Be nice to snag a home win after that stinking run of aways. Hopefully the floodlights will last the full 90 as well haha!

Watched them beat Cinderford 6-1 today, after being 5-1 up at half time.
Josh Iorwerth stands out head and shoulders in more ways than one. He is home sick, so that is why he has returned home. Much too good for that league. Even Merthyr fans cannot understand why he is there. Why didn't he go to Newport County?
Also Elliott scored the second

Anyone from this board going to Basingstoke next Tuesday night? It is the nearest they play to me in the league.
I missed them in the Cup at Porchester earlier in the season.

Yorwerth was superb on his return to Crawley today. He's had his setbacks, but a really good player in the making if his head is in the right place

Update from Basingstoke. Merthyr conceded a well worked goal very early on, pulled level on 24 minutes, with a loose ball from a corner being lashed home from 8 yards. Then minutes before half time against the run of p!ay Basingstoke's quick link up play resulted in a superb top corner finish which was unstoppable. Plenty of other chances, most noticeable being a Basingstoke shot across goal which hit the underside of the bar and post without going in. Merthyr's best other chance was a rusted effort with half the goal open.
Enjoyable game, but freezing.

Now 3-1 due to goalkeeper howler. Tame shot across goal, which the keeper dived for but missed. Don't know if the bounce beat him as I am down the other end of the pitch.
Merthyr have made 2 substitutions.
3-2 good working inside the penalty area resulting in a shot from 8 yards.
Merthyr have upped their game now as their 20 or so fans get behind them.
Edit at 23:21 home now. It finished 3-2 and I am still trying to thaw out and must look at the Ben Woodburn thread.

Should be a decent crowd and hopefully a win. Our form against the top sides hasn't been great this season. Don't think we've managed a win against the others in top 5 all season, so due one or two in play offs!!

1-1 at half time according to Merthyr Town website.
Edit:
Hitchin won 4-1 on penalties.
Commiserations Merthyr. Big learning curve for next season. They must learn to get results against the top teams.

Yet again we were the better team but yet again one of the top teams did a job on us Cant say I'm disappointed mind, we've had a great season. We would have been happy just to stay up given it was Gavs first season as a manager, and at short notice, so to finish in play offs and feel disappointed not to win is great. We've got some great footballers, anyone that follows Welsh U21 football knows that. Elliot, Kayne, Oliver, Tancock, McDonald

Watched an entertaining 0-0 draw at Penydarren Park on Saturday against Hitchin who beat them in the play offs last season. How Merthyr didn't score in the first half was unbelievable.
Tonight they draw again 2-2 at Stratford.

Naive question here - how many promotions would MT need to make it into league two? Is it two? Three? Would they be equipped to actually go up, facilities wise?
Good luck to them this season.
As an aside, where are Colwyn Bay in comparison?

Merthyr are in the Southern Premier League. 1 promotion into the Conference (National League) South 2 promotions into the Conference (National League) 3 promotions into League 2
Merthyr's ground, with a capacity of 10,000 and 1,500 seats is more than adequate for League 2, however they wouldn't currently be allowed, as they have a 3G pitch, which is currently not permitted above the National League.
Colwyn Bay are one step below this, so 4 promotions away from League 2.
