on Sunday with Ampadu. His early departure last night indicated that to me.

Allen, Ampadu, Morrell, Smith, Sheehan, Levitt, Vaulks would be my order of preference for midfielders now Sheehan shows the benefits of playing someone who has had 4/5 senior seasons under his belt - it's much easier for him to step in than talented younger players Sheehan is still only 25 as well, his career is only likely to head upwards, he could be a real asset for us. Great idea to include him in this squad, I hope he continues to be involved

Yeah it’s proved to be an astute call, he may be in league two now but he’s clearly a division or two better with a lot of experience under his belt.
Next year is massive with WC qualifiers and a tournament packed in. We need CMs ready to go now, not for the future.

OTJ made a good point last night that Sheehan's career spiraled downwards through no fault of his own after his leg break, was just one of those things where he sadly just couldn't play his way back up to the form he had previously. His move to L2 was good to get his match fitness and rhythm back up but, even though he's at that level he's not of that level, which is why he's more suited and at home with international football despite his club level than someone like Vaulks playing higher up. Same with Jonny I suppose to an extent.

Doing well so far. King has made some good saves too.
Couple of sandcastles near the centre circle!

Not sure why Sheehan's playing in League Two. Far too good for that level. Assist last night, though he should have had two but Lewis squandered a great chance. He'll be playing in League One next season regardless of if Newport go up. I even wonder if a Championship club would take a punt on him as he's available on a free.

He is patently streets ahead of League Two and this is evident even when he has quieter games for us. I guess that he might stay if we don't get promoted, but my guess is that someone will take a punt on him this summer. And he's go with my best wishes so long as it was a step up - been excellent for us.

He'll be playing in League One next season regardless of if Newport go up. I even wonder if a Championship club would take a punt on him as he's available on a free. That serious knee injury did for him. I think he probably would have been sniffing around the Swans' matchday squad by 17-18 had he not had that setback, but a year out the game coupled with Swansea's relegation meant he was shipped out. With that injury he could easily have fallen further...out of the game possibly. You see it often with a knee injury, clubs don't want to take the risk regardless of the talent potential at hand, why pay to nurse/rehab/improve such a player where the very real possibility of no payoff exists. Just look at Jonny Williams, a supremely talented player that's had such dreadful luck with injuries no-one wanted to take a punt. County should be highly commended (and a little bit proud of themselves too really!) for showing Sheehan the opportunity to build back these past few years and I hope they go up, not only for Welsh football, but also so they & Sheehan can continue to grow together, he's at the perfect place for him.

Played another blinder tonight in the 2nd play-off semi. Even if County do not get promoted, Josh should be closer to the Championship than league 1.
For me, should be ahead of Levitt (and maybe even Burton...) in our squad

He’s a tidy player, I’m sure he could cut it in the second tier

Ampadu, Allen, Morrell, Smith, Sheehan are my picks for the squad

He should be playing in the Championship. Someone is going to have an absolute bargain signing him on a free this summer, I just hope it's Cardiff. He would completely transform our midfield.

If he is out-of-contract, I would be conflicted between really wanting him at Luton to replace Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall but worried that Nathan Jones would get him completely wrong, as he has with Morrell.

I think he's too tidy of a player for Cardiff unfortunately. There will be plenty of interest in him, but i wouldn't be opposed to seeing him stay at Newport

Can't help but think him going there so early in the transfer window on a free is an opportunity missed? Going to be quite a few clubs looking at free transfers in particular this summer I would think.

Going to be quite a few clubs looking at free transfers in particular this summer I would think. Club on the up in League One with a few other Welsh players where he is pretty much guaranteed minutes. I think it's a good opportunity. If he went to a lower/middle Championship club then he would run the risk of relegation with them anyway, and could end up back in League One within a season. I think it's better to be at the top end of League One than the bottom end of the Championship for a midfielder like him where it's all about getting in rhythm I think it's a good move all in all

No evidence of that. I have to disagree. Agent creamed him off I think.
