Play their final game in the Ukraine today.
A win will give them second place and leave them sweating on the France v Finland game for a place in the play offs
Good luck girls

I was surprised they had to play the game in the Ukraine

Such a shame after what seemed a positive campaign.

It was always a difficult campaign to judge after Ukraine had three of their home games postponed. They way the fixtures panned out, I think they had four games in hand over Wales at one point. Credit to Ukraine for winning all four of those games.
Five great away performances for Wales - wins in Turkey, Belarus & Montenegro, and narrow defeats to England and Ukraine.
While Wales could and should have scored more goals at home (especially v Montenegro & Turkey), that ultimately made no difference. With Ukraine being the better side in the 1-1 draw earlier in the campaign, it's hard to see where Wales would have picked up the extra win they needed to secure second place.

The Finnish coach (whose name escapes me) has done a terrific job. Andy Legg in the running to succeed him apparently

He left once and player power got him back to the end of the campaign
He has done terrific things for welsh woman's football, Matikainen is his name (excuse spelling)

The groups were drawn today. Here is Wales' group:
Group 8: Norway, Austria, Wales, Israel, Kazakhstan.
Netherlands qualify for the 2017 competition as hosts and they will be joined by the eight group winners and the six best runners-up.
The two remaining runners-up will compete in a two-legged play-off for the last place.

Decent group I think.
Norway will beat everyone, which might work in our favour, as two could qualify from each group this time.
It's between Wales and Austria for second place. The games against Austria will be the decisive ones.
We should be looking to take maximum points off Israel and Kazakhstan.

Scotland got by far the easiest group though: Iceland Scotland Belarus Slovenia Macedonia That's the only Euro qualifying group without a 2015 World Cup finalist in it.

FT Austria 3 Wales 0.
Helen Ward had a good chance to make it 1-1 just after half time, but Austria dominated the last half hour.
Norway away next for Wales.
Who set the fixtures? Wales started with the second seeds away, followed next month by the top seeds away. Very tough start.

I always had it in my head that one of our teams other than the mens senior team would be the firat to qualify - u21s or the women perhaps. Doesn't look like it now.

Wales Women enjoyed a 4-0 victory this afternoon over Kazakstan at tha New Bridge Meadow Haverforwest, with 4 second half goals securing victory. full report from The Pembrokeshire Herald. fb.me/7I5EJmsyyAmatueurism came back though to haunt the Welsh FA with walk-up spectators having difficulty to get in. Despite hundreds of seats being available inside very little tickets were available at the turnstiles, leading to turnstile operators turning people away, including a very dissapointed grandparent of one of the players. but that was nothing compared to the shambles with the anthem. Hen wlad fy nhadau was played, then there followed a good couple of minutes of awkward silence before the opening bars of HWFNh were played again, before being quickly stopped! There then followed another awkward silence before the stadium announcer announced that there was a problem with the Kazakstan anthem, which led to the referee asking their players to sing the anthem themselves to the annoyance of their manager ? you could not make it up ! It would have made a hilarious episode of Cmon Midfield ? this is not the first time a cock up of this nature has occurred at The New Bridge Meadow, Haverfordwst, which seriously questions their ability to host prestigious games.

Will UEFA fine the FAW for the incompetence over the anthems.
Who was in charge of the ticketing arrangement?
