That looked very close. Where is the VAR? Commentary initially said it wasnt being referred to VAR? I thought every goal was checked if offside?

Ceri Holland take a bow. A slow run into the corner and even giving away a free-kick (it wasn't) you're giving it in the right area of the pitch.

Thank god for that.

Ceri 'Composure' Holland. Player of the game for sure.
Hannah Cain asking the ref to check VAR. Love it.
But we got the job done as a team.

Held their nerve at the end. Congratulations. Fully deserved. Is the tie against Ireland two legged or one away?

Deserved win overall, but we’ve gotta finish better when we get chances in the penalty area.
And what was going on with VAR there? Still got there in the end.

Next round of games will be completely different. Both in ways positive for us (reduced expectations compared to this fixture) and ways which make it tougher (a more difficult opponent), so it's important if possible to get down and support the team.

When's the away fixture? See the home is Fri 29th Nov so assume away is Tue 3rd Dec? Has anyone seen it confirmed?

Thoroughly deserved. 20 shots to Slovakia’s 2 shots. Wales commentary made out ref only used VAR because one of our players asked her too. Absolute disgrace if that was the case.

Substitutions haven’t helped tbh. Mcateer isnt ready for this level - by what I’ve seen. Kayleigh Barton looks like she runs through mud. I think, despite who she is, Fishlock should have come off around 75mins. Looks knackered. On Barton, she just played two awful passes within 40 seconds. Good job you were not listened to! She played the through ball which led to the killer goal in extra time. She probably touches the ball the least but how many of her touches are decisive? She deserves to get to a tournament so much! Without her we do not have a team. She is just incredible. Barton unfortunately does not have awareness - she gets herself offside on so many occasions and reacts slowly to so many things - but this time she didn't get offside and her big positive is that she is direct and will not hesitate to drive forward and smash the ball towards goal if given the chance! Ceri Holland as stated is our key player - amazing energy and keeps trying to drive us forward. Great composure for her goal too! Again she deserves for us to make it. Rowe and Woodham are the big disappointments for these 2 matches. Playing well below the standard they set last season - both moved clubs (Woodham had to) but seems those moves have not been helpful so far? I pray we have a far better set of performances so we can compete with Ireland in the play off final!

Good to see Hannah Cain back, she’ll be up to match speed next month and dangerous Did you see her through herself into a challenge despite coming back from her second ACL. How brave is she! and to have the intelligence and composure to ensure the ref checked the disputed goal with VAR!

It’s always been about together stronger which really worked getting the men’s side over the line. I love the affect it’s had on my sister (wasn’t interested at all growing up) and niece ( football obsessed an loves the game which it’s what it’s about. )if we can let’s pack the ground , I’m proud of how they have developed and now having a niece who loves football as much as me 🤷♂️ dare I say it Jess Fishlock has outdone bale 🤷♂️🫣

Just seeing the highlights - we played very well in build up play and created so many opportunities but its that final pass, final piece of composure or clinical edge in front of goal that let us down. If they can sort that out then getting the better of Ireland is not impossible
Fishlock has to stay fit and Morgan have to start - as she is so rapid and make so many great attacking runs - if she was prolific in front of goal / was a better assister then she would be in a top 4 team! Hope she has her scoring boots on.
Hopefully another month of action will get the likes of Woodham and Rowe in a far better groove, as a far improved delivery from Woodham and the Rowe of last year can make a major difference to the teams effectiveness
McAteer looked a bit lost when she came on - hopefully she learns a lot from last night's experience
Thought Griffiths did very well last night considering it was her first start. Obviously she is nowhere near the level of Ingle in terms of spraying the ball around but was more effective in getting stuck in, providing a strong physical presence in the middle and kept the ball pretty well
Hopefully Fishlock is fully fit for Ireland and Cain's extra month of game time gets her up to speed. I assume there is no chance that Hughes will be back by then? So unlucky as she seemed to be developing into the goalscorer we desperately need!

Just to wrap up - the women always deserve our support whatever happens as they give so much for the shirt. Really hope the women's game continues to thrive and grow so these athletes can enjoy the higher profile, greater opportunities and better rewards they deserve.

Looking at the highlights in the BBC report, stopping the video at 3:01, I don't think the first offside goal was the correct decision. There's a defender nearer penalty spot whereas our attacker nearer edge of the box.
Could have been a lot calmer on here and in the ground if that had been allowed.
But we probably needed the game time together. The more we play in these nervy, high pressure moments the better we are to face then when they come up again.
