I think Neco suits this game more as an attacking wing back who could unlock a stubborn Irish defence
Connor may be preferred against Finland who were seemed to get a lot more joy out of in the first game of the group than we did against Ireland. He'd be a more solid option for that game and we could introduce Neco if we're in the hunt for a goal, makes sense to alternate like that to me

Looked good all this first half and got a goal with a run to the far post as well. Every cross he put in this half has looked like it could end with a goal.
Back to his best again!

To put things in context, there's a 7" height disparity between Roberts and Ameobi. Moore would have been proud of that effort. In general he had another good game, and was one of Swansea's better players offensively, in what was largely a defensive attritional performance.

I really like the lad. Seems to be really down to earth and genuine. We’re blessed to have him and Neco vying for the same spot. I think Neco’s emergence has pushed him on a little bit as his attacking output seems to have improved. Both could take the spot going into the Euros at this point

The fact that only a no 10 - Emi Buendia of Norwich - has created more chances than Roberts speaks volumes, especially when you consider that Swansea are first and foremost a defensive side. The fact that he's consistently topping the running charts in each match, for both Swansea and their opponents is no surprise. His engine is quite phenomenal.

You could say that he is a 'jack of all trades'. [I'll get my coat].

I know that Connor is quick to help for the Swansea City Community Foundation too, which can't be said of all players. He's a class act on and off the pitch.

Both could take the spot going into the Euros at this point I wonder if we'll ever attempt to do what Scotland have done with their problem with Tierney and Robertson and find a way to include both. I am not a big fan of using square pegs in round holes but if Connor continues this form and Neco realises his potential then it would be a big shame to leave both out. I'm not suggesting we field one of them in the defensive 3 like Scotland have done with Tierney but I could see us pushing one of them further forward.

I think the difference there is Tierney & Robertson are head and shoulders above the entire Scotland side (except for maybe McGinn) whilst we have a number of players as good as or better than Roberts

Didn't get a goal and an assist today (although could easily have got a couple of the latter), but was immense again. Against a Watford team with a lot of Premier League experience he stood out as a class above. He has that confidence in his first touch that makes opponents tentative and stand-off him. He's the perfect team player.

He's the only player to play every minute of Championship football so far this season, that isn't a goalkeeper or a centre-back.
It's clear to see why no-one else has, with Championship sides playing two games a week up until this stage consistently outside of international breaks, naturally players are going to need some form of a rest and managers have got five subs as well.
The fact Connor of all people, given that he must run on average more than any other Swans player (and will be up there for the most distance covered per game in the division) has been able to do that is phenomenal. He's an unreal athlete.

Phenomenal engine from start to finish.

I'd love to be able to see the statistics for distance covered in the Championship, but don't think it's available on any stats website.

With his current performances I wouldn't be surprised at teams in the Premier League looking at him, especially given that quite a few play with a back 5 now. You could see him being good enough for teams like Villa, Newcastle, Palace, Southampton, Burnley, Leeds, Brighton, as well as any team that was promoted last season or could be promoted from the Championship this season. Not sure if he'd want to leave the Swans, and I'm sure their fans wouldn't want to sell him but I think he's improved enough to think about it at least

The question is - would he want to swap a promotion push over the remainder of the season for a relegation dogfight with the likes of Brighton? Ampadu clearly isn't enjoying things at Sheffield United, so the grass isn't always greener. I guess it comes down to how motivated Roberts would be by the certainty of an eye-watering contract over several years over the possibility of more immediate rewards on the pitch and possibly greater riches down the line.

Yes, I agree it would probably be preferable to stay at the Swans over getting into a relegation dogfight. Could easily backfire. If a team like Southampton or Villa was interested it probably would be worth moving, but any lower than that it's definitely a risk

Villa recently signed Matty Cash for £16m and Southampton recently signed Kyle Walker-Peters for £12m, so I don't think a move to either of those is likely. Realistically, if he was to move to a prem club it would be a relegation battler, so I think his best bet is to stay with Swansea for now and reassess the situation in the summer.

None of them clubs are going to want to spend big. Nobody else would be interested in buying him in January.

He came off to rest him up for the weekend, and to give Freeman a run out. Connor was largely guilty for the second City goal, bombing forward before the midfield had got a proper hold of the ball. He did deliver a peach of a cross mind which Fulton should have headed in. Freeman was pretty unimpressive and Cabango looked very ordinary. I think we need to be patient with him - he's doing great for Swansea, but the Championship is his level right now.
