Guaita back fit and comes straight back into the side with hennessey dropping to the bench. He's roughly the same age and is clearly the club's no.1 (from what I've seen, he looks like a very decent keeper too). Hennessey's actually done well in his absence, so it's extremely unlikely he will regain the no.1 spot. Sooner or later he will have to decide whether he's happy being second choice or whether it's time to move on. Ha. Well, that master plan stroke of genius worked well for Roy ;-) About as well as his plan in Nice back in 2016...

Quality when we needed it most. He deserves his 100th cap when it comes.

Unsung hero in most of our campaigns. Excellent double save last night. Could've been a different story had that gone in. Diolch Wayne!

Ha - I'm sure yesterday was the first time we've sung that chant about hennessey, it obviously came across clearly to the players! Shows how much of a difference the fans do make.
Hennessey deserves some serious credit because he has received some extremely unjustified criticism. I'm almost certain that without hennesey, we would not have qualified from this group and that says it all!

A chant came into my head after the saves, to the tune of wales, golf, madrid.....
H..... Hennessey, h..... hennessey, h..... hennessey
Poor taste? Yeah. I'll give myself a slap, get my coat and shut the door.

Love how his saves were celebrated like a goal as well, which they were essentially as good as.

I would have been furious if we'd conceded that goal though. Clear foul on Ramsey up the other end and (after seeing the highlights) the Hungarian attacker was offside.
Not to take anything away from Wayne though!

Could Hennessey reach 100 caps before Gunter?
He probably would have 100 by now if it wasn't for his major injury in 2012 and the back issue for the first Euro2016 match.
Can't see us having many friendlies for the next few years now with the postponement club games and the June 2021 WCQs.
He is currently on 89, Gunter 96.
If Gunter does win his 100th cap first, Hennessey is likely to get to 100 without sub/token appearances?

Unless Ward moves to a club where he is number 1 no one is close to Wayne Gunter has Roberts and Neco to compete with

Yeah Hennessey will get there first, Gunter may just about scrape it and I think Bale will also get there out of the players in our current squad.
What an era we'd have lived in where we've seen not 1, not 2 but 3 players reach a century.

What an era we'd have lived in where we've seen not 1, not 2 but 3 players reach a century. I’m a bit sceptical on Bale purely due to his injury record. He needs 17 games to reach the century, and averages 6 games a year for us. Granted he’ll get a few more at the tournament too, but he could easily be 33 and still be a couple of caps away. Might get close around that time if he picks up any serious injuries. I’d imagine that the FAW would do everything they could to get him to 100 even if that means a few cameos in friendlies. If I had to put money on it I’d say that Bale will get there - but it could be close! I think Ben Davies is a pretty safe bet to get to 100. Bar the last year or so he rarely gets injured - no young LB coming through to displace him. He’s 27 now but only just turned 27 so still plenty of time on his side. Averaging 8 caps a year since establishing himself in our starting XI. Has the flexibility to adapt tactically - and will probably be able to become a CB as he gets older and slower. I think by the time he’s 32 he’ll be very close to 100.

I think by the time he’s 32 he’ll be very close to 100. It's a situation with quite a few of our players over the years. Allen and Ramsey are on 56 and 60 respectively, but both turning 30 this year so it's unlikely they will reach 100 caps. Also for these two discipline is an issue. Going further back, Gabbidon should have made more than 50 Wales appearances - again but for injury - and the same with James Collins, should have had a lot more than 51. Bale I think will play for Wales as long as he can. Ronaldo is now 35 and I honestly think he will still be playing for Portugal into his 40s.

I think Wayne will get there first too. No credible current challengers with Danny Ward happy to collect splinters sitting on the bench, wasting his career away(even though he's probably on big wages).

Free kick he got the positioning all wrong Yeah I thought that to be honest. Only his 3rd PL appearance of the season though, meaning he's only had 2 in the last 13 months. Needs game time next season.

Thought it was a poor performance all in all. Free kick he got wrong, though even if he was in the right position he wouldn't have saved that. He also produced a weak punch straight to Henderson who hit the post and headed the ball straight to Salah while he was outside the 18 yard box, who surprised us all by scuffing it.
We all know it doesn't matter one bit when it comes to Wales though, as he's different gravy for us.

Won't be No1 at Palace again, as soon as Guiata (or whatever his name) is fit he'll be back between the sticks.
Perhaps it's time for pastures new Wayne, even if you drop down to the Championship.
Most worrying is the lack of goalkeepers we've got to choose from at the moment. If he was to get injured we'd be in the brown stuff.

I know it's not a high standard but you could tell there was something about him. I have the same rare feeling as of when I first saw Ben Davies.
