Wayne did well I thought. Possibly could have covered his near post better for the winner, but in truth Sturridge's run should have been cut off

Was on the bench for Palace, Crooks picked Mandanda in his team of the week. Be interesting to see how long it takes Wayne to get the number 1 spot back- I can't see it being any time soon.
He is fortunate in some ways that his place is guaranteed under Coleman, in other ways he is still the logical choice even taking Coleman's notorious favouritism into account. Personally I wasn't impressed at all by Ward against Slovakia- he was shaky and didn't handle the occasion very well. Think he needs more club experience before he can be considered more than injury cover.

You should not believe anything that fool crooks says or rates in his teams. I doubt he can see the games over his fat stomach.

Pardew been a bit sneaky dropping him as soon as the window closed.

Pardew been a bit sneaky dropping him as soon as the window closed. He was injured, not dropped. He might still not be fully fit...but I don't think Pardew needs any excuse to have him on the bench seeing how much he paid for Mandanda. That would be a lot of cash for a reserve keeper.

Ward had a shocker tonight, he'll learn from it though.

Rather ominously Pardew made a specific point to mention after the game today how he likes playing out from the back and that it is high risk but when you have a keeper who can put Palace on the attack with one kick then he will continue to play like that.
So it seems that (rather like Guardiola) he sees Mandanda as more than a shot stopper.
Not exactly a surprise to anyone but it looks like Wayne's days are numbered there. Hope he goes out on loan or gets a permanent transfer in January. May have to drop down to the Championship.

Wayne should be back in goal tomorrow as that awful mandanda is injured. He may have a busy afternoon as we are against man city but we have a guaranteed 3 points in our next game.

Alun I heard that Ledley was injured. Back from the game, very unlucky against a man city team who resort to bad gamesmanship and a poor referee. A bit like last Saturday against Serbia. Wayne can not be blamed for the goals, the first one deflected off a player and the second one was the defence ball watching. Three points next week though.

Maybe we should stick Hennessey on Free Kicks like Jose Luis Chilavert (back in the day)!

Not sure how accurate it is, but according to fantasy football Hennessey made a staggering 12 saves against Liverpool. That's really impressive if true!

Great save from big Wayne to keep us in the match at the end. Bet he got a lot of man love from Ledley for that.

Certainly was. Just wish he'd stop trying to play out with teams pressing our 18 yard line. Teams are now wise to it and sooner or later its going to catch us out.

Completely disagree, if anything he doesn't do it enough. He lumps it up far too often me. But he was brilliant tonight! Made one amazing save in the first and again at the end.

That save at the end was out of the top drawer - very tricky low down and bouncing just in front of him. But his distribution is a real problem. He would be perfect for Northern Ireland - but I thought we had an ambition to play a progressive brand of football? I lost count of the number of times we just handed possession on a plate to Austria and Moldova due to futile long balls.
I'm really hoping Danny Ward gets game time soon. Although he had a couple of shaky moments in the Slovakia match his distribution was excellent.
At the moment our footballing identity is really confused, a bizarre blend of hoofball and a progressive brand of football. It's working defensively, but barely functioning offensively. Hennessey is part of that problem unfortunately.

That save at the end was outstanding, I think droppping Wayne would be incredibly harsh. He's been near faultless in a Welsh shirt for some time.

He had a nervous performance against Austria - but generally he's commanded his area well. His big flaw is his distribution - although to be fair he don't go long all the time last night. Ward would have to be playing at Premier League level regularly to get in ahead of Hennessey - and I can't see that happening soon. So we need to persever with Hennessey for now.

Brilliant save at the end last night, he's a good shot stopper. Distribution maybe debatable, but he has a big kick (remember the rubbish distribution from Boaz Myhill when he played!). My main gripe with him is why a guy of his size can't dominate his area?

Hennessey is back in the Palace squad but Speroni keeps the number 1 shirt. Unfortunately this could be the end of Wayne's run of first team football.
Time to test out Maxwell in the forthcoming friendlies? I'd certainly give hm at least 45 mins in the Panama game.

Hennessey still kept the group alive for us with that save out in Moldova. I can’t remember him being at fault for a goal in this qualifying. The Ireland game Ashley Williams was screaming for the ball

I don't rate Hennessey but he's come up big for us in the past and he's here to stay unless Ward gets a run at Liverpool
Although if Hennessey continues to miss Palace games and Maxwell keeps performing for Preston we could see a change
On a sidenote, its strange that all of our "main" keepers are from North Wales; Hennessey (Bangor), OWF (Gwynedd), Maxwell (St Asaph) and Ward (Wrexham) and the other (Davies) was born in Germany!
