19 year old Connor Roberts will be playing tonight in his League cup debut against QPR.
U21 Swans Captain all pre-season, and from all accounts is a very strong prospect.
He will run all day, and has the ideal attitude. Not bad assist count last year either.

Played on Saturday. Also hopefully Henry Jones,Ryan Hedges & Josh Sheehan even follow suit and go out on loan.Only helps them and helps the Wales U21 squad too.Only have to see how most of the young pros. released by Cardiff & Swansea this summer have not found other clubs even at Conference level-most had common factor of no loan appearances even.

bump.
He has played all 27 of 27 games in the league for Yeovil this season, played every single minute. He is coming on leaps and bounds, rumours of Champ clubs looking at him. For a lad with no previous 1st team experience before this season, he has surpassed all expectations. In line for young player of the year. Good one for the future.
*only yeovil player to have played every minute of every game, must be one of the only ones in the league.

Unusually Swansea have Connor Roberts & Liam Shepherd as promising RBs.Gethin Jones & Jordan Evans have been the favoured choices for the U21s with the Swansea duo next in line.Could argue this season that the Swansea 2 have passed the other two with Shepherd making Swansea debut. In reality either Roberts or Shepherd needs to leave Swansea at end of season as Rangel & Naughton ahead of them.

This lad played 45 min last night for Swansea. After a bit of research, he went on their pre season tour to America. While at Yeovil he played 54 games in his first professional season and won 6 player of the year awards. Unbelievable. He also featured late for our U21s last season for the first time. Looks to have overtaken Liam Shephard.
Great prospect for us. I think hell most likely go back out on loan this year.

Anyone know what Guidolin's track record is like for giving youth its chance?

In reality either Roberts or Shepherd needs to leave Swansea at end of season as Rangel & Naughton ahead of them. Connor Roberts seems to have had a super successful loan at Yoevil. I still expect Gethin Jones to make it though over all the others mentioned. Declan John at Cardiff looks like he will get a fair few games at Championship level too. All great for competition for places though!

Signed on loan with Bristol Rovers until January.
There's a video interview on his arrival at Rovers with him somewhere, but I can't find it... He comes across really well, and adds to the Welsh contingent at Rovers. He seems willing and able to play left or right back, which will help his cause with the national side down the line.
I imagine it will be another season or two before he starts to compete for a squad place, but one to keep an eye on.
If you can provide updates on his progress (or otherwise) Storm that would be great.

I've been so engrossed in Bradshaw v Church I have taken my eye off Rovers...and they go and sign a Welsh lad in that time!
I have to say that is a really odd signing for Rovers to make. The manager has been talking about 3 or 4 signings before the deadline and due to the new owner supposedly having a few quid the fans are looking for the club to spend a bit of money and make some marquee signings primarily on central midfield to ensure we can compete in league one.
So we sign...a right back on loan! It seems that he is highly rated based on his displays in league two so that is promising however Daniel Leadbitter is pretty well established so he may find it hard to get first team starts. His crossing will be a big factor in whether he can get in the first XI consistently- Leadbitter is not the best crosser of the ball. All in all though as I said earlier its a strange signing- although obviously I hope he does well in his time at the Gas!

One of Swansea's best players today - not saying much, mind, as the whole team fell apart in the second half. A lovely turn of pace on him and great vision at all times. Really impressed me. Could be a surprise China call-up?
Was Giggs watching? Come to think of it, has he been spotted anywhere?

Was impressed with Roberts too. He looks really good going forward, constantly making off the ball runs behind the defence and putting in good quality crosses - he's far more dynamic than our other options. However, there were one or two defensive wobbles so it'll be interesting to see how he handles elite forwards, if given the chance.
Am I right in understanding he got player of the season for Yeovil in League 1? I'm pretty sure he hasn't played much for our u21s. Why the hell not?

Yes, he's done well so far - and should get another game in the replay, assuming he doesn't go out on loan. A bit uncertain defensively at times, but very enterprising going forwards at wing back. A few of his crosses in recent games deserved a better end-product, with Bony missing a few good chances.
Given the lack of options at right-back for Swansea there's a reasonable chance Roberts will get game time in the Premier League, albeit that Van De Hoorn played there (unconvincingly) when Naughton and Rangel were unavailable.

Got feeling he may start in place of Ledley in Midfield and there now a case for Connor Roberts challenging Gunter too. Certainly challenging Gunter at RWB if not RB. I think Ampadu has to play to be honest! Roberts challenging Gunter, is that a joke? Roberts is 3/4th choice right back for a side bottom of the premier league, had his loan spell and Middlesboro cut short and his defending has been questioned against teams such as Notts County. Hopefully one day he might challenge but at the moment he 5 is miles away

It's a bit premature to judge Roberts' ability to challenge Gunter for the RWB position - not least because Roberts' defensive capabilities haven't been put to the test that much to date. But offensively he's been impressive so far, showing a lot of intelligent movement and putting in some telling deliveries. So, given a run, at Championship level at least, he could make a case for inclusion in the squad. Mind you, he's got Richards as well as Gunter ahead of him in the pecking order, so it may be a while yet before he's playing for the seniors. But definitely one to keep an eye on.
