Played virtually the entire game tonight (subsituted in the 95th minute!) as Palace beat Brighton 3-1 away. I hope Speed was watching. Call him up Gary!

But not according t these very positive posts English born but has chosen Wales Not sure on the ruling about U21 caps though and whether he could still possibly change his mind. I suspect he won't though and will be picked for Welsh national team this season
The future could be bright for Wales - Ramsey and Williams could form one hell of a midfield partnership for years to come.
Plus Bale on one side.
when he received the ball he either made something happen by running at the Brighton defence or by consistantly finding a team mate and using the ball well, a lot of the time his passing was cutting and aggressive.
hes like iniesta and gascoigne put together, and its scary how good he is! it isnt possible at his age!
what is also amazing about Williams is not only is he just 17 but he is so tiny, i'm guessing he is still growing. I watched players come through the academy in to the first team for years and years and cant remember one player that has instantly been brilliant as mr Williams, they normally take a few months to find their feet. He really is a true wonderkid.

apparently Williams is a product of the Welsh Football Trust's development programme rather than a 'Flynn find'.

That's great news if true. It means the chances of him jumping ship to England are much, much slimmer (unless some evil agent without any sense of morality gets his claws into him)
Well done to the Welsh football trust too, for helping develop such telented Welsh youngsters , even the ones that grow up in England!

No stated source or much detail so let's hope it's just paper talk. If we did lose him it would be a wake-up call for Speed on this issue and hopefully in future we will cap promising young players like this early on.

What a pain it is now. 5 mins as a sub against Bulgaria stops this problem occuring. I just hope his welsh side of the family has the greatest influence. No doubt that even if he does turn out to be a prem player, he may not be guaranteed a English place.

Firstly, who cares?! If he wants to play for England thats his choice which he is entitled to make. Given his age I dont think we should be forcing him to come on for 5 minutes just so we can go "ha ha, got you now!!" to him. If he wants to play for somebody else best its done fairly rather than him be 'contracted' to us and he turns into a Giggs who gives us very little commitment because he made the choice after being pressured into it.
And how many times have people gone over board about the next big thing and they dont ever make it? I have a funny feeling that if he opts for England he wont be 'Joniesta' anymore and will be just be some overhyped English kid like Wilshere.

The article is a joke. Wales don't have a competitive game for 11 months. Nor do England, unless Williams is going to be going to Euro 2012!

im against capping players just for the sake of it,caps should be earned not dished out to people just incase they wonder off elsewhere
of course we then run the risk of losing them but if a player does choose to go elsewhere then it suggests he was never a 100% committed in the 1st place

Newspaper article or no newspaper article this boy should've been capped against the Swiss, evenif only for 5 minutes.
Didn't we learn anything from the Rhys Williams debacle.
We need quality players, we're looking great at the moment but take Rambo and Bale out of that team and we will soon look like a nailed on pot 5 team!

I agree with idiot. You win a cap because your form, ability and character merit it. Not for any other reason.

this is not an utter none story we had a chance to cap him why did we not? because we don't hand out caps to all dual-qualified players on the basis that they might be capped by somebody else

Just in case anyone misreads your post, you aren't suggesting that Giggs had a choice are you??? I was hoping the reference was obvious (im sure you get it) but for those at the back I do of course mean that like Giggs he would end up a very talented player who we never got full commitment out of because he wants to be a club football man as there is more glory in it.
